THIS IS THEIR BEST SONG! - Music Draft - Saturday Night's Alright for iFighting (1 Viewer)

Not that I want it to devolve into that, but just a quick post saying that I often ponder about the fact that in 2021 proper handling of a virus = a political discussion.    The idea seems so foreign to me.
I don't come here to talk about viruses and vaccines.  In general, it all ends up being a fight or whatever.......I came here to talk about music.  I don't give a ####  about your thoughts on the proper handling of a virus

We are just chatting about life, what’s happening in our lives, etc. If one doesn’t want to engage in that specific convo, just don’t respond. It’s cool. There are plenty of tangents here that I just ignore. Nothing was political or offensive.

Exactly, it wasn't the first time it won't be the last time.    Like I said these as much a family get together as a straight music draft.  We care about each other and what's going on in their lives.

Right, it’s about community, some level of friendship and connection.

Q-Tip and Fife are sitting there on my playlist looking around and giving me the evil eye right now. They’ve even gotten the #playlistsowhite hashtag trending. Yo Mama selects:

11.02 - Wu-Tang Clan - Da Mystery of Chessboxin’

Ive taken some of their bigger songs in recent drafts so going a different direction for my “best” selection from a huge field of options.

Point taken.  I guess I'm just tired of hearing about masks and vaccines and viruses.  I've seen the whole thing devolve into hatred.  I come here to avoid that ####.

I totally get that. We’ve all been through some ugly convos around this. It’s been a trying time  and having a distraction is very nice.

You seem to have a wiki and a theme song.

Seriously, you two.  Knock it off or I will make you listen to Muskrat Love.
Why didn't you threaten me with that when I melted down the other day? Am I not important enough for that punishment? Huh? HUH?

Somehow you also missed being called out by name by NV for ruining the draft, unlike squistion and I, despite the fact that you actually said you didn't want one-a-days, unlike me.    Maybe no one reads your posts?!

These draft threads got a lot more intense since my two-week unpaid vacation.

Thanksgiving turkey is going to be a plain hunk of Costco roasted breast (aka, turkey cans), but I'll compensate with an awesome array of sides.

Completed:

  1. Cheesecake
  2. Cabbage Dumplings (to be finished under the broiler)
  3. Cranberry Sauce w/Candied Pecans (I prefer it heated, but it's great chilled too).

To-Do:

  1. Gravy
  2. Raspberry sauce
  3. Mornay sauce (w/nutmeg and Gruyere/Parm blend) for the cabbage dumplings
  4. Mac and Cheese
  5. Beets
  6. Carrots Lyonnaise
  7. Cook two pounds of bacon
  8. Mash Potatoes (I'm doing instant on Thursday.  Come at me, bro!)
  9. Bean dip (intended as a post-meal sandwich side)
  10. Stuffing (signature side).
Kids Shopping List

  1. Ruffles
  2. Sandwich bread (and/or croissants)
  3. Take and Bake (Brown and Serve) dinner rolls
  4. Green Bean casserole (Savannah Classic, or some such).  I'm a little short on bandwidth to roll my own.

I think my instants are pretty awesome.  Of course I throw an extra tablespoon of butter (okay, two) at  them along with a ton of French's fried onions. And lots of black pepper.
Actually that sounds pretty money.  Love the fried onions......my favorite thing to do pull a roll in half and load it up with mash, green bean casserole, and turkey or ham.....like a lil thanksgiving slider......can't wait for turkey day!

I actually tried that about 10 years ago as the main course ... Thanksgiving Po'Boys. Turkey, cranberry, green bean casserole, gravy, and that marshmellow/sweet potato thing. It was an A+ idea with a D- execution.  Need to revisit this one.  Stand by, December.

Sweet and savory is a tricky combo.....my wife loves the turkey with cranberry sauce.....me, not so much

The song I caught my mom listening to was "Lookin Out For #1" - she loved it. I thought it was ok, but maybe a little too AC for my teenaged self at the time.
My friend Saul and I agreed at the time. When this song came on we just looked at each other with puzzled looks on our faces.

now add some heat - we do sweet potato chipotle casserole with the pecan/brown sugar topping ...

for the green beans - we do the bundles wrapped in bacon with the soy/brown sugar glaze

ETA:  the stuffing must have a lot of ground breakfast sausage in it

I add heat to most everything....I prolly have 15 to 20 different hot sauces in the fridge....current fave it Marie Sharp's hottest Habanero.....not too crazy hot, and delicious

To all who have problems, imagine living under the same roof with your 25-year-old and 22-year-old daughters.  In true sitcom style, the younger is the responsible/studious type. and the older is total opposite.

ETA: We're approaching One Day at a Time levels.

My wife and I like to call you types 'hot sauce guy'.  We first coined this on a weekend in St Augustine several years ago. While out on a nice meal, we struck up a conversation with the couple next to us.  The husband was very happy with the fish he ordered; so much so that it required a gallon of hot sauce on top.

My 22 and 20 year stepdaughters just moved back in with their combined three dogs which brings the total household dog count to 5.

SERENITY NOW!!!

we use more asian heat types of stuff - it's a different kind of heat

Schezwan peppercorns, the little dried red chilies, fresh little green asian chilies, all kinds of chili crisp and all kinds of chili oil, we use that a lot more than rooster sauce.

All you need is Jm J Bullock for a full Too Close for Comfort situation.
