Time to sell Welker? (1 Viewer)

Welker will always be a PPR monster, but here are the breakdowns of his games in the last two years (including playoffs) with and without Hernandez. Reports are suggesting that he can return as early as next week. In the past four weeks, Welker has 35 catches for 470 yds and 1 TD.

In 6 games without Hernandez, Welker has averaged 10 catches, 141 yds, .5 TDs

In 18 games with Hernandez, Welker has averaged 6.6 catches, 76 yds, . 4 TDs

I am NOT saying Welker has no value. I am saying his value will not be any higher than it is now and appears is in store for a reduction in FF points once Hernandez returns.

WITHOUT HERANDEZ:

16-217, 2 TD

9-158, 0 TD

5-95, 0 TD

8-142, 0 TD

9-129, 0 TD

13-104, 1 TD

WITH HERNANDEZ:

3-14, 0

6-55, 1

6-53, 0

7-60, 0

8-160, 2

7-81, 0

5-124, 0

6-45, 1

6-39

9-136

6-46

2-22

8-115, 2

11-110

7-86, 1

4-41

12-138

6-51

I'd like to know thoughts on Welkers post game comments. BB already made a point in the first two games of the year. After those comments, is Hoodie going to do it again? If so, selling him high now may be the move. Thoughts & opinions?

I'd move him if you can get good value for him. Hernandez (and to a lesser extent Edelman) are going to hurt him when they come back. Add in all the contract year shenanigans, and it's a good time to trade him, IMO.

Problem is, everyone knows about all this stuff. So, I doubt you'll find too many trade partners willing to pay fair value.

Good analysis... at first I was like "no way" but you may have a point.

I think he will hit a wall this week for sure vs SEA. He may be a sell high but your next question is who do you target him for? Someone like a Miles Austin? ...Roddy White? Not sure who youd swap him for?

Maybe package him w RB2 for An upgrade@ another position, qb for instance? Sorry, phone acting up.

Definitely time to move him if I had him in a dynasty league, although you still likely have another week of stellar production coming. He's not going to be resigned by the Pats more then likely, which will plummet his value.

my thoughts are that is irrelevant and no, he can't do it "again" because that wasn't the reason for the first time. the idea that belicheck is petty enough to hurt his team to punish welker is laughable to me. they just wanted to go in a different direction which was to feature the run more. welker was always a substitute for the run game so it makes perfect sense that he is the one that gets scaled back in favor of the run.as for selling welker, yes, its time to sell. im not sure if they go back to weeks 1+2 but i think its likely. if they do, welker drops back to a wr3-4. i don't think it's worth the risk to hold him and find out how they use him with hernandez back.

Well, as Welker said, he also made his own point these last few games. BB's a but of a jerk, but he's not an idiot. And with Edelman and Hernandez hurt, BB doesn't have much choice but to use Welker.I'd mainly be worried about what happens when those two get healthy again. They obviously have some sort of plan for how to use Edelman's downfield blocking, so Welker might be left out of 2TE sets again.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Edelman returning as well

Hernandez and Edelman are both going to be back soon enough. But now you've got Lloyd hurt, which extends Welker's value a bit, yes?

After watching Welker take that shot from Browner yesterday I have to keep him on my roster. Welker is a tough SOB, and win or lose I'm sticking with him.

How much does your league award for taking big hits and looking cross eyed on the sidelines for 5 minutes?

Edelman or Hernandez <> WelkerThe slot machine will not be stopped. With NE's record now, they can't afford to let pride get in the way of Welker's contribution. I'm playing Welker every week and he's not for trade (PPR league).

I'd be looking to sell Welker either (1) disability insurance or (2) personal air bags. If he keeps getting whacked like he did this weekend, he's not going to last long.

Welker has produced 45-608-2 on 61 targets over his last 5 games. Why are people in such a rush to sell him off?
Because they are worried that his production is correlated with the absence of Hernandez and/or Edelman. If those two return healthy and Welker has two mediocre games in a row, Welker's trade value plummets. Dynasty-wise, the lack of a long-term contract is an obvious worry as well.

Because people want to be the first one to get the new Iphone, and the first one to predict when something is going to happen, but in reality they are stupid and get it right about 1 out of 1000 times. Thanks for selling Welker cheap, and congrats to everyone that cashed in.
