The Seth Rich Conspiracy Theory Thread (1 Viewer)

No she didn't. Please. Never promoted on MSNBC for one second. Two tweets, one an hour and one half before the show, the other half hour before clarifying they had just the 2005 returns.

And have you looked at her ratings and those for MSNBC recently versus your fave Fox News?
She teased it like it was big and it was basically nothing.

it was really bad

but not nearly as bad as this crap from Fox and for certain not close to as bad if the WH was involved

It confirmed the alleged rumor that he wasn't paying taxes - which up to that point when he wasn't denying it was bragging about it.

It didn't confirm that at all.  It confirmed that he paid 38 million in taxes that year.  Are we talking about the same thing?

I don't understand why you're still going on about this. Can you come up with anything that Maddow has done which is as awful as this Seth Rich stuff?

I mean Max, nearly all of your posts these days come down to a single sentence: "yeah but liberals are even worse!"

Well sometimes that's true, often it's not, but who really cares? And don't you get tired of posting it anyhow?

You're right, mis-remembered. Without more info can't confirm that his actual income tax owed of ~5 million wasn't so low because of his offset from the 900 million loss in 1995, but from all accounts I had heard was the leading theory - and the alleged rumor I referenced.

Never, ever joke about a young political staffer's death.

Oh, wait.

Hip hop already did.

How could one Chandra be so Levy...

Care to try making sense?
Yeah, it's pretty obvious the sanctimonious of this is politically motivated and a bit superficial.

I haven't made fun of his death but that all of a sudden political deaths are above humor or speculation is beyond ridiculous. It's an incoherent, indefensible position, thankfully taken up by the usual lefties on this board.

See Homer, this makes sense.

Negative.  MSNBC, Maddow, HuffPo. HRC.   They top anyone in terrible by 100.
That is grossly incorrect and is fake news as you say this on the tails of the WH working to lie and make up a story with Fox News.

Like it was said above, nothing is comparable.

Nothing big. Just that the White House might have been behind creating a fake conspiracy story about a man's murder so they could use it to deflect the Russian story.

let's not jump to conclusions...the WH clearly denied yesterday that Trump or the WH was involved at all in story...why wouldn't we believe them?....even though the narrative of the Rich conspiracy perfectly aligns with what the WH has lied about for the last year (no collusion, Russians didn't hack election)..oh and they happened to meet with the WH Press Secretary before the story was released....oh and it was released a couple days after the Comey firing/fire storm....it's all clearly just a coincidence...

seriously though, what's the over under on the number of days it'll be before Huckabby has to go out there and say.."yes, the president saw the story before it was released on Fox News and the WH did have some back and forth with Fox News but he didn't think anything of it and thought it was a crazy story with no merit.  Complete Nothing burger...This is completely consistent of what we've said all along and we'll have nothing further to say on the topic"...

Not entirely sure why he isnt banned or on every ignore list. His entire online persona goes against the reboot and the forum would be better off without people responding to his trolls.

Probably a good time to introduce you to this article.

Sorry, why is WikiLeaks invested in the Rich claim again?
You're misunderstanding.  They never reveal their sources, even after the death of the source.  Ever.  It's a WikiLeaks policy.

They will, however, obviously tweet audio which identifies that source.  Clearly that wouldn't violate said policy.

Yeah, I'm not sure of Ren's point. Talking to a guy who claims to have a source is not the same as having a source. If Rachel Maddow reported that sources at the White House report that Trump had confessed to colluding with Putin, we'd crucify her if the source for that reporting were Robert Costa telling her what he's heard.

Also... Seymour Hersh is a noted liar.  I mean, his writing is generally fantastic, and while I don't always agree with his conclusions, it's well sourced.  But he's on record as basically saying if he doesn't put his byline on it, it may contain giant fabrications.  Including if it's captured on streaming video.

Let me put it this way - if Seymour Hersh prints an article in the New Yorker or the Atlantic that says the things he allegedly said on that audio tape, I'm taking a second look at it all.

Of course, one of the things he allegedly said on that audio tape is that he doesn't believe at all that Seth Rich was murdered because of involvement with Wikileaks, and the official story of his death is correct.

Honey I know talking about Seth Rich hurts your feelings a lot but if the leaked audio is real (the Wheeler audio is absolutely him) it is relevant to the thread topic.  Quit being so sensitive.
Not sure where you got hurt feelings and sensitive about me gently pointing out your grip on reality is tenuous, but as long as you're sweet-talking me we can let that go.

The thread topic has shifted to the lawsuit alleging that the White House, and possibly Donald Trump himself, coordinated with Fox News to push an absurd fiction for political purposes .  The nonsense you're still pushing has been shown to be just that repeatedly, for a variety of reasons- including most notably the following as written in by Rich's parents and published in the Washington Post:

We know that Seth’s personal email and his personal computer were both inspected by detectives early in the investigation and that the inspection revealed no evidence of any communications with anyone at WikiLeaks or anyone associated with WikiLeaks. Nor did that inspection reveal any evidence that Seth had leaked DNC emails to WikiLeaks or to anyone else. Indeed, those who have suggested that Seth’s role as a data analyst at the DNC gave him access to a wide trove of emails are simply incorrect — Seth’s job was to develop analytical models to encourage voters to turn out to vote. He didn’t have access to DNC emails, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee emails, John Podesta’s emails or Hillary Clinton’s emails. That simply wasn’t his job.
That can be found here, in the family's public plea for people to stop politicizing their son's death and pushing baseless conspiracy theories so that they can properly mourn their loss. They go on to say this:

With every conspiratorial flare-up, we are forced to relive Seth’s murder and a small piece of us dies as more of Seth’s memory is torn away from us.
Maybe you should consider respecting their wishes.

seriously though, what's the over under on the number of days it'll be before Huckabby has to go out there and say.."yes, the president saw the story before it was released on Fox News and the WH did have some back and forth with Fox News but he didn't think anything of it and thought it was a crazy story with no merit.  Complete Nothing burger...This is completely consistent of what we've said all along and we'll have nothing further to say on the topic"...
"Of course he weighed in on it, like any good conspiracy theorist would have."

I don't understand why you guys are being so defensive here.  Not trying to make a huge point, in fact I'm trying to be as casual as possible about it.  I expect morality police officers like Tobias to browbeat me and question my sanity for even talking about it- which is completely pathetic, ignorant, wrong, and par for the course for him- but this audio is certainly fascinating if you're at all interested in what transpired with Rich.  The stuff about Dropbox, Seth profitting personally, Aaron Rich, Rogers beating the Russian drum, it's all new and being constructed by a completely different source.  And it could be all false.  Who knows?

I don't know about you all but I want answers here.  I posted the links I did there because I think it's interesting.  No need to get up in arms about it.

So if crazy Mensch has an FBI source let's run with it. If Hersh has a source, let's immediately debunk it.

I have no idea what happened here but am amazed how defensive some get on anything that suggest it may not have been a robbery. I have no idea what happened but I wish the lead investigator would release more info. It was obvious from Wheeler's notes from his interview that something is being hidden.

We'll treat it like you would Mensch then.

There's no 'Marshall of the Supreme Court' who goes around serving White House eviction papers. Done.

Care to do Hersh or Craig Murray now?

I'm sorry, tell me again which of us is the sensitive one whose feelings are hurt? It's a good thing I'm not the reporting type, or I suspect you'd be taking a little break from the boards.

There are a number of reasons I hate this stuff.  One of course is that his family is hurting and has explicitly asked people to stop doing exactly what you're doing here (positing a conspiracy and raising the possibility of things that have been disproven). But another, much broader reason is that this conspiracy theorist mentality where people throw out crap all day and see what sticks and defend it with the "I'm only asking questions" shtick is bad and harmful. It distorts reality and paves the way for "fake news"- the actual fake news that people put on Facebook in the run-up to the election, not the rambling accusations of Trump. It leads to misguided distrust of "mainstream media" who appear to be covering something up if you don't know any better. It foments misguided outrage that can lead to harmful actions, as we saw with the guy who shot up Comet Pizza and to a lesser extent all the people who harassed and threatened the owner of that place and other local businesses. It does lots of bad things.  Of course you have every right to post it, but if you choose to do so everyone else has every right point out to you how stupid and bad it is.

I posted audio of Rod Wheeler himself and Sy Hersh discussing the case, previously unheard.  Whether or not you agree with it I think it's fair to say it's relevant and interesting to the thread topic.  You responded with a youtube link suggesting I need to stop and get help.  After that you said I have a tenuous grip on reality.  It's like the only acceptable line of thought is yours, it's childish and honestly beneath you.

I want to like you Tobias, I really do, you just make it stupid hard sometimes.

Respectfully, I'm not the one coming off as defensive here.  Here's what we know Fox did.  They posted a story claiming that an FBI source said that they had Seth Rich's hard drive and had been in contact with Wikileaks.  Both the FBI and the DC Police have denied that.  And they posted that story without ever talking to their "supposed" source.  Under the most charitable view of things, they posted the story based on the representations of another journalist that HE had a source.  A reasonable person might wonder why, if a journalist had a reliable source claiming something like this, he himself would not publish it.  I'm just pointing, without listening to the tape, that the tape really doesn't tell us anything.  Sy Hersh's status as a Pulitzer winning journalist only carries weight for what he chooses to publish and attach his name to.
