Bad calls don't decide games. But a clock operator does even though the team still got to run a play.

Look, it was a great game and I think the Clippers are/were the better team. But the Clippers also got a massive strategic advantage on the last play of game because their clock operator very conveniently screwed up. Even if that is a low percentage play under any circumstances its still a crappy way to end such an amazing series.

I believe the clock operator in the playoffs is either from the visiting team or is an official. Still doesn't excuse the screw up.

Also, spurs still had a timeout. Couldn't pop have just taken another TO and drawn up another play?

Also part II, Barnes left his man (Belineli?) wide open for 3 when he helped on the lob. Inbounder should have seen that.

I don't follow the NBA closely any longer so the answer to this question might be obvious - but why are so many people saying the Spurs and Clippers shouldn't have played in the first round? I get that the level of play was very high and it was an extremely competitive series throughout, but didn't the Spurs earn the 6th spot? What the hell could the NBA do to "fix" the seeding in the future? Or am I just misunderstanding what people are saying?

The problem is that Portland "earned" the 4-seed because it won its division, despite finishing with the sixth-best record in the West.

Divisions should be irrelevant in a league with a balanced conference schedule. In football and baseball, schedules are weighted toward division opponents; not so in the NBA.
