Thomas Davis / Gary Guyton (1 Viewer)

I haven't seen any details on the Thomas Davis knee injury. He hasn't been practicing for several weeks now. My guess is he'll be back before the opener, but wanted to see if anyone knew details on the knee injury.

Guyton started ahead of Bruschi this week. Any word if he will be starting long term? With NE switching back and forth between 3-4 and 4-3 it may make whoever starts opposite Mayo worthless though.

My understanding was that Davis' knee injury was a bruise, and there's no reason to rush him back to action. Darin Gantt said he was close to returning this week; I'd start to get fussy if he's not available in Week 3.

I meant to mention Guyton's ascension in the training camp blog thread, but this week quickly got away from me. I think Guyton takes the majority of those snaps (given his nickel duty) if he proves at all capable of holding the point of attack and stays consistent in his run fits. In that role, I think he's got LB3/4 upside, but I don't see clear 80 solo and LB2/3 starting value.

with both Davis and Beason gimpy, what does that do for Dan Connor?
he's the backup and would be expected to start in his place. that said, beason is expected to return in time for the start of the season. sprained mcl, according to his agent.article from today about connor stepping into the role for now
