NBA TV is showing Game 5 from '94 between the Nuggets and Sonics -- the first time an 8 seed beat a 1 seed. Weird, I was just thinking about this series the other day when I saw Gary Payton. A buddy of mine lost a small fortune on this series.
Actually this never happened.
Sorry GB. Damn, those were some great uniforms in the great NW.
I still have that game on a VCR tape. I was so drunk--probably the best Nuggets night ever.

I saw wiggins last week at the clippers game. He's going to be amazing.

As good as beard has been, the rockets need the 2 seed for him to have a prayer at the mvp. It's really gone unnoticed how much the team is void of help with Howard out.

100 pages ago I said the Grizzlies would win the west. Standing by that.

Wall, beal, and durant would be a scary back court.

Casey with a brilliant play call at the end of the game
If for some reason you weren't watching Raptors vs Pistons (how could you not!??!), here it is in all its glory. 20ish seconds when Toronto got possession down 2. Timeout? Nah. Early shot so you can rebound or foul? Nah. Let Williams dribble, wave off a screen, then take a step back 28 footer with the clock expiring? Yep.

Wittman vs Casey in the 1st round is going to be so painfully awesome.

the bucks swept the heat last night for the season and won on a last second shot from middleton who they now officilaly have no hope of signiing this offseason but anyhow take that todem take that to the bank brohans

Best part was that there was still 5 seconds left on the clock when he launched it.

A playoff matchup of talented young backcourts, horrible coaches and self-loathing fans, battling to see who gets to be eliminated by the Hawks in 5. Can't wait!

Disagree. That best part was after that game...

Casey:

We just scored on the same play, what we call the ‘three-pointer fist’, high pick ‘n roll. For whatever reason, Lou decided not to use it, again, you got to trust it. The first screen didn’t set, I probably could’ve called a timeout with six seconds, but I thought Lou was going to attack.

It was a set play that we had already called, and we missed a screen
Williams:

We didn’t call a play. Once I got across and realized we weren’t going to call a timeout, to me it became a routine play for me

More coach Casey goodness. The standard "play" the Raptors run at the end of every single quarter is a clear out for Williams to jack up a deep 3. He made his first couple at the start of the year so apparently that is his shot now.

Josh Lewenberg@JLew1050

Lou: "No different w/ the game was on the line. Thats a shot Im comfortable with, thats a shot that I make, thats the shot I missed tonight"oops.

Oh yeah. They had a terrible stretch after that but everything prior to and including early 90s were fantastic.

So is Durant pretty much done for the year?

That 1 vs. 8 matchup would be IMO the best 1/8 matchup in NBA history with Durant back in any fashion. OKC has made some real nice moves this year. Really like how their frontcourt has come together. It's better with Ibaka, but it's really good & underrated even w/o him. Kanter has really found his place there. He was going to get a nice contract before his trade to OKC. But it's going to be a lot more than nice if he keeps playing as he has.

It's amazing.

What is the story behind being milked?

[–]officialbillwalton[S] 237 points

23 hours ago It's the most pleasurable experience in the world! When you're on a great team and you get hot, your teammates milk you dry - they wear you out and there's nothing like being on a great team. When you're on a bad team and you get hot, they freeze you out because they figure they have to get theirs before the game's over. Never forget - happiness ends when selfishness begins. I love being hot and there's nothing in the world like being milked.

Yep. Orlando's first season in the league, one of the first MJ sightings in central Florida. His jersey got stolen out of the locker room on game day. They didn't have a backup red-23 in the arena, but the equipment manager had a nameless red-12 on hand for emergencies.

IIRC, one of the trading card companies made a Jordan card with a photo from that game night, so there might still be cards out there with Jordan wearing red-12 on them.

Since this was Jordan in 1990, the stolen jersey made him angry and he went out an had a monster game. Hung like 40 on the Magic.

Reggie Jackson with a triple double tonight in the Pistons' win over the Magic. 26 pts, 11 reb, 10 ast.

Detroit has now won 5 of 6 (loss was to Philly though :X ) Jackson averaging 21.2 PPG, 11.8 APG, 6.8 RPG in that stretch.

And they've been doing it without Greg Monroe, which they might as well get used to.

Nerlens Noel is going off against the Knicks. Already a career high in points half way through the 3rd.
what's that, 7 points?
He didn't score again after I posted that
30 and 14 tonight.
the NBA as a whole was completely robbed by having that horrendous excuse for an org. in Cle luck into the top pick last year. Absolutely robbed everyone of being able to watch Noel and Wiggins on the same team.

You only could have seen them together for a year, one of them would have won the rookie of the year and been traded in the off season.

Let's hear it for mr. nine years nine teams demonstrating exactly why the wizards need to deal nene and get a stretch four in there with wall running the show.

Maybe there is hope for Tom Thibodeau regarding his keeping his starters on the floor in blowouts. I've lost track how many times the Bulls were up by 15-20 plus, deep into the game and there was Noah, Rose and Butler running fast breaks, fighting through picks.

Tonight, the Bulls played the Knicks (a lifeless team). They were up thirty halfway through the third quarter. Finally, Thibs pulled everyone and emptied the bench. Ken Reeves got some burn.

coulda used a few more from jimmy minutes, but itll do.

Hawks wrapped up the #1 seed and then sat all their starters last night. Would be interesting if that helps Charlotte get the #8 seed and face Atlanta in round one.

Hawks need to go 5-4 in the last nine to get to 60 wins. I'd like Coach Bud to rest guys but get to 60 - would be a great accomplishment for this team.

Wall, beal, and durant would be a scary back court.
Assuming Beal and Durant can stay healthy, absolutely. Although Durant will be the stretch four to unclog the lane and get that offense out of second gear. John Wall and Kevin Durant will be lethal. Westbrook is more of a first option scorer. Not that he's not a facilitator, but Wall was born to pass. He's getting better about it, but he's still reluctant to shoot and often would rather look for another pass than shoot a jumper. And he needs to run. The Nene and Gortat tandem are not a fit for Wall. Deal Nene while you can, get a stop gap stretch (other than Drew Gooden please and thank you) to start working on it and be ready for Durant in fall 2016.

The Wizards need to give a competent coach a chance to work with that front court before blowing it up. I doubt anyone gives anything noteworthy for Nene or Gortat either.

Definitely need a new coach. Whole-heartedly disagree about keeping Nene and Gortat together on a John Wall team. Somebody could make great use of them, but youre leaving a lot of productivity on the table choking up the lane with Wall and Nene is not a stretch.

The offense can't all just be Wall driving to the rim and dishing. Nene and Gortat could contribute more if they were put in the proper position to do so. They can play Pierce at stretch 4 as it is -I'm not sure who else is out there that would contribute more in that role. .
