It will be interesting to see what adjustments the Cavs make.

Mike Miller was a disaster last night, but with their lack of depth they really don't have a good option until Smith comes back.

It was surprising to see the lack of attention the Cavs paid Gasol, especially coming after a series of frequent double teams from the Bucks. Maybe play LeBron on Gasol and Mozgov on Noah/Gibson?
The Cavs will have to start Thompson at the 4. Move James back to the 3. LeBron tends to have down games when he logs major minutes at PF. There is no easy solution to this. The Cavs need James to rebound. That is a little harder on the legs. Noah may be garbage in the statistical column, but his 30 minutes a night of banging on James will go a long way in this series.

Cavs also need to play Perkins. They wont win with a 3 man rotation at the 4/5 that includes LeBron.
According to the Plain Dealer, you predicted right. Thompson will start.

I'm surprised. To me, it just seems like playing small to move a Bulls big defender away from the rim opens lanes for LeBron and Kyrie and is the better way to go.

No mention of Perkins but I guess you're also right that he plays.
Billy and Zach Lowe were talking about this on a playoff preview podcast, with Lowe stating unequivocally, "The Cavs can't play Timofey and Tristan together."

We shall see.

Game 3 : Memphis, TN - Golden State -4.5 (-185)

Price feels a bit rich. I fully expect Warriors to "wake up" and shoot better from beyond the arc, and likely will make some adjustments to try to compensate for Conley's resurfacing. That said... Memphis is no slouch in The Grindhouse (31-10). Should be an interesting game. Arguably a must-win for Memphis if they want to have ANY shot to get this to 7 or to possibly even upset Golden State. Highly unlikely across the board but Vegas moved from +1800 to +500 for Memphis to take the series after last night.

We're looking at a 5 game series and Memphis has home court advantage....

I don't follow the WNBA, but you have to imagine they will veto this some how. It would be like the Clippers new owner hiring back the former owner to be the VP of basketball operations.

They've really got no choice for Game 2.

Having these vets is fine, but they've all been racking up DNP-CD's for months now (Marion/Miller/Perkins). I just don't know the reason for having 3 inactive old vets on a roster. They aren't going to get anything but bit minutes from them at this point.

They need JR Smith back in the worst way. I don't really think it matters who they put on Noah. They'll be able to get away with it. I'm still taking the Cavs in this series as I have zero confidence in the consistency of this Bulls team.

Apparently Reggie Miller is either unwilling or incapable of using the third person:

"If you're Doc Rivers . . ."

"If you're the Rockets . . ."

"If I'm James Harden . . ."

And there was the Bulls team we knew was coming. Cant miss open shots like that. Cavs played a good game. I'll still take Chicago in 7.

love the first comment...

Griffin: [tries to hug Rivers]

Rivers: [collapses hard on floor while swinging arms wildly]

Griffin: What the hell was that?!

Rivers: Oh, that's my Blake Griffin impression.

I really want to see a Warriors vs Spurs conference final.
Assuming the Spurs beat the Clippers, you will likely get your wish.

Leonard is Harden's kryptonite.
Rockets will beat spurs. Sorry bud.
yea the rockets looked great last night.
:crickets:
you split your first two home games against a team missing its leader and best player. good job.

So did every single team with home court advantage. Your point?

After game 1 it was Bulls in 5. What changed? So you really thought they were going to Chi up 2-0 and finish the series in 5 which would require sweeping Cle in Cle? I'm holding you to Bulls in 5. :)

I think it's neat how Howard and Jordan can only play the last 2 minutes of the 4th quarter because they can't shoot free throws. Great basketball all the way around there.

Their opponents were missing their best players?

Washington, D.C. - Wizards guard John Wall underwent multiple examinations yesterday that revealed five non-displaced fractures in his left wrist and hand.

Wall and the team are currently in consultation with multiple physicians and specialists to determine the best course of action and his playing status has yet to be determined. Further updates will be provided as information becomes available.
It's been another great season, everyone. Enjoyed it. See you in a couple weeks when my period of mourning has concluded.

you had a chance to go up 2-0 against a clearly superior team while they were missing their best player and you got a split and lost HCA. now he's likely coming back. yet you somehow seem pleased with that.

:sadbanana:

If the east playoffs wasn't the JV tournament beforehand, with these injuries (Wall/Love), it is now.

I sobered up. I was pretty lit for game 1 and riding the high. The Bulls have those streaks where they just can't score or seemingly do anything right. I thought they could sweep in Cle too.

I still think Chicago has the players/matchups to win this thing. Thibs really needs to figure that part out.

Can anyone stay healthy this playoffs?
Warriors seem pretty healthy.
And the Hawks. And, strangely enough, the Bulls.
Millsap, Shefalosha, and Mirotic would beg to differ.
Oh right, Sefalosha. Forgot about him.

Millsap looks fine to me. Haven't heard much of anything about Mirotic being unable to go, I know he banged up his knee last series but I suspect every big man in the league is having knee issues once May rolls around.

Mirotic is fine. Noah's play is certainly affected by injury again.
Noah never was a great finisher, but now he can't even make the most routine point-blank layups. He's clearly playing with some sort of injury.

Mirotic seems to be the victim of tighter playoff rotations.
