Really hoping the Raptors fall to the 4 seed so they don't have to deal with them. They'll be a big favorite in round 2 against the Hawks or Raptors. The Cavs are on an unholy tear.
Lebron won't be MVP, but can you name another current player who could've affected his current and former teams as much? The Cavs are on an unholy tear.
I think his reputation gets him another year, and with what he inherited it'd take time anyway...but he's been completely lost. That NYT article is pretty damning in that it looks like he's just trying to shoehorn the triangle into a league where running it is sub-optimal.Phil Jackson out of NY by August?

What is sub-optimal is not having Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant to run the triangle.I think his reputation gets him another year, and with what he inherited it'd take time anyway...but he's been completely lost. Punctuation aversion?adrian wojanarowski on the score this morning was saying this is the end of an era for tibs and rose and so on and i guess it probably is i am sure that on boors and bernstein today someone will say that tibs playing guys big minutes is what ruined roses knee but i do not think so anyhow sort of a bummer to see him go down again and not get to see a fully operational bulls team head to head with the cavs in the east take that to teh bank brohans
He is not a good defensive player.I don't really watch any Bulls games but I thought at this point Rose was only effective defensively. Certainly his scoring hasn't been good for some time. Even at his best he was a volume scorer.
And he's feuding with his coach. Guess that acquisition didn't work out.Rondo is shooting 31% from the line this year? Is that accurate? How is that possible?
Look, Jack....do you mind if I call you Jack? Fixed.I do have to say, everything has broken Cleveland's way the since Dec. They couldn't have expected their trades to work so well, they couldn't have expected Washington to plummet so much, and now with Bosh and Rose done, they are left with Atlanta and maybe Toronto as their only real rivals in the East (and even Toronto is debatable since they didn't do anything to improve their team).
Sometimes it pays to be really, really lucky once every 50 years.
They did win the Lebron lottery twice and have the richest owner who is a loan shark in the world. It can't be THAT bad.Fixed.I do have to say, everything has broken Cleveland's way the since Dec. And they won the lottery three other times as well. Think about how absurd it is to win the lottery three out of four years. The fact is that you are perusing the greatest schtick poster the interwebs has ever known. You've heard of Plato, Soctrates and Aristotle? Morons. The Ole Saucer is the man around these parts and has been for some time now. You'd best pay some respects.
Signing Robinson doesn't have to have anything to do with Brooks. The Bulls need depth at PG with Hinrich being injury prone, old and often ineffective. As good as he was 2 years ago for them, I don't see it unless they flat out prefer Robinson to Brooks at this point. Besides it being a improved offensive team with Gasol/vastly improved Butler/Mirotic, they've already got the same player in Brooks.
According to Sam Amick of USA Today, Nate Robinson would be interested in returning to the Bulls following the news that Derrick Rose (knee) is likely done for the season.
Robinson is a high-volume scorer who can fill it up in a hurry when he is hot, but the Bulls already have a similar player in Aaron Brooks so it will be interesting to see what they decide to do. Robinson only averaged 5.8 points in 14.1 minutes per game this season in Denver, but it's fair to assume that he could potentially play around 20 minutes per game if he landed in Chicago. We will continue to follow this story very closely, but it's safe to leave Robinson on the wire outside of deeper leagues. In the meantime, Kirk Hinrich and Aaron Brooks will do their best to pick up the slack for the Bulls, with Brooks being the being the most intriguing option in terms of fantasy value. I think they got the Ewing treatment to win the Lebron lottery. Technically the Clippers won the Kyrie lottery. And nobody won in the 2013 draft. And they won the lottery three other times as well. You could easily make the argument they they've the luckiest franchise on pro sports over the last quarter-century. It's not like their playoff losses have been bad luck, either. I don't recall them losing any close Game 7s or any heartbreaking buzzer beaters in the LeBron era.
At least he's making up for that by shooting a sizzling 41% from the field. Acquiring him was worth the risk for Dallas, even though it was obviously a poor fit, but it definitely isn't working out. I think Rondo ends up taking a one year deal somewhere next year to prove that he is worth big money. Has there been a worse starting point guard in the NBA this year? Calderon and Chalmers maybe?Rondo is shooting 31% from the line this year? Is that accurate? How is that possible?
You said in the old thread the playoffs in the west would be fun and they should be, but now that Rose is out can we just fast forward to the East finals with the Hawks and Cavaliers?"Good said:The Cavs are on an unholy tear.
Yeah, the East has lost quite a bit of luster over the past month. Rise of the Cavs coupled with the fall of the Wiz and now the Bulls makes it a three-team race. Sucks for those of us who can't stay up late enough to watch most of the West first round games. You said in the old thread the playoffs in the west would be fun and they should be, but now that Rose is out can we just fast forward to the East finals with the Hawks and Cavaliers?"Good said:The Cavs are on an unholy tear.
Second round of the East should be pretty good, I guess, but yeah, obviously one side is a lot more appealing than the other. Even the 1 v 8 matchup in the West is going to be great. You said in the old thread the playoffs in the west would be fun and they should be, but now that Rose is out can we just fast forward to the East finals with the Hawks and Cavaliers?"Good said:The Cavs are on an unholy tear.
So is Derek Rose's knee."Good said:The Cavs are on an unholy tear.
The problem with that is Nate is not a PG, he's a 5' 9" shooting guard.Juxtatarot said:Signing Robinson doesn't have to have anything to do with Brooks. I understand your point but don't completely agree. Although he certainly isn't a polished, traditional PG, he is passable for what the Bulls need. He has decent handles and can bring the ball up under pressure. Although streaky, he shoots OK from outside. He can create a shot at the end of the shot-clock if necessary. He already knows the system and most of his teammates. Who is out there better who is currently available? The problem with that is Nate is not a PG, he's a 5' 9" shooting guard.Juxtatarot said:Signing Robinson doesn't have to have anything to do with Brooks. First, the entire salaries of traded players are included in the cap floor calculations as of season's end. So, when the Sixers acquired JaVale McGee and Oklahoma City's increasingly more appetizing first round pick, the Sixers acquired an $11.25M salary for their cap calculation. But the Sixers will only need to pay McGee the amount he is owed for the rest of the season.
Depending on the payment structure agreed upon by McGee and the Nuggets, the Sixers would only need to pay out between $6.5-$8M to McGee for the rest of this season, and then $12M related to next year. Per Larry Coon's CBA FAQ, NBA players are paid bi-weekly over a 6-month, 12-month, or 18-month period (which is not publicly known - and rightfully so). The difference between the $11.25M and the actual remaining payments are cost savings for the Sixers.
And second, players claimed off waivers are the financial responsibility of claiming teams AND are included as a season-long contract for the claiming team. When the Sixers claimed Robinson, his contract amount is included in full for the rest of the season, provided the Sixers keep him in town or, if he's subsequently waived, another team does not claim him then. Depending on the report, that should provide the Sixers with at least $1M in cost savings.
If these moves hadn't been made, the Sixers would have needed to pay out the dollar amounts in full to the players on the roster. This turn of events is a bit unfortunate for the other players, considering that they were in for a nice additional bonus they'll no longer get.
As it stands, with the admittedly incomplete file given the assumptions that need to be made, the Sixers may have saved more than $7M in actual payments for differences between the cap and actual payment amounts with a conservative estimate.
ESPN devoted an enormous amount of space detailing (and praising) the Sixers organization and their philosophy. Simmons, in his new column trashes it in just a few sentences.Sixers passed the cap floor and saved millions: http://www.libertyballers.com/2015/2/25/8105597/the-sixers-have-passed-the-cap-floor-and-saved-millions
This may work out ok for Atlanta - looking like the 2/3 matchup will be Cavs/Raptors in some order and Hawks get a most likely Rose-less Bulls or Wiz/Bucks.Really hoping the Raptors fall to the 4 seed so they don't have to deal with them. They'll be a big favorite in round 2 against the Hawks or Raptors."Good said:The Cavs are on an unholy tear.
