The Supplement Thread: Now Otis takes a billion supplements (1 Viewer)

2 weeks of taking 1 Tbsp of neocell 4000mg collagen + c daily and am pain free, bad limp is minimal to none now, and I can get up without the assistance of my table to push down on. Dad's PT swears by this stuff as he's been taking it ever since an obese pt fell into his knees and caused damage. I'll still go to my appt with Dr. Sah at the Institute For Joint Replacement on Wed to see the xrays since I was dxd bone on bone 4 years ago. So thrilled with this stuff! 🙏🏻😀

Question on creatine supplements- are there negative side effects of creatine for middle aged dudes? Looking for an extra boost getting back to gym but worry about what’s safe for heart etc? Any better options if not safe?

So, what is a great liquid turmeric supplement? One with great bioavailability, and USP verified? I'm also tempted to check out HydroCurc.

I'm not so sold on the Qunol liquid turmeric that I've seen at Costco. I get the feeling that much of their product is just marketing and worry about the quality and bioavailability.

I grab these from time to time at the grocery store if they are on sale

On the bolded, you have to go to a doctor and get prescribed that, right? Is it a hassle?

First things first - I’m not a doctor, don’t listen to me about anything. You do you, this is only my option based on my personal experience.

Second- There is no fountain of youth. More than likely there is a trade off. The question you have to ask- in a nutshell- this is keeping it super simple and a little hyperbolic- Do you want to live to be 100 and crawl to get there or do you want to be a Stallion from 50-80 and anything after that is a gift? It’s a quality of life question that only you can answer.

Finding a good doctor is hard. The process mostly works like this….

-99% of doctors don’t know Jack about this and are stuck in the Stone Age.

- most of the time it is not gonna be covered by insurance or if it is, it’s going to be temporary. Get blood checked. Then they’ll give you a shot every two weeks which is almost worse than doing nothing. (You need to get jabbed every 4-7 days depending on what you’re taking)

- Your other option is a sports clinic type place - you pay $150 or so a month and they shoot you up for a few weeks until you’re comfortable taking it home and doing it on your own.

Just know that these guys are the opposite of the Stone Age doctors- in that it’s the same odds of finding a good one as most are out for just getting you on gear and collect your money.

-Given your position It’s probably your best option for you if you can’t find a “real doctor”.

-After you’ve done all of the above the most common method is procuring your own. It’s not very hard to find if you poke around and fairly cheap. This is only after you’ve been taught how and where to poke.

- You will need to jab yourself, alternating butt cheeks every 4-6 days. Or go to the clinic and have the em do it. Every time and you can’t be missing days, it’s got to be consistent.

- Some people will say that your body will stop producing testosterone forever and you will allegedly need to be on this for the rest of your life. I don’t find this to be true. Low yes. But it was low before.

-Most importantly- at the end of your cycle you MUST get a post cycle therapy (in layman’s terms it’s something you take for about two weeks after your last shot to help balance your hormones back to “normal”.

Ok but nothing I said was incorrect.

ashwagandha
black cohosh
Garcinia cambogia
green tea extract
red yeast rice
turmeric or curcumin

“Potentially hepatotoxic botanical products are the products that contain plant-based ingredients which have been implicated as potential causes of liver damage

Would this apply to the diet green tea they sell at places like Costco or Sam’s? I believe both contain green tea extract.

Good question, I have no idea.

I have been taking the Novex GF-9 and working out 2-3x per week and eating a bit better too. Down 20lbs since mid-March and notice a difference in muscle tone for sure. Not sure if the supplement is helping or 100% just the change in exercise and diet.

With 6 pages I'm sure this has been covered but I'm lazy, humor me. Greens...speak to me on them. Seem to just be a way to turn your poop another color and ingest a bunch of vitamins without taking a pill. I tried Athletic Greens cause Rogan, they were good but too expensive so went to Primal Harvest which was half the cost with basically the same stuff, just tastes like dog piss.

So what's the consensus? Worth the effort or is there a better option or just keep taking the old fashioned vitamin pill?

I've switched to buying a the big plastic container of actual mixed greens and throwing a handful of it into my smoothie. I still do some green powder from time to time, but going back to the source. Also doing hemp protein (w/ fiber).

Someone here grows their own micro greens.

Eat actual vegetables?

Stop it, nobody needs your sense and logic here.

AG is overpriced, influencer stuff. Go with Amazing Grass Berry. Love it for the price point (50 cents serving), great ingredients and it tastes good. I mix it with 5gs of mushroom powder in the morning - gives me a nice clean boost for the day. As for vitamins, most of the one/day multis are crap synthetics that you just piss out. Orange Triad is the gold standard here. All linked below and part of my daily routine.

I continue to hear how Quercetin helps prevents cancer. I have taken it for years along with Vit C/E and COQ10 as anti inflammatories for allergies.
