Thursday "Stat Corrections"?!?! (1 Viewer)

Does anyone else think it's ridiculous that a league would have "stat corrections" on Thursday?

That seems a little late in the week to me.

By Thursday there's already been trades and drop/adds..... based partly on what you thought were solid numbers for the previous week.

I do understand that stat corrections must happen. But not until Thursday?

Anyone else have this in their league?

Yeah. We've seen it happen several times. The only time it's been controversial, though, has been when it happened on a Thursday after the last week of the regular season and the change affected the outcome of games and standings for playoffs. The team that won the championship that year was originally beaten by half a point and not in the playoffs.

But stat corrections happen for a reason. Just learn to accept it.

I've never seen it happen, actually.

Whatever score was recorded on Tuesday morning is not affected by later scoring changes - if there is an NFL correction to a stat - which, IIRC, usually happens on Wed. , our commish could go in and manually change it.

Either way, I want myt league's stats top reflect the proper stats in all cases - like he said above:

stat corrections happen for a reason. Just learn to accept it.

Yeah, I know stat corrections have to happen..... and I can "accept it". It's not as though I've lodged an official protest with the commish or anything. I am simply surious how common of a situation it is.

But, it really does suck to perform a trade and one drop/add on Wednesday and then wake up Thursday to discover that points have been deducted and suddenly that W flips to an L.

At this point, I suppose I'm whining.

There have been stat corrections made very late before. In our MFL league, we have the option to accept them or not. The league has decided that if they're not made by a certain time, they don't affect our games. I seem to recall a couple changes that happened a full week after the game last year, we just chose to ignore them.

What was the correction?
Gary Brackett DL, IND was deducted 4 pts.... which resulted in me losing a VERY important W.here's the breakdown I posted elsewhere...according to the Official NFL.com site here are Brackett's stats for Week 8...tackle = 8 ------ 8 x 1 = 8assist = 5 -------5 x .5 = 2.5sack = .5 -------- .5 x 3 = 1.5ff = 1 ------------- 1 x 2 = 2total = 14 pts.yahoo has removed...1 assist ------- .5 pts1 ff ------------- 2 pts.5 sack --------- 1.5 pts.sure enough, that equals a 4 pt reduction.so, we now know the math works out just fine. the only question is.... should Yahoo have really made that stat adjustment. it sure doesn't look that way according to the Official NFL.com database.you'd think that if some official Elias Sports Bureau adjustment was rolled out it would hit the official NFL site at least as quickly as the Yahoo sites.

well Brackett wasn't in on the tackle. It was Cato June.

I ended up losing a game I had won this week because Yahoo corrected their stats. Hard to look at setting your lineup only to find your record worsened from Tuesday to Thursday.

Antonio Bryant fumble changed to an INT for Smith.
I was watching that game when that play occurred.. Selfishly (playing against Smith) I was ticked that they counted that as completion and not an INT. Then, after watching the Jermaine Wiggins debacle in the MIN/NE game, I was beside myself. At least they corrected this play and got the right call, IMO... the Wiggins call was horrible, especially since it went to the booth and they still got it wrong.

Three weeks ago, I won a game instead of tying the game when Thomas Jones received 4 yards to push him from 39 to 44 yards and gave me one point. The next week in a different league I was up .15 points for a win and had San Diego D (we get points for return yardage in this league). The Thursday stat change gave -9 yards to San Diego D/ST causing me to lose by .3.

I guess my point is: What goes around, comes around. I would rather have all stats be correct for all my leagues.

Double trouble if your waivers are on Wednesday and the order determined by your records....

Ours are final as of Tuesday at 5pm. Whatever the NFL offical stats are then is what we go by, good, bad, or indifferent.

and...... that's the way it SHOULD be.i'm about to get mad about it again.in fact, i am outraged.

In week 7, Lee Evans fumbled and the NEP DEF/ST recovered. I lost in my league by one point. CBS changes their stats on Tuesdays. On Wednesday, the Elias Sports Bureau (official statistician for the NFL) gave the Patriots credit for the FF and recovery. If they changed the stat on Tuesday, I would of won by 1 point. Stat changes suck if your on the losing side. Deal with them.

From our rules:

"...the league agrees to abide by the statistical decisions made by the NFL reflected in the boxscores on NFL.com. Scoring may be corrected if all of the following criteria are met:

1. The NFL officially changes the statistics

2. The issue is brought to the commissioner's attention prior the kickoff of the week following the correction."

Sounds like the NFL data doesn't agree with the Yahoo data? If so, what is defined in your rules as the true source of info? Per Yahoo, Colston is a TE (even though his number is WR only).

and why would the nfl pay someone to alter a web page that was posted days ago?they don't, and that's why the nfl.com pages aren't official.

hmm, I wonder when my league is going to update the stats. Antonio Bryant with 1 less fumble gives me the win when I originally lost!
