Thursday Night Exploit/Avoid (1 Viewer)

This smells like another nice day for the Arizona D/ST...but I have a feeling about this game. Thursday games have been pretty bad for the most part, and most of the games haven't went according to what we've believed.I think this one is a shootout, because it's the exact opposite of what it SHOULD be. Prediction:St. Louis - 38Arizona - 35
what the heck happened with the AZ D vs. the Dolphins, at home no less?
My guess? The return of regular officials. Alot of teams have been getting by on crazy press coverage by in large molesting receivers during the reign of the replacement refs. I'm interested to see if this cards D is as dominant as advertised because I think they can be exposed on the backend.
Nothing to do with refs. The dolphins oline held up against blitzes which gave the qb plenty of time to throw. Cards also had a big focus on the run and dared Tannehill to beat them in the air, and he did.
Fair enough, but my overall point was that the cards DBs are not as good as their front 7 and can be exposed. They're physical, but with all the smallish quick receivers the Rams have, I think they match up well. Plus I think the cards are going to rethink their bend but don't break strategy when they realize that crossing the 50 yd line basically puts the Rams into scoring territory.
Darnell Dockett was out last week. He might be back this week. The D is entirely different without him rushing the passer.
I still think the play of the line will be largely irrelevant because the Rams simply won't run the ball that much. IMO it will come down to how well the cards can play press coverage against those Rams WRs because Bradford is perfectly content to dink and dunk out of 3 step drops. If they can do that successfully, it essentially negates the advantage the cards have with the pass rush vs the rams less than mediocre o-line.

Get over yourself. Your posts are fun to read, but make no mistake about it...they are by and large worthless, or, worth no more than any other poster's fantasy statistic predictions on this board.
Woah, think you stopped having fun, no reason to start attacking. How come Solar and I can banter back and forth and have a good laugh poking at each other? Good Luck this weekend.
yeah, your intent was really to banter back and forth and have fun rather than make a smartass remark because i made a comment that insults all the in-depth analysis that you stand for (in your mind). it's no big deal, you aren't the first guy to get a swollen head from positive feedback from posts you make on an internet message board, and you won't be the last.can't wait for your sunday column!!
are you really under the impression that MoP has an inflated ego because people applaud his efforts? agree or disagree, at least he contributes something; and generally when people give him a thumbs up it's because they're thanking him for his contribution, not because they agree with every bit of it.sounds like you have some insight about kolb's motivation you'd like to share, so please do. can't wait for your sunday column!!

Not much Amendola love here.

Dodds sure likes him.

In my PPR scoring, Amendola is ranked #8 with a forecast of 17.1 points.

I'd be curious what he's thinking here...

kolb is on a mission
Sound reasoning
oh, thanks man.i mean, it's nothing like this tidbit of wisdom: "Final Score: Arizona 17...St Louis 16, defensive score either way could be the turning point. "

lol. let me re-write mine to match your in depth expertise:

Final Score: Arizona 30....St Louis 23. OFFENSIVE score either way could be the turning point...but also, it might not be the turning point.

Lol. Toughen up buttercup. Kolb is on a mission. Yeah that's on par with positional/snap count breakdowns.

i didn't know every post in the thread required in depth analysis. was offering my opinion on the game.he apologized to me in PM, and it's water under the bridge. the mob of posters like you rushing to kiss his ### was to be expected, but we are done derailing the thread. feel free to get that last word in though. i know you won't be able to resist.

still trying to figure out Arizona giving Powell 36 snaps and not 1 carry as it seems to telegraph what they are doing rather remarkably.
can u please elaborate, i can read this in two directions. i assume u mean they just want him to be a blocker, filling a side of williams' seeming shortfall. this thread has me watching this powell kid more than i think i should, but then if there is any dynasty value here it's a good thing.

Great post as always MoP! I enjoyed the read although I am hoping Solarca is more on par for a high scoring game this week.... I have to start Bradford as my bye week filler. :bag:

if you dare to disagree with me, it's because you're kissing someone else's ###.

but i'm done derailing the thread, other than to get in the last word about you wanting the last word. i know you won't be able to resist because i couldn't.

I going to start 3 players on Thursday night!

Ryan Williams

Amendola

Why? I can't get my self start any of the Bills on my team (Fred Jackson, C.J Spiller or S. Johnson) vs SF in SF.

I meant that the opposing coach should be able to read powell in the lineup as an obvious tell that it was a passing down.

When you are basically the worst rushing offense in the league, does it really matter?

Maybe Fisher has this game pegged and has them ready. What if.Can Bradford eventually have a big breakout game? 3 TDs possible? How about Zuerlein's introduction to America? Three 50 yard FG's, + 1 30-39 yard FG, + 3 XP's. 33-31, Rams.

Amendola is heavily leaned upon in the short passing-based attack, ranking fourth in the NFL in targets. Conveniently, Arizona has had a very difficult time guarding the slot, where William Gay has been eaten alive to the point that he was benched last week against the Dolphins. This is a great matchup for Amendola.

Well it was no-huddle with guys staying in. I see your point, but everyone is also stuck on the field. It's different than him coming from the sideline and hmm what play will they run. You do have a point though. Can WIlliams pickup the blitz well? Or is he a risky spot there? It's curious that he hasn't run that set much in practice.

Timely bump of this thread for tonight.

I notice Dodd's bumped Ryan Williams up to RB2 territory. I wasn't even considering starting him over other options but now I'm second guessing. Without starting a "who are you starting Ryan Williams over and why" thread, I put the question out there....over who?

Any Ryan Williams love out there??

It's really close but I'm leaning Williams over Ahmad Bradshaw and Andre Brown. I figure Williams has less competition for carries (with apologies to the Powell owners) and hoping that ARZ wants to get him jump started against a lower echelon run D instead of passing 75% of the time. We'll soon see how that'll work out I guess....

I'm starting to feel like the Rams Defense might be a pretty good start tonight. I think Fisher will have them ready to play in a rare prime time game for the Rams, not to mention at home.

Should be able to get some pressure on Kolb, as Miami got to him last week, and I like the way the Rams corners are playing. Finnegan, Fletcher, and Jenkins are a pretty solid trio.

Anyway, while the Rams run defense is suspect, I'm not entirely convinced on Arizona's ability to run the ball effectively.

I look for 5 sacks, 2-3 INT, and a shot for a TD return.

Liking the final score at 16-13 Rams.

I put zero stock in the projections.

I thought he had 3 TD's against Washington a few weeks ago ?

Road teams on short weeks usually struggle, don't like Arizona this week. I think Ryan Williams is a decent low end #2/flex play, but the Rams pass defense is legit. Obviously if you own Fitz you're starting him, but I wouldn't want to start anyone else on that offense. I'm worried about the defense too. Tough benching them given what they've done and what they're capable of, but...road game, short week.I'm not considering anybody in the Rams running game either, but after last week there is something here in the passing game. Peterson is turning into an elite corner, but it is absolute garbage across from him, which is what led to Bess and Hartline's breakout. Not following the Rams much, is there some predictability in how they line up at WR? especially on obvious passing downs? If there is whoever is usually not on Peterson's side of the field is in for a big day. Toler and Gay are just plain awful. If I had bye week issues and had to rely on Bradford, despite no offensive TD's in 2 (or is it 3?) games, I think he has a good game Thursday picking on that obvious weakness.
Going to toot my own horn here, frustrating that after Amendola went down that it took 2 quarters for Bradford to finally go up top and pick on Toler. Some bad stuff going on opposite Peterson...
