Thomas Jones is Ripped! (1 Viewer)

Jones roids up in the offseason. Just watch how much smaller he gets during the season.
Why the confusion? He uses roids in the offseason to bulk up, and then stops once it gets too risky to use them.Just look at pictures of him from offseason to mid-season, the difference is striking.
During the off-season, guys weight train more rigorously. Thus, they can get more ripped, if that's their thing. Some guys work "the beach" muscles hard. During the season, they do not have the time or energy (to be recovered and rested) to weight train like that. Thus, you loose a little mass and definately the shredded look. Anyone who's even played high school ball can attest to that cycle.

Mangini said hes been one of the hardest workers in the weight room during voluntary workouts. I think hes really going to have a great year with the Jets. His skill set fits the Jets offense perfectly

That's all true, but I'm not sure there's even any proof that he "deflates" during the season. I remember seeing him LATE in the regular season, saying, "Damn, those are some serious guns."

O-G <cha><cha> Titans <cha><cha>

Actually that's not true, you'll definitely lose definition, but most of the time you'll gain mass! Especially if your as cut as TJ is. To get that cut, you have to decrease your carbs and do tons of reps. Also you have to build your mass before you work on your definition and that means taking in massive carbs and doing few reps with maximum weight. Your workouts take very little time when your building mass. Building mass for an athlete usually means picking out a few muscle groups each day with very short workouts at max weight and giving them plenty of time to recover. Now when the season starts most athletes go back to the diet that they used when they were gaining mass. They switch to training for muscle maintenance more than anything. They'll pick weights at about 80% of maximum and while doing more reps than mass training your not doing even half the reps of definition training. Now, more often than not, with a high carb diet, and less strenuous activity, you'll gain a little weight over the season. There are some exceptions though, if you didn't do any running or endurance training in the off-season (even NFL lineman are doing that in the off-season now) then you lose weight. Most NFL trainers can pick that up early in training camp and they'll increase your carbs more to stop the weight loss. A RB that doesn't do endurance train in the off-season though is a moron and won't get away with it long. A RB without endurance gets cut quick. Now the second exception that I can think of is if you get hurt. Even then though, you don't stop working out. If fact a lot of guys will train their unaffected muscle groups a little harder because it's easier than adjusting diet and it gives you positive results. Now lets say that you do get that injury that puts you in the hospital paralyzed and you can't work out at all. You'll gain weight like crazy unless you can severely restrict your diet! The only time your gonna see guys shrinking during the season are the really big guys that didn't train on endurance in the off-season and the guys on roids. The guys on roids will eventually get to the point where the fat gain will eventually overcome the muscle loss though. (Muscle weighs 6 times more than fat.) The guys on roids that quit will force so much water out of their muscles when they quit though, it's the only thing that's gonna be more noticeable than a guy laying in a hospital the same amount of time.

Sure am gonna miss him on the Bears. Best rb we had.
uhhhhh....ever hear of a guy named Walter Payton?? What kind of Bear fan are you??
uhhhh..... I think he meant on your current roster...
How can he be on the current roster if he's not on the team :goodposting:
"Had" as in last years team. Best RB the team HAD. Better than anyone on the current roster. Now he's gone. :pickle:

RBs need power in their legs to explode through tackles.

For the Jets, put down the curl bar and hit the squat rack TJ. You're biceps shouldn't be bigger than your quads.

That is a pretty sweet stiff arm and a timely bump.
The best part (other then the fact the guy flew 5+ yards) is at the end. His feet roll up over his head right as the clip ends. I watched the game live. The guy actually rolls over in a somersault when he is done getting launched.Hilarious!

I saw this clip from the Jets-Phins game and it seemed worthy of sharing. Sadly, this old thread came to mind as the perfect place to put it. Sorry!

Never in the history of OWNAGE has somebody been THAT OWNED on a football field. He b*tch tossed that dude! :lmao:
Great stiff arm, but come on. Are you forgetting Greg Jones on Dexter Reid back at FSU?
PS: I also love Thomas Jones' arms

Right. No one could ever be muscular and not be on steroids.
TJ uses performance enhancers. End of story.
This is a fairly standard comment from someone who sees a muscular athlete and doesn't think it's possible to obtain that look without chemical assistance. Unless, of course, you've seen positive drug test results on Thomas, in which case you're certainly correct.

Yes, he's nothing more than a muscular athlete.
