Thoughts on Charlie Blackmon? (1 Viewer)

Thoughts on Blackmon this year? I have the first pick and I'm eyeing him up.

5x5, 10 person, h2h league. We keep 2 batters, 1 pitcher (or 2 pitchers, 1 batter) plus 2 rookies and 1 minor league prospect. Can keep a player forever.

I have the first pick. My keepers kind of suck (inherited team.....KSeager, ADiaz, JCueto, CArcher, JEickhoff, and Bradley Zimmer).

Blackmon is underappreciated because of Coors and that he was kind of a late bloomer.  But he's put together three straight solid seasons and hasn't been traded elsewhere.  He's not a stud but helps across the board in roto.  I've come around on him.

I'm not a H2H guy, but in my eyes, if it's an OBP league, you take Votto, simply because he is elite in that category and can get you enough hr's, rbi's and runs to be a very good 1B man (and chipping in a steal or two here and there never hurt).

But in an average league, I'd lean to Blackmon and hope he keeps getting me 20-30 sb's/year to go along with good across the board production.  I was kind of surprised to see Blackmon is already over 30 tbh, so expecting him to continue with good sb production past the next year or two may be a stretch.

Posey, Votto, Braun, Daniel Murphy, Lester, Davish, etc.
Any younger guys available? May as well look for someone you can keep a while. If these are your choices, Id stick with Blackmon. Hate to take a guy after a career year, but it is what it is.

If you had to live in a house where the floor and ceiling represented his, you could not even stand up.

That's some socrates type ####.  Nice.

Lester is another guy I might take.  He's on a great team that will will a ton of games, no injuries of late (knocks on wood), and has been consistently good.

Good news is his home/road splits last year were similar, he even hit for more power on the road.  He has already said he wants to steal more bases in 2017 after being hobbled some last year, so I think his SBs will go up but homers will be down.  His combined HR/SB totals the past three years have been 50, 50, 46 so something around 50 total is probably what to expect, and why he's going in the 2nd round in pretty much every format.

I respect Lester, but I respect him a couple rounds less than everyone else.
