Nice sig.I like the guy, but Ponder ain't cutting it. Mix something up around there. Someone besides AP needs to step up.
Ponder will be fine..it takes 4-5 years to develop a young QB.I like the guy, but Ponder ain't cutting it. Mix something up around there. Someone besides AP needs to step up.
good point....just like Tavaris Jackson.....Ponder will be fine..it takes 4-5 years to develop a young QB.I like the guy, but Ponder ain't cutting it. Mix something up around there. Someone besides AP needs to step up.
Not everyone is Tavaris Jackson and on the other end of the spectrum, not everyone walks in and does what RG3, Luck and Wilson are doing either...good point....just like Tavaris Jackson.....Ponder will be fine..it takes 4-5 years to develop a young QB.I like the guy, but Ponder ain't cutting it. no, he's had some better showings than that, he is never a very accurate QB though.I think it's pretty clear he'll never be a franchise, top 10 type of QB though. Sure he may get better, but look at all these rookie or other young QB's coming in and being great options and don't need 4-5 years to get there. We need a franchise QB if we want to ever have a shot, so we aren't so one dimensional...Ponder isn't going to get us there the way he is playing this year.(granted, we need some WR help too)I have not watched Ponder much this season but I got a chance to watch him play this weekend. Is he always that inaccurate? He looked awful.
they need to cut everyone outside of percy and start anewno, he's had some better showings than that, he is never a very accurate QB though.I think it's pretty clear he'll never be a franchise, top 10 type of QB though. Ponder's stats right now compared to TJ at the same point are pretty similar. Fans being patient years ago isn't true. I remember Hasselbeck getting booed in Seattle when he took over for Dilfer in his first handful of games. People were never patient and nobody ever waited 3 or 4 years. I agree it is worse but it's Ponder's second year and the guy seems to play worse as the year goes on. Holding on to some Cassel type player for years just isn't a good idea. I think they should let him play the season out, then start thinking about moving on. Unfortunately it's really hard to get a QB outside of the top 10 (or 5) picks now. The Vikings won't have a high enough pick to grab someone so they could be stuck with him for a couple of years while AP carries the offense to the middle of the pack.'Wadsworth said:Cam, Dalton, RG3, Luck and Wilson have really tilted the expectations of young QBs. Even a few years ago most fan bases would be content to wait 3-4 years to give a young QB a chance, now they get less than two seasons before the natives start getting restless. I am willing to bet that at least one QB drafted in the last two years is going to be cut by the team that drafted him and end up a quality QB for another team.
That was Hasselbeck's third season. We will have to disagree about fans being more patient with QBs in the past. I strongly believe that the recent success of rookie QBs has significantly shortened that timer a young QB gets.Fans being patient years ago isn't true. I blame the Detriot Lions defense for giving the Vikings brass the illusion that Ponder has an NFL future. Every week Detriot Lions are letting players like Wright and Brasil run uncontested in to the endzone. Even Ponder couldn't miss Wright when he was that wide open.Ponder will be fine..it takes 4-5 years to develop a young QB.I like the guy, but Ponder ain't cutting it. Mix something up around there.
