Things are looking bleak in start 2 QB leagues (1 Viewer)

Lord of the Rings

For those who play in start 2 QB leagues (I'm in two), obviously starting QBs tend to be extremely scarce. But this time of year there always seems to be hope that we can grab someone in the 1st couple rounds of the rookie draft. This year it doesn't seem like that will be the case.

I haven't followed it too much, but I keep reading posts about college QBs who will be staying in school for another year (Bradford, Tebow, Sanchez, ???). Other than Stafford, who will actually be available for us QB hungry owners by time the rookie draft rolls around?

Deep sleeper: Nate Longshore.

After his sophomore season, Longshore was considered one of the top QB prospects in the country. Injuries and inconsistent play, including getting benched for an equally ineffective Kevin Riley, dropped him from a likely first-rounder to a marginal player who might not get drafted.

But, Longshore looks like a pro QB. He has the size, the arm, and can make all the throws. It doesn't look like he's been invited to any of the all-star bowls, but he's going to look great at the combine, and someone will bring him in for a tryout, either as a day 2 pick or a free agent.

It's not a compliment to note that the NFL player he most reminds me of is Rob Johnson; all the tools, but just can't seem to put it together. But in a start-2-QB dynasty, he should at least be on your radar.

I dont think you can look at anyone from this year to come in and be Ryan or Flacco from last year. Junior QB's seem to have more bust potential in the end. That extra seasoning of college is huge.

Not sure of what the total stats are but only 1 starting QB in the NFL right now came out as a junior in Ben R and he was a redshirt junior so 4 years in college. I think of the Rex Grossman's, Ryan Leaf's that came out early and struggled with the NFL game.

And they might not bust but I think your looking at 2 plus years and that is for Stafford also. No one will throw him to the wolves in the end.

Your best bet is with a solid looking top of the draft is to trade for a QB if you need one.

I know in my home league that I own Rivers, Flacco and Edwards for 16 team, 2 QB league and I think I should get the 1.1 plus for Edwards in the end. I offered up Edwards, 1.16 and 3.10 to an owner for 1.2 and 1.6 and got turned down to a team that only has Vince Young at QB. I thought he might come back for Flacco. That would not get Rivers in the end. (Best trade I made was giving up 1.8 last year which was James Hardy, 1.9 in this draft and Nate Kaeding for Rivers back in Nov 2007 when he was struggling a little) The 1.2 and 1.6 alone would not get Rivers either.

JaMarcus Russell was a Junior I believe, but in the end he will reinforce your point, probably.
