This is how things get done in The Hood - Austin Harvest Chicago (1 Viewer)

Stay classy.

Oh wait.
Hoping no one gets shot seems fairly classy.  I mean I sincerely hope this is true.

There were 524 murders in Chgo in 2020, highest in the nation.  Are we pretending this doesn't exist?

There are grocery stores less than two miles away but I guess that’s outside of the range for the definition.

Supply and demand?  Usually how that works
I mean there is always a demand for groceries. If a store can be profitable there is another question.

Or is this a situation where there are Dollar generals everywhere, but they don't classify as a grocery store?

I’m just going by what was said, it was by an ex-bear.  Anyway, I’m sick of reading and hearing how everything is racist, how things can’t get done, how we must know CRT, Juneteenth, BLM, and on and on.  All excuses and avoidance.  I bet my $50 donation will be put to better use than to anything donated to BLM.  You may as well light that money on fire.

Over $660K was raised on WSCR for this.

This is a gentle suggestion and feel free to ignore but as sick as you are of having to read about 'how everything is racist' would you kindly allow that perhaps people of color are equally as sick of actual racism?  Like.....I'm sorry you have to read and hear about it, but at least you don't have to experience it.  Jeez, dude.  Have some compassion.

Hang in there.  Must be rough.

Oh...and who is saying you must know CRT?  Just curious.

Correct.  That's one of the first things that comes to mind.  However, my impression from posters around here is a handful don't believe those people are experiencing actual racism or even experiencing the effects of past racism and are just overplaying the racism card as excuses or a crutch.

Food insecurity and food deserts are a very real problem for many communities, and they're often overlooked.  Kudos to this group for doing something about it - very commendable.

I DO have compassion for those people who experienf it everyday.  It’s the white guilt sympathy people who tell everyone how they should feel thru the media (especially social media), they can pound sand.

If you have compassion, then you wouldn't say things like:  I'm sick of having to read or hear about how everything is racist.

I like you.  I DO think you're a good guy.  But saying stuff like the bolded?  Egad.  Very tone deaf.  From one friend to another.....feel free to disregard.

It is also the bad/junk food that is over charged for.  Pork rinds and grape soda should not be a staple of a diet.   People in these areas  need better food options.

You're missing his point.  Particularly the part about hearing about it AND hearing "how things can't get done".  He started a thread about something actually being done about it.

Your post is a perfect example of what he is talking about.  You forced race onto him without any sort of solution at all, just in the name of race.  Just like BLM, your attacks in the name of race distract from the message and what should really be talked about in this thread, radiothons and raising money.  You know actually doing something about it instead of running around calling everything racist.

On the flip side, part of the point is that things "can't get done" because there is a decent section of people who either believe there is no systemic problems (and evidently haven't been since the 60s?) or they are "tired of hearing about it".   Hard to imagine that much can get done when people are meeting those road blocks.

I don’t think this is the answer. I’m skeptical that this market will remain successful. It’s not easy to run a successful grocery store.

But I guess it’s a feel good story.

I'm not missing anything, Tony.  White people shouldn't be lecturing others on how the rest of the world should feel, act, study or deal with racism.  Full stop.  It's not surprising that you can't comprehend this.

He wasn't lecturing anyone.  He expressed his own feelings, half of which you dismissed.

That false.  It's overdone.  My god everything isn't racist.  That has to stop because, as I'm sure you know, it waters down when actual racism happens.   Unless, of course, you believe every  time you have been told something is racist you believe it to be true.  Then yeah, I see your point.

There was a twitter feed posted here that really shed a light on hos absurd it can get sometimes. Pointing out how everything was racist.  It was intended to be funny, but it really shed a light on how over the top that has become.

Ah yes, more white guys telling the rest of the world how they should view racism.  Cool stuff.  Keep it coming.

This is not expressing feelings, Tony - it's lecturing:  I'm sick of having to read or hear about how everything is racist.
“I’m sick” is definitely describing how he is feeling.   It’s got both the pronoun and the adjective right up there at the beginning of the sentence for you.

From one friend to another, if you feel like you’re being lectured to on a FF message board it might be time to take a break.

I dont care how anyone views racism.  Not my issue. I am just tired of being told I am racist.  That's all.

White guilt is a true problem in this country.
Nobody said you were a racist.  But a white dude saying he's tired of reading or hearing about how everything is racist (when it's not) is just asinine.  Go read something else if everything you are reading is telling you the world is racist.  Turn the channel or find new people to talk to if everything you hear is blaring 'racism'.

Ok here we go again. No not "everything" is racist. Good gracious..Is that all that happens here?   I will concede your point..Not every single thing in the world is racist.  You win. Well done.

You're probably right.  I'm going camping out on the coast to beat this oppressive heat.  And to spare myself from having to read or hear about racism everywhere I turn.

Whens the last time you went a day without hearing or reading “racism”?

Just asking
Yesterday I think, but I can't be certain.  I spent almost a week camping the Redwoods last month without access to the outside world and didn't here or read about it there.

I guess my question to you is this:  What is worse - having to read or hear about racism or actual racism itself?  Should be rhetorical, but I gather it's up for debate.....

Obviously racism is worse than hearing or reading about racism. That’s a silly question

I’m a white heterosexual male  so I know a large part of the population doesn’t care what I think about anything, but I’ll give my opinion on this.

I’m not a racist.

I don’t think there are any racists that post on this board.

None of my family/friends are racist.

I wish to God that racism would just disappear.

I also think that @FairWarning is allowed to be tired of hearing about it constantly. We are all adults, we know he didn’t literally mean “hear about it everywhere in everything” or whatever.

I admit that it’s hard to avoid hearing/reading racism every single day in just about everything and does get to be too much. I don’t think that makes him or me a bad person and it doesn’t mean I think it compares in any way to the people that actually experience racism.

🤷‍♂️

Appreciate this reply, GB.  Go get a beer with me and Mike?

it also seems like when people say they are tired of being called racist, then are asked who is calling them that, they either don't answer or it's a generic answer like "the media".
