I pretty much agree with this except Wiz over Raptors in 7.

- Hawks might take longer than expected if Milsap isn't truly healthy.

- I could see the Dubs losing 1 game due to The Brow going bonkers for 1 game with a 30/20/5/5/5 type game.

- Really hope the Clippers can knock out the Spurs, but I doubt it. They have enough athleticism to possibly do it, but the wing defense will be their down fall.

I agree with this, but I want to see the Spurs win. I think Leonard, Green, and Manu are going to have a great series against the Clippers.

I've talked myself into the Blazers knocking off the Grizz.

I think the Clips might have value as a dog, too. They've been almost as hot as the Spurs and the fact that it's the postseason makes their bench less problematic. Still problematic of course, but if they overcame it to this extent in the regular season you have to give them a bump in the postseason when the starter minutes go up.

Pop's hack-a strategy will be in full effect, i think. it will force Doc to make some hard choices when it comes to personnel. I think SA wins in 6 with Jordan making FT's in one game to decide it outright.

Sorry if repost. is a good read. Just watching them the past few years (including this one) just so obvious just watching them on the court.

Pierce continues his hilarious post-Celtics teammates scorched earth run today with the beat guys:

Pierce on scouting Raps: "We got a lot of guys that don’t pick up things quick. So to get 2 or 3 days is really going to work to our advantage"

Love all these NBA vets not giving a #### anymore with the media. It's awesome. My favorite quote regarding Otto Porter:

"That kid just needs to get mad. If he came to practice ticked off and to the games ticked off, he'd be fine. But it's hard to get Otto mad. I should punch him one day just to get him riled up."

It's pretty outstanding. I can't believe today's follow-up isn't getting more love. He basically said the playoff format is advantageous for the Wizards because his teammates are dumb and slow.

So maybe it's not the coaching?!

It's definitely not just the coaching.

Grantland oral history on Shaq-Magic was good.

Wanted to feel bad for N. Anderson after the missed free throws. But then he goes to Houston, during the finals, and buys a 150k Ferrari.

Larry Guess was throwing bombs whoever that is.

I was young when Shaq left ORL so I always just thought Shaq left because he wanted to be LA. Kind of crazy to think that the the Magic could have kept Shaq if they didn't low ball him. ####in idiots.

Has there ever been a playoff series where the losing coach gets fired? Seems to me, which ever coach coaches less, has a better chance to keep his job.

Is it wrong to be drinking at 9:30am? What a great sports days. A full day of NBA and NHL playoffs with a little UFC thrown in tonight :banned:

As more details of the new TV deal come in and other revenue projections sharpen, the future salary cap figures are more than just guesses. Big thing is there won't be just one big spike when the new TV contract kicks in - there will be two spikes in back to back seasons of similar size.

Owners have been told under the current CBA, the salary cap and luxury tax projections are:

(For reference, this season the cap is $63.1MM, the with luxury tax kicking in at $76.8MM)

2016: $67.1MM, 81.6MM

2017: $89MM, $108MM

2018: $108MM, $127MM

The rest of the TV deal (runs through 2021) projects cap between $100MM-$110MM with luxury tax in the $120MM-$130MM range.

Damn. Prepare for another lockout after the 2017 season.

You think? I would be surprised if the players association doesn't push very hard to just re-up the deal they have. The AVERAGE salary going into 2018 will be in the $8-10 million range, that is a ton of money to sacrifice to claw for an extra 5% or something. Same goes for the owners. With the way franchise values have been rising and how much money they stand to make with the new TV deal, they would be shooting themselves in the foot to fight the players association.

Asked this question last year during playoffs. In a pool where each round you pick 5 guys, add up there points, rebounds, assists. Can't use any guys more than once. Also doesn't matter if series goes 4 or 7 games.

So obviously looking for good players on teams that will lose in a lengthy series.

What you got for round 1?

Harden, Derozan, Paul, Griffin, Wall

In case it isnt obvious here, Pellies should really bench Asik for this series Play him in limited minutes behind Anthony Davis if you're going to play him. He gives you zero value/benefit in this series. Bogut can just play zone at the hoop anytime Asik is in the game. Got to think with how this 4th has gone for the Pelicans that they've got to at least look at doing it. Too bad it took until the 4th or we could be looking at a completely different result today in a game they played in most part w/o their 2nd best player currently in Evans. Pellies need to get a lot more out of Ryan Anderson

Paul/Griffin or Duncan/Leonard/Parker depending on who you think will lose that series.

Dirk

Greek Freak

LMA

East playoffs are actually unwatchable IMO. Not even shtick. Had that first game on today and bailed after 3 minutes. Horrible.

7 of the 8 teams still would have made the hypothetical combined playoffs. So they would have tainted a bunch of the first round matchups instead of just the east.

Bulls vs Cavs should be a good series. This might be the year Chicago gets over the LeBron hump...
Lol good luck with that.
Bulls are looking decent tonight. They need to limit turnovers and get better on defensive rotations, but this Bucks series will be a nice tune-up.

Rose looks really good so far. Even Noah is looking like Noah again. The Playoffs are here!!!
