But Kelly isn't hoodie. A LOT of guys could look good with DJAX and Shady, etc on the field. I know, people would say the same about Hoodie and Brady and Gronk, etc, but overall, up to this point (and it can change), I think the history suggests that Hoodie helped make the players and so far, the players have helped Kelly.
This whole "thing" in Philly is very interesting to me because Kelly's arrival in the NFL truly excited me. I liked the idea of a new, fresh mind coming in instead of regurgitating all these washouts all the time. I liked the idea of fresh, innovative play. I'm not even an Eagles fan but I was excited to watch them. Now I am nervous that he's getting too big of a head and its going to crash around him. When you make the moves he has made, you had better win and win big and I'm not sure he can.
I'm mostly both interested and annoyed by the cliche psychology of it.
you say you liked the idea of 'fresh innovative play', but really only as long as it's done the way things have always been done, because if it's some change you don't understand or don't agree with it would be a personal affront ---
dat guy tinks he's better than us!!
notice how people typically use
us or
we to pander to an audience when they actually mean
I or
me, as referring to themselves would seem kind of egotistical, and it's the other guy being portrayed as egotist --- you wouldn't get much support claiming some guy thinks he's smarter than you are, so you'd hide behind the crowd and say something from the back of the room like 'he thinks he's smarter than the room!', instead.
that's a fair point that he's not hoodie, but there was
a time even hoodie wasn't hoodie
the villagers ended up 'winning' that one, in the end, as they usually do, dragging themselves from the muck of the thatch hovels they built for themselves to protest electricity, or vaccinations, or that hot chick that won't date them and ruined their crops.
returning to their lives digging in the dirt, safe in the knowledge that there's nobody around smarter or better than they.
remember when that
idiot josh mcdaniels traded cutler for 2 firsts and a starting qb, right before unloading marshall for 2 seconds?
dat guy thought he was smarter than us, but we knews betters.
remember when the 6 win niners hired jim harbaugh who went on to average 12 wins the next 3 years, going to the conference championship each year along with a superbowl appearance?
that guy spawned threads about his tremendous ego and was run out of town.
I wonder if vince lombardi got the villagers all riled up like this, or maybe back then there was sufficient lack of telecommunication to keep us in the dark about the process so we wouldn't take insult.
chip kelly works with these guys every day and scrutinizes film of not only every breath they take, but every move they make.
I don't have any more knowledge of where kelly takes this team than you do, but I know we haven't seen it yet, so if you want something fresh and innovative then just enjoy it, stop complaining, and maybe accept the fact that when it comes to coaching a football team chip kelly is not only smarter than you, but better than you.
and by
you I mean
us.
