Titans 2018 (1 Viewer)

DBs all switched presnap. Tons of movement. That was their I'm a CB no I'm a safety stuff.

Mitchell ran rather than mess with it

Henry has looked awesome imo. He needs to see the field in the regular season. Murray is no slouch but Henry looks like he's lost some weight and got really fast. That 4th down run that got blown dead he showed good vision.

Dodd just got carried by the RB for a first. Nice job getting in there but then he got taken for a ride

Doubled Brown again, Carraway unblocked. Trubisky threw it away

D'Joun lets Davis get open again.

Carraway sheds his guy, gets RB, and then Woods jumps on top

Run up the middle with Woods there. Nothing

I'm sure the titans fans love seeing Corey Davis' brother out there making plays.
He's not bad. I didn't realize he even existed before this game. I don't know how he's done all preseason, but if he's this productive, they ought to keep him. They can afford to lose a "has been" and keep him.

Krause dropped one right to him. A bullet but he should have had it.

There's Jennings again

Krause at the sl, good feet

Krause again, nice

Corey Levin let's his guy in and tackles him. No penalty called. Marz' guy gets past him to cause fumble by Cassel

Titus Davis has kicked around the league for a couple years, udfa I believe. In college he broke Antonio browns records at central Michigan.

Tanner gentry is the dark horse guy here. He's got decent size, very quick, small school guy. Seems to be able to get downfield quick. Heard his name in the predraft process, but didn't really follow him after he went undrafted.

Bates fumble recovery

Tanney in 1:46 left

Fluellen catch for 10 or so, again for 7

Hey there's Mabon for 12 or so

Mabon nice effort on sl but not in. Pushed out

Fluellen again for 11 or so

unnecessary roughness on Marz going after DE that was on the ground...doh

2nd and 25 ugly pass to Mabon deep

:35 left Dennis Kelly let his man get to Tanney easily. He's had a bad preseason at T

(Kline hasn't played C today. Lelito has)

Fluellen nice catch N run for 23 yards, needed 25

:21 Bears kneel down

alot of balls were caught on him early. That's what he needed, experience. Good for him.

Too many mistakes

Have to overcome ourselves, let alone beat anybody

Had to respond to a poor showing in the first half.

(Recovering punt at 3yl) that won't happen again. I promise you that

LS had a tough assignment.

Spain getting thrown out, that's unacceptable. I don't care how many times you get punched. To throw back, that's unacceptable

Taylor- I think he's OK.

Relatively healthy, Boykins had a groin

Wallace back bothering him

He can be a factor-Taylor

If a guy's not open, he's been instructed to throw it away. Have to watch the tape first

Murray had a good week, good Friday. Showed him to 15 plays, felt good about it. Not a whole lot of places for him to run with the way our guys were blocking

I gotta do a better job of finding a way to do that (overcome falling behind)

Daquan most snaps at nose, trying to see who the best front is

Begrudgingly saying he likes Marz. What a dopey Q

Chicago has a good front seven. They're hard to move, hard to block. Hicks is a load. We struggled to move him all day.

(Tajae)I thought he struggled. He was up and down but it was good for him to get experience.

Avoided Sims versus Adoree

Woods is playing at a good level. He really is. Understanding that at his level we're trying to monitor his snaps. Mentioned Morgan and other stars limiting snaps. WOW Bak to praising woods as if he's an elite starter

Josh Allen's main target last season. Bears have something special with him.

From what we learned... NFL.com

3. Mike Mularkey was disgusted by a first-half performance that yielded zero points, telling the broadcast team that he was unhappy with the offense, defense and special teams (the Titans had a blocked punt in the first half). The result? Titans' starters in until the fourth quarter. It wasn't until a 3-yard Derrick Henry touchdown catch that Mularkey pulled them out. After Henry's touchdown, tackle Taylor Lewan took off his helmet and head-butted it -- a gesture caught in slow motion and re-aired on television. It's clear the score was a weight off their backs after a not-so-good afternoon.

4. Marcus Mariota struggled in particular. I noted after one of his earlier performances this preseason that Mariota seemed sturdier and perhaps more accurate. That was not the case Sunday. I counted at least a half dozen overthrows; moderate-to-high-risk attempts that were skied over the intended targets. Analyst Charles Davis said it was Mariota not "finishing the throw." To me, that was almost visible in real time. Mariota was, at times, like a little league pitcher learning to follow through again. Of course, Mariota also dazzled on Sunday and made throws that only a small percentage of the NFL can make. Mularkey will take the good with the bad.

5. A rough but also encouraging day for Titans rookie corner Jackson. Jackson was picked on all afternoon, though mostly due to his inexperience. I thought Jackson was never really out of position, but the victim of a great catch by Meredith and maybe some youthful aggression.

Taywan Taylor was named the starter today, inadvertently. Major congratulations to him.

Mularkey said Davis will return this week and play in a limited role in week one. Then he said it was fair to say Taylor is well ahead of Davis. THEN he agreed when a reporter asked if Decker would be in the slot. He said that's where he(Decker) has played the most.

Quite a feat for a third rounder when the team selected the top WR and signed a key free agent WR

Mularkey said Dodd played well. Third week in a row that he stunk and Mularkey complimented him.

He said they have made a decision at the NT position but won't let it known.

Everyone will play, all 90, next week. The starters are probably a series or two. They're going to do their best to get all 90 in and their priority is to get anyone in that hasn't played yet because he feels they owe them that.

Wouldn't say the plan but nodded in agreement when asked if he'd do the cuts in stages. He said he and Robinson have a plan. So it's probably going to be some guys friday, some saturday.

Said three times that special teams will be a big factor in making the team. Later added "also versatility" to it.

As the presser went on, he started saying everyone is doing pretty well-like you name a player and he said that guy is doing pretty well. He wasn't giving up nothin'! He's very forward and I greatly appreciate it, but today was the start of a week of tight lips for him and JRob.

Jonnu got too excited blocking on one play. He kept hitting the next guy and next guy and went after a Safety messing up Matthews' route. That's like the greatest mistake. I love that. Think of how fast he had to be knocking guys and running to get into Matthews way too

There were a ton of new voices in the room today asking Qs. Wyatt was in a tux with a pink tye! I have no idea what's going on but there were an extra large amount of reporters there. I would guess it's going to be some announcement about them doing something for Houston- the owner's home town, as she calls it.

Two reporters saying I jumped the gun on Taylor.

Both admit Decker will largely play in the slot and Matthews at the one spot, but both say something like "Mularkey said Taylor's clearly ahead of Davis. He didn't say he's starting."

Picking nits!

I wanted to give some props to Mularkey today.

Do you remember how he took the team over and spoke of consistency from the lesser players and especially the wide receivers? It was possibly the most common word he said one year.

He has spent his time during the presser and on radio explaining how he expects consistency from his offense and defense. That's what it will take to get to the next level and he's been preaching that this offseason.

It may be minor, but I like how he spun that from using the word with a bad team to with a good team this year. They really haven't been consistent for such a long time. Also wouldn't you say BB and Brady are consistent? I can only imagine his speeches all offseason, but...yeah I like what he did there

Technically they may be correct and that doesn't mean things won't change when Davis gets healthy enough to play, but as of now that's pretty much just calling it like it is, Davis hasn't been able to perform consistently enough to be ahead of Taylor right now.

You were at the presser?

Titans released Jeremy Boykins and Mekhale McKay injured. Neither has a serious injury but teams have been known to play games. I could see them either on the PS or IR so that they're with the team next year. Boykins showed excellent athleticism and adjusted well to the CB/S role. McKay is a 6-5 WR that was impressive with the third string til he got hurt early in camp. He DID make plays against some first string DBs and fans posted pics of him during camp.

McBride has a year of PS experience left but it's widely assumed he will not clear waivers. The Titans always have a WR or two on the PS. I don't believe it will be Jonathan Krause because he hasn't received reps with the first string which usually is a sign of interest. If not McKay, then I guess they will pick up someone that is waived for their PS.

An outstanding source told me that Sylvester Williams and the team doctor visited another physician today in regards to his ankle surgery he had prior to signing with the team.

I don't know if this gives them an out here or what's up. It was just hmmm, it's not injured so what are they doing? Seeing another doctor also seems to indicate something

Maybe it's giving discomfort and it could be an issue down the line?

ETA: Or maybe preparing to try to recuperate some of his signing bonus when they cut him. IR?

I now know what happened.

The meeting with a doc was to discuss another surgery. No idea if he went for it or not. I assume he didn't since there hasn't been any news on this.

As far as the previous "out" I did email today.  That's not possible. The only time a team has an out is that they can make a binding offer pending a physical. Once he passes a physical, it's set in stone.

A player incapable of playing can be offered an injury settlement (usually half) but he can play so this wouldn't matter here either.

USAToday got me a ton of exposure with this http://titanswire.usatoday.com/2017/07/20/titans-depth-chart-change-could-be-coming-for-interior-offensive-line/amp/

"Josue Matias

The Florida State product dealt with a season-ending injury and spent his entire rookie year on the Titans practice squad. However, Matias is a name to look out for. Brian Moore of Yahoo Sports predicted that Matias will overtake Kline for the starting right guard spot this season. Matias was a member of great FSU line in college and he looked good with the second team during the 2016 preseason. Matias could wind up on the 53-man roster if he has another strong preseason, and there’s a chance he could rise up the depth chart to challenge Lelito for the backup role."

Gannet newspapers ran with it (mostly FL) and some sites. I was oh so thankful.

I'm sweating it now though.

I am not wrong on Kline. There is almost no debate there. Did you hear Cosell on 1045 yesterday? He is mentioning how Kline struggles. I forget how he politely said he had a bad preseason. "Very not good?" "Quite concerned?" Whatever the wording, Kline's struggles are evident.

Cosell pointed out that it's affected Conklin. Conklin has allowed a sack each game. If they take away the TE and the G play next to him suffers, it changes things. Cosell said he thought Conklin would have pass pro issues as a rookie but (obviously) he did very well.

Now there's some concern that Walker and Smith could play less to put Supernaw next to Conklin(hard not to curse when ya hear that)

What's missing though is Matias.

PK said he does great against second and third stringers in camp too. He said Josue hasn't run with the ones in a long time. It's been Kline and trying to convert Marz to a G.

Marz has either stunk or been just OK, never impressive. He seems to be a very good tackle but...not a guard.

Matias has played tackle in college and even did so as a rookie with the Titans.

I asked PK why, why not just promote Josue and he explains that he doesn't know but if they're not doing it, there must be an issue with Josue. He about tells me to drop it, not happening because he's not running with the ones at all anymore.

These things always bug me. Sports should be- bench the player not doing well, promote the guy doing well. Anytime it is not like that, it irritates me.

I think one thing to gather from all of this is, the Titans are in the market for a G. If they can sign or trade for a good one, all of this goes away

Titans announced practices will be closed this year.

Jason Wolf of the Tennessean has been tweeting out some odd sets and alignments.

The agreement has always been not to do that stuff. This is the way to be as a reporter. When I went to any camp (pro or college) they always ask you to be cognizant of this and keep the team's best interests at heart. It might even be in the PFWA handbook. I'm not sure. I haven't read it in years.

JRob? Is reducing these beat writers to....errr me and the diehard fans. All they'll see is pressers.

Munchak did this the same way as Belichick. He made this announcement and then gave some specific reporters access, so he kind of backed off.

Whisenhunt did this the year he was fired. Reporters were told when the presser was gonna be and they could go in the locker room to interview players after the presser.

Fisher once kicked a reporter out and then did a big man thing and apologized even though he wasn't wrong. Otherwise, AFAIK Fisher always had reporters at practice.

As I scroll down twitter timelines, I'm not finding other Titans reporters doing this. It's just Wolf. I feel bad calling a reporter out, but geesh it's right there for everyone to see.

I think fans that have never covered a team can understand this stuff too.

Another thing- The Tennessean was surpassed by a Chattanooga paper as the premier Tennessee Sports section, best coverage, and even best paper. The Chattanooga paper won most of the awards given.

I won't keep discussing this because I know it's boring to y'all but...I thought it was worth mentioning once

Kelly allowed a sack 4 for 4 games geesh

It's Kelly, Matias, (didn't see) Levin, and Marz on the OL

Some starters on D sitting

Brown horrible coverage on Chiefs TE randle?Randolph?

Denzel SS with Searcy deep, that's new

Daquan Jones in and didn't do much at DE.

3 blockers on Woods for run up the middle and he still stopped it

Adoree had an INT but they ruled him out of bounds

Slant to Tajae

Fluellen meh

Jonnu nice catch on sideline deep

8-9 yard run by Fluellen, Jonnu leading the way

very little by Flu, but a first

Nothing, fluellen bounced outside for 8

ran right, got nothing. Marz and Levin did nothing

3rd and 1, Matias false start

3rd and 6 Cassel threw to endzone, Sharpe didn't seem like he knew where the ball was. Announcers saying same. What the

FG

Searcy in at FS, let's go deep

53 yards to Robinson with Sims covering

They better keep Denzel

Mahomes ran right by Williams. Williams paused to look at feet, whiffed grabbing him, and he went on by

I'd say that ankle is an issue

Runner left, Woods slides over to get him

Someone hit Mahomes, no replay, he made poor throw to TE
