Thoughts on Courland Finnegan (1 Viewer)

I had Courtland Finnegan last season. Tennesse had a great year and played great defense also a tremendous run game but I am concerned if it can happen again I know Finnegan is a press coverage player with high attitude and play but could this be a one time thing I noticed alot of people dont have him ranked in the top ten so my question is? Is he going to be worthy again?

The 58 solos from last year have me nervous about recommending him highly. The Titan defense was good, but their defenders had league average tackle opportunity. They played enough zone coverage that Finnegan should have been a more productive tackler. His big play value and history of better tackle numbers give him plenty of upside, though. I'd take him as a late DB3 pick or a CB1/2 guy depending on how my draft went, but I tend to be risk averse at DB. I don't want to give away huge relative advantage when all three of my high upside, highly volatile starters tank during the same week. I think guys like Finnegan are best used like Demarcus Ware at linebacker. Pair them with a consistently solid starter or two and let their upside carry you to big wins while keeping their poor weeks from killing you.
