Titans 2018 (2 Viewers)

OK, obviously we want Rams to lose today. What other scenarios are we pulling for in terms of getting better draft slots?

So the Titans have the 5th and 18th or 19th pick in the first round (depending on who wins the tiebreaker between them and DEN)

That's pretty good. Here's hoping that the Rams do not get a 3rd cound compensatory pick, because then the Titans also hold the 3.05

Who would warrant such a compensation from last years FA crop? I can't think of any big names leaving the Rams last off season

Janoris Jenkins signed a deal that works out to a bit more than $10 million per season with the Giants and he was a 2nd round pick by the Rams. Not sure if they get comp picks for him or how high.

what?

Janoris Jenkins might warrant a 3rd.  McLeod?

The formula for generating compensatory picks is not public but apparently has something to do with the size of the contract (he signed for 62m over 5 years). It also factors big contracts signed in FA by the Rams, so it's not a player for player deal per se AFAIUI

Yeah I am not sure what free agent signings the Rams made that might offset the compensation. I don't think they signed anyone for a big money contract themselves last year, so possible they are getting something back for Jenkins.

What's your first round wishlist?  I go back and forth between really wanting them to take Mike Williams or taking the two best defensive players available.

Agreed, but I'd like them to trade down,  reacquire a 2nd round pick and take kupp. Receiver and corner seem most pressing needs. Kupp and Davis best fit.
Oh yeah. Getting 2 would be sweet.  I've seen some guys on Titans Report talking about that TE from Bama or Miami also.

If they go with a TE, I'd prefer they take Jake Butt later. Just because he should fall due to injury and they can afford to wait for him to fully recover.

Can get behind that if the price is fair.  What will his salary look like long term vs Alshon Jeffery?
I'm no free agent contract expert.  I looked at spotrac and they have a market value.  Not sure how good they are.  They put Jeffery at 5yrs/$61 million and Cooks at 6 yrs/$80 million.

Currently on Roster, alphabetically

Amaro

Cunningham

Semich

Supernaw

Walker

Fasano is FA and they'll let him test the market.

Not a single one of the backups have shown that they can take over if Walker goes down.

I question that they have the time to develop a TE

But we all know Mularkey will draft at least one if not two...

According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, who originally reported the possibility of a trade last week, discussions with the Titans have included two scenarios: Tennessee sending its No. 18 overall pick to New Orleans for Cooks; or Tennessee sending its No. 5 pick (acquired from the Rams) to the New Orleans in exchange for No. 11 pick and Cooks

I could get being the 5 for 11 and cooks but not the 18 straight.

Thinking about this a bit more, I want the Titans to sign Pierre Garçon.  Sure he's a bit older and not elite, but he's a very good teammate and should be much more affordable than Jeffery. He's the kind of consistent performer meshes well with the offense and along with walker provides a good veteran presence on a young team.

Cooks is exciting but if he's not happy with brees in that offense he's probably not going to be thrilled with the Titans offense, as good as Mariota is.

Semich is a future's player, one of the worst tight ends when he came out of college and has done little in the NFL. He is almost exclusively a blocker.

Amaro did fine filling in for Walker but he can't block. He did pretty well for being an obvious 3rd down sub. His blocking made him inactive most weeks.

Cunningham was rarely active.

Supernaw is a restricted free agent. The Titans have not tendered any RFAs or made offers to UFAs. They have til Thursday or he becomes a free agent. Supposedly he is a "yes coach" guy that Mularkey appreciates. He doesn't play a whole lot and does more on special teams than offense.Technically he is not under contract.

Titans often claim Dennis Kelly is a TE, blocking TE then that switched to 3rd tackle. This terminology game could matter for roster cuts.

The offensive line needed a total makeover and it went well. I imagine Amaro's blocking could be the focus of some assistant coach for his first offseason with the team. There's only like 12 full contact practices in-season, so it wasn't likely they could fix this in 2016. Last year, Robinson and Mularkey said something like "we are not in the business of developing players." They sure did with Sharpe and Byard, but didn't seem interested in doing so with Hunter and DGB. It might be some fancy way of saying "we're cutting player X" but for guys like Amaro it creates a whole hmmmm series of thoughts.

Fasano isn't likely to have a big market for his services nor be inclined to move his family. He likes it in TEN and is very likely to re-sign.

Last year, the Titans messed up at the end of the summer. They had Alex Ellis in camp. He went to the University of Tennessee. They released him and planned for him to spend the year off and on the practice squad. Amidst the Titans "games" with the PS, the Jags offered him a tryout, signed him, cut him, then gave him about 500k for two years. They like him a lot for a nobody. He only made 70-100k for the Titans. The Jags seem to plan on him being a key backup in 2017.

Free agent Jack Doyle was once a Titan and is (free agent) Antonio Andrews' buddy.

They probably can "make due" for another season and add some UDFAs but 2018 could look slim. Delanie's fountain of youth makes this unpredictable

Titans sign Logan Ryan, CB (ex NE), 3 years 30m, broken by Caplan and confirmed by Shefter

ETA: I like it

ETA2: Brandon Williams apparently now the highest paid NT in football

Former Jags S Johnathan Cyprien is going to do a deal today after 4pm with the Titans, per source.

Worst coverage SS in every chart I see. Best tackling SS in most, second best in others

Titans now have two $7 million dollar SS so Searcy may be moved.

I think this is a bad move and their past has me extremely leery of players that can't cover well

Agreed on Ryan.  Not as big on cryp keeper.

Titans closing in on deal with Hightower. Hope it's not leverage move against Pats, that would be huge
