Ties for playoff seeding? (1 Viewer)

Got a problem.

One of the owners brought up a question about ties.

Since in his division the records are

overall div points for

team A 3-2-2 1-2 599

team B 4-3-0 2-1 540

team C 4-3-0 2-1 477

He decides to ask "if the playoffs started next week, who would win the division, since we all have the same winning %"

Now a 3-2-2 is better then a 4-3 or does it still play as the same?

just want to get this figured out before playoffs come around...in the 5yrs of the league we never had to deal with ties

Same win% = same record

Move on to your leagues next tiebreaker (divisional record, total points, whatever)

A tie is half a win, half a loss, kinda. So,

2 Ties = .5W +.5 W & .5L +.5L

Or, 2 ties = 1 W and 1 L.

So, 3-2-2 is the same as 4-3.

In the NFL, 3-2-2 is identical to 4-3 (since ties are officially counted as .5 win/.5 loss). However, other systems would deem 3-2-2 to be better than 4-3.

Yes that is what CBS is doing because the 3-2-2 team is first in the division, which made me create this thread. But he also has the most points of the 3 so i believe CBS uses that to determine 1st in a tie.

Right, in the "Standings" on sportsline, the teams are in order of win pct., then in total points. It doesn't matter what the tiebreaker system you devised is... the computer at CBS doesn't know what it is and uses its own for the standings. When playoff time comes, it's up to the commish to seed it properly.
