Tiki to retire!? (1 Viewer)

With this in mind, what would you give up for Tiki in a dynasty league, if it made you the favorite for a title this season?
This is the offer I have made for Tiki Barber in a 12 team dynasty league prior to this news coming out:Colston, Marques NOS WR

Year 2007 Round 1 Draft Pick

Year 2007 Round 4 Draft Pick

Year 2007 Round 5 Draft Pick

for

Cassel, Matt NEP QB

Barber, Tiki NYG RB

Year 2007 Round 3 Draft Pick

I do believe this news adds more incentive for the Tiki Barber owner to take my offer for him. I am giving him assets that will help him rebuild and improve his team moving forward. Adding Tiki Barber to my Rb stable improves my team as well and give me better starting options this year moving forward. I still think this is worth the price for me even if Tiki only is usable for my next 7 but hopefully 10 games.

I think this is how you get things done.

I don't want to turn this into an ACF, but to name some younger options I might consider giving up for him:

C. Taylor

J. Jones

T. Bell

T. Jones

L. Jordan

W. Mcgahee

J. Addai

C. Williams

Would any of those guys be too much to give up for what looks like a one-year shot at a top RB?
Rbs in dynasty leagues are hard to replace and these Rbs have more longevity in the league than Tiki offers. So depending on what other Rbs you have on your roster I am not sure if I would part with any of them for Tiki at this point but that really depends on your specific situation, depth and how sure you are of contending for a title this year.If such a trade would put me in a hole at the Rb position after this year I would be reluctant to do it.

From what I've observed he doesn't have the full skill set to be an every down, top 10 FF RB. He definitely is an outstanding between the tackles, downhill runner,
He has power and speed.. If you watched him enough you see that he could handle it 25+ times a game and be a goalline back which is HUGE in fantasy.
but:- He's not involved in the passing game at all. This may be because Tiki is a better receiver, but IMO they'd bring in a good 3rd down back next year if Tiki's gone.- I also don't see him run outside that well, though his number isn't called that often on these types of plays.
He can run outside but why would they?? That's what Tiki is for. Jacobs is brought in for the tough inside runs not to bounce outside. Have you seen him run?? Because the way your talking it sounds like your going on somebody elses report.
I guess I would echo the "could" sentiment from above as a lot of scenarios he just doesn't get in on b/c Tiki's there. If tiki is gone chances are he'd be the 1st/2nd down guy there next year but long term (5+ years) I just don't see it.
Well looks like we might see that. In the age of RBBC This guy has a chance to be top 10 with just 1st and 2nd down. That's because of his goalline opps.

I've seen the interviews with Tiki, but what do you peg the chance of him NOT retiring next year at? While it's unlikely we've seen other althetes do something similar despite being adamant that they're done.

I'll say 5%.

I think a lot will depend on how far the team goes this year. If they're on the precipice of winning the Super Bowl, he may want to give it another shot. Kind of like Alstott thought he would do this year. But if the Giants don't go far, I suspect Tiki will bow out.

I'm a huge Giants fan, but... good for Tiki. CB being able to go out at the top of your game and healthy. Seriously good guy as well - just a solid, solid individual.

Jacobs should be a borderline Top 10 next year, provided they don't bring someone in, just based on goalline ailities alone... as long as he remembers not to run like he has a steel rod connecting his neck to his ankles.

Is this notion of him staying if they get close to a Super Bowl based on anything? I haven't heard him say a word about winning a championship - I hear him talking about "other opportunities". He wants to do broadcasting, all indications are. I think he says he's gone, and he's gone.

Not based on anything, but just guessing. I do agree though that he sounds like he's made up his mind.

Turner possibly with the Giants in 2007? :pickle:
Too much of a cost to land Turner. First and third for him? I dont think so, not when they already have Jacobs.
I agree they probably won't pay that price. However I don't think Jacobs will start next year either. The most likely scenario is a free agent pick up or draft pick. I don't see Jacobs as a starting RB. Most people who think he can start are those that own him. I could be wrong though, time will tell.

On a different note: if Tiki hung it up after this year - any chance for him to get in the HOF with his numbers?
I've posted this one before, but there's a HOF test for any sport. You hear the name and if it takes you more than a second to think about it, the player is not a Hall of Famer. Tiki Barber is a great player, but doesn't pass that test. He's not a Hall of Famer. (and IMHO, Harry Carson wasn't either)
:goodposting:No chance Tiki makes the HOF without a couple more years without a dropoff in performance. If he indeed retires after this season, no chance.

Yes, why?
