Cap is $70m, $84.7 for tax.Looks like $67.1 mil for the salary cap and $81.6 for the luxury tax.

Nope...technically they can't talk specifics until midnight tonight, so legally enter into binding verbal agreements. This is plainly incorrect. They only allow verbal agreements until tonight. Then you can sign for real.Good thing the NBA doesn't allow verbal agreements until midnight tonightApparently a verbal is agreement is not worth the paper it's written on.
Because having a whole week of speculation without any signings is a great way to keep the NBA in the sports news cycle in the first week of July.So why not just make the negotiating period.......today?Yep. July 1 is the start/finish of NBA's fiscal year. They spend the first week of July counting all the money they made over the previous season, make estimates on the new season's revenues, then set the financial parameters for the new season, including the new salary cap and luxury tax threshold.I read it somewhere today but I can't find it, but apparently it is so the league can calculate the salary cap and what not. What was the point of creating this waiting period in the first place?
the one guy uncrossed his legs that is basically a riot in minny bromigoThose fans are insane.
That, and the Clippers are such a historically inept franchise, that they need to go to such lengths to keep a free agent who had a handshake deal with another team already. Jordan and the Clippers deserve each other. What the heck? Is it like DJ is so inept he will sign with whoever is sitting in front of him at midnight?
YES. This is gonna be great. Then the Lakers re-up going after Love. Here come the ripple effects....
@JakeLFischer: Speculation rising amongst NBA executives that Pacers will approach Mavs about a Roy Hibbert trade if DeAndre Jordan opts to re-sign w/ LAC.

Correct - they don't allow contracts. They definitely allow verbal commitments to sign with a team. Read the CBA.Sammy3469 said:Nope...technically they can't talk specifics until midnight tonight, so legally enter into binding verbal agreements.Instinctive said:This is plainly incorrect. A more reputable franchise wouldn't do this. That's kind of the point.I personally respect what the Clippers are doing. Going all out to get their guy. I feel like if a more reputable franchise did this, everyone would say how willing they are to do what is necessary.
You really think so? So a team would be content to be a borderline playoff team opposed to potential contender? Put me in the this category then. I don't see much of a difference between this or a poison pill offer sheet.A more reputable franchise wouldn't do this. That's kind of the point.I personally respect what the Clippers are doing. Don't think they'll have the cap space with LeBron and Gasol signing. Then again, they could lock Aldridge in a home and cut the A/C.Magic going to go get LaMarcus now IMO
Was just coming to post that. This is insane.
Over/Under $500,001 - amount of fines he'll be paying after said reaction?Looking forward to Cuban reaction if/when Jordan signs with the Clips.
What can he really say? The player wasn't under contract. The Clippers, however dooshy they are, didn't really do anything wrong.Over/Under $500,001 - amount of fines he'll be paying after said reaction?Looking forward to Cuban reaction if/when Jordan signs with the Clips.
The point is that a better run franchise wouldn't be in this position.30 out of 30 NBA franchises would do this if they wanted/needed to.

Meanwhile Paul Pierce is yelling at teammates to stay off the landline so he can surf the Internet.

What did they do incorrectly....DJ reached out to them. The point is that a better run franchise wouldn't be in this position.30 out of 30 NBA franchises would do this if they wanted/needed to.

No way this is true.
Makes sense considering Jordan lives 200 miles away in Houston.
