throwing games (2 Viewers)

Like everyone else, I've heard of NBA refs fixing games, players fixing games and all that.

That last pass to Lofa didn't have much arc to it and went right to him, I mean right to him.

Feeley was terrible and I felt like everytime I changed the channel to put that game on, he threw yet another INT. As great as he was against the Pats he was coversely bad against the Hawks. So I can definitely see that being just a real bad play on his part. That said, what does cause a league like the NFL to investigate these matters? What triggers it?

To repeat-I'm not saying Feeley did, he was terrible. I am merely asking what triggers an investigation.

Hello Bri, you bring up an interesting question. I don't know if there's a way to tell if a player is throwing games which would prompt an investigation. The only thing that comes to mind if the player spoke to others about what he/she was doing and they turn and tell the proper authorities.

maybe so, seems though that that wouldn't lead to much investigation if at all. Maybe that's how they want it though

Assuming you are talking about point shaving, "Vegas" would prompt most (if not all) investigations. The Nevada gaming commission has nice "bells and whistles" that signal something may be "odd" and will notify the NFL. Assuming this would be for illegal gambling, the same failsafes aren't in place, but I thought I read somewhere that NFL Security has things in place to detect those type of activities. If this is in regards to throwing games to better draft picks, well there are SEVERAL threads on that on the first couple of pages of this forum (consensus being anything from dismissal from the league to physical torture).
