The Ultimate Windows Tablet (1 Viewer)

The iPad thread got me thinking about what I would really want out of a Windows tablet and here are some things I came up with.

- Plays XBOX Live games

- Ability to use the tablet as a touch controller for the XBOX (think games like Angry Birds on a big screen)

- Ability to function as HTPC and controllable by a Harmony remote

- All the functions of a laptop

What else it on your want list?

Hummers on demand, that have an internal spermicide so that I don't have to later wait for a paternity suit.

Shiny white or shiny black enclosure so all the Apple people will buy it

I question whether this makes any sense for a mobile tablet.By allowing the tablet to have all the functions of a laptop, you are likely going to cripple the tablets performance and power. I don't think tabs should ever replace laptops. They should be two independent items IMO at least for another 5-10 years or so until we take the next leap in technology.

Not sure about "ultimate" but this is a decent deal if you absolutely need to run Windows applications and want a tablet form factor...

... I like the fact it includes Office Starter 2010(Word/Excel with ads)

... I don't like the fact it weighs more than some ultrabooks

I like the ability to create text files with information, pop up a search box and easily search for keywords. I don't know how a touchscreen can easily accomplish this. Its just so much better to have a mouse and keyboard.

I think with these windows tablets the idea will be using it w/keyboard and mouse when you are trying to actually be productive with the thing and still have the ability to unencumber the device and simply use the touch screen to passively surf the web and consume content or check sports scores/facebook/etc while on the couch watching TV.I'm with you btw, I don't use a computer the second way nearly enough to justify purchasing just yet. The Asus Transformer series comes close because it does double duty as a possible ultrabook replacement.

Signs are pointing to some of this coming true. Microsoft is working on a 7" gaming tablet (likely similar to the Wii U Gamepad) which is expected to play Xbox games and work as a remote in conjunction with the Xbox 720. I'm hoping that these same features reach the Surface Pro tablet.

I'm suprised it's not already, you can play xbox live games on their windows phones.

Remembered this thread and 4 years later the Surface is getting close to what I wanted. No need I suppose for the Harmony remote control (could have the Surface nearby) but I still wouldn't mind that feature.

Still think playing touch games on a big screen would be cool.
