Titans 2018 (1 Viewer)

So, Murray, move forward, not back...

Let's see a little Henry

ETA: That was nice, Henry TD

The Raider's first TD drive was just pathetic D

Blake  -   WTF?
I want him gone and am getting angry about it.

This is what every Steelers fan said about him and Spence-that they stink in coverage, so don't "give me" that they're familiar with Lebeau's D as if they had success in it. Blake allowed more yards to WRs than any other CB last year and this looks no different.

Spence made a huge hit, yes, but now there's three weeks where Avery is looking over like "where are you?" and Spence has been out of position allowing a TD and other big plays. In it's simplest, Lebeau's D for Spence is not all that difficult. You're either in coverage or rushing the passer. As someone on twitter said, he runs to the LOS and stops. What is that? Get in there and mix it up with the OL or get your butt back in coverage. Spence is no longer the dime backer. Although announced a month or so ago, he lost that to the safeties. The Titans are aware he has coverage issues to make that change but otherwise it's like Blake. They know there's a problem and aren't doing a thing. There's a reason the Steelers didn't re-sign these guys or make offers...cmon

No snaps for Hunter as far as I could see through 3rd qtr. That can't be good
He played every quarter or early 2nd. First time I noticed was in for Andre when he had a few in a row and probably needed a breather.

Not just Hunter but the 12 WRs....five passes by backup QBs? FIVE? You're not evaluating jack if you only call five pass plays. Game one and game three have been pathetic in this regard. We fans won't know. They will have almost zero game tape to judge. I don't like it at all.

Second time with Mariota's offense. A series which is all his play calls. They discuss in meetings and coaches give him reads and suggestions and...otherwise it's all him on gameday. I absolutely loved it.

He is more intelligent than I thought and with those legs...look out NFL. That guy is custom made for ad-libbing. Maybe best of all is how he looks very comfy the next series like he just blew off some steam the prior one. Traditional pocket offenses and this exotic smash mouth can be awfully limiting and restrictive for athletic QBs. It just looks fun, it really does-maybe like recess or kids in a park. I love it.

Blake  -   WTF?
three games in a row. They should almost spot the other team 7.

And Al Woods looks like garbage on every one. Put the UDFA Wall in on the first series at least

Blidi waived. Gallik injury waived

Blake somehow survived
Mularkey said he has a role and is a good ST guy so he's gonna make it.

I'm watching and I see Antonio, Fluellen, TZ, Roberts, Staples, Grant, Riggs....I haven't seen Blake do squat on ST

Mount has played very well, just a depth issue. He should be picked up ASAP.

A total of 12 players were waived today: safety Lamarcus Brutus, lineman Will Campbell, receiver Donte Foster, linebacker Amarlo Herrera, receiver Reece Horn, linebacker Deiontrez Mount, cornerback Tyler Patmon, defensive lineman Ropati Pitoitua, guard Nick Ritcher, defensive end Mike Smith and cornerback Blidi Wreh-Wilson.The Titans also waived/injured center Andy Gallik.

Jarrod West was only signed like a week or two ago. Interesting that he made this round of cuts and hasn't seen a snap yet

Bri,

I tend to think the Titans will be playing from behind quite a bit, so the Mariota-type drive might be more common than is being predicted.

Am I way off or?

They said one series a game, maybe two if all goes well

Kendall Wright reinjured his hamstring now he'll sit this week and practice for week one.

Mularkey said he is still a starter(in slot and again that he is exclusively a slot wr) despite just 3 practices.

New depth chart released. Hunter is sharpe's backup. Not sure if that's posturing for a trade.TZ is behind him.

McBride listed as fourth behind Matthews and Mularkey said 3rd in slot during presser.

Their depth charts have been garbage but looks like McBride is gone.

If Hunter is gone then that would mean TZ is a primary backup...but again they've been garbage charts

I printed and crossed out the cut players. I count 77 not 75. That would mean two must be cut today.

I'm curious if that wasn't for trade purposes

Titansinsider 53 man projection

I think I would keep an extra receiver (McBride or Hunter?) over Sean Spence, and keep Blake only for long enough to hire someone else's cast off

I think I'd keep both Hunter and McBride over McCluster, but realize that the return game might suffer.

Harry Douglas still here? What? The second Wright is back and comfortable, cut him and get one of the youngsters back

I played for you previously type loyalty is rampant and very negative right now. Maybe the former Steelers came to Ten because they stunk. Aaron Wallace has been out and running with the fourth string when healthy. Since when do 4th stringers make it?

McCluster is the backup return guy and has a niche role as 3rd down back. Mularkey acts like he's a star. PK had been calling for keeping Sankey over him. McCluster doesn't do too too much return work anymore. They've been having DBs, Henry, and Andrews do it. PK backed off the Sankey stuff recently though. It's time for him to go. He needs a new start and to lose the "not a star" or "bust" label and just be an NFL player.

Ya know I'd keep McBride and Hunter over Douglas. I'm getting real annoyed about McBride turning it around, producing, and the notion of them letting him go.

Terry McCormick is probably right there. Why keep so many ILBs? The battle for ILB next to Avery..eh let's just keep everyone. What the...make a decision! Woodall, Spence, Palmer, Wallace...pick two

I'm of the opinion JR Tavai is going to be a special in 2016 for someone else. So sick of him making plays every single time and then getting buried on the depth chart. Some team will pick him up, their starter will get hurt, and Tavai will become newsworthy. I'd bet big $ on Horton grabbing him too.

Cody Riggs is on several sites lists of expected cuts to sign.

Antwan Blake's huge physique dealing big hits on ST. Yes that's cool. It's still just a tackle though and no reason to keep a guy.

No one signed by the Titans, other teams are signing players but as usual no one is signed by the Titans.

Gonna be a whiney week as we see Robinson's ego cut these Webster players. I hate that about the NFL, hate it. Who gives a who drafted the guy, is he good? Keep him

Mix of rumor and fact here...grain of salt....as Robinson tried to trade RBs, he learned other teams wanted McCluster not Sankey Cobb Andrews. Titans trying different returners all summer could be to trade McCluster.

Supposedly Mularkey said Tajae Sharpe second most talented player on team. First? Hunter. So before last game some are scrambling to figure out how Hunter makes it.

about McBride. All this talk of him becoming their best route runner and so committed to it this offseason. They showed his ritual. Team bus arrives, he gets dressed quick and goes out to the field. (rest of players won't be there for hours) He practices running routes and ties and unties his cleats til he gets them perfect- the tightness of his cleats and the cuts.

What this kid is becoming is wonderful. They are sooo going to cut him and irk me...totally see that coming. For those that missed preseason...ya gotta see him tonight. Last year was a mirage, different player.

ETA

I listened to talk of this McCluster stuff all game. I don't agree and think anyone allowed to sit is safe-case closed. He's sat or barely played. IIRC a couple times he was excused for personal reasons

Looks like Andrews is getting a lot of looks tonight,

And Douglas seems to be in.

Hunter very lazy on the first Tanney INT

Heh I watched that replay like 20 times. I thought that initially and not until they showed the replay did I notice him reaching a hand forward to try and knock the ball away. I was thinking "Are you using your super athleticism to make laziness look good?" Even on the route, the DB covering him is motoring and he looks like he's jogging. That other DB that intercepted it...bad throw by Tanney but wow I didn't think a CB could jump that high. I'd have probably fell for that too. He was there, totally set Tanney up like he's out of position just throw it with a little arc and you've got Hunter, and then what a leap!

The second one was Tanney too IMO.

Wyatt tweeted both were on Tanney. The FO guy pointed out that Tanney looked away for like a half second and otherwise followed Hunter the whole route totally telegraphing. I didn't notice that

My comment on the lazyness was mostly my impression on the hustle after the ball was caught and the DB was returning it.

Not blaming Hunter for the INT at all, he had no way of knowing that the Dolphin would jump in front of him. If it was not on Tanney (which is doubtful) then certainly it was a great play by the CB. The Dolphins announcers said that the CB, I forget his name, was a converted WR and used that skill set to his advantage.

I want him if he gets cut

If we can't have tall CBs because CFB doesn't produce em, then I want that guy that can leap like that

Tony Lippett is his name ( just looked it up). He won't be cut, he is listed as 1st string CB on their Depth Chart :sadbanana:

Hey Bri/msommer - a lot of focus on the offensive skill players, what about the defense. Does LeBeau have a top ten D this year? I like Jones as a run stopper & they have a couple  good-but-not edge rushers. Cox and McCourty seem below average & it seems like the DBs will be a weak point again.

What's your take?

I googled him last night. I thought he was Ronnie Lippett's son but...nope.

I saw that too. On Ourlads I think. How can he be first string and playing against Hunter?  I mean I guess he is, but I sure didn't think it was accurate if he was in there. I didn't think their CBs on depth chart were very good. I was thinking well they don't look so good, he's probably staying.

I've only watched about four quarters of Titans football but my impression is that the D is not there yet.

The corners are weak, and the LBs are not that great n coverage (Bri's mentioned Sean Spence being out of position mutiple times).

I've not seen a lot of pressure from the front seven. Granted it is the pre-season so it's all vanilla but even so. There was a sack last night from a third string DE

Yeah absolutely.

I think the season will be a lot of "we know Blake stinks, why play him" anger. I have never liked McCourty and always thought he plays like the round he was drafted in, stop talking about his brother. They love him though.

They can totally get after a QB like any Lebeau D.

Their prob last year was allowing the big play to the WR and running up the middle with ease. Pretty sure they were tops in LB sacks when Morgan got hurt.

Al Woods has stepped up some but IMO he should be gone. I love Antwuan Woods. He's got such the classic NT to him. The gut, the fight, the "I may not win but you're not moving me" spirit. Each week in preseason there was a clear difference when Al left and Antwuan came in. Last year they drafted a NT who is very athletic and have been playing him as LDE backup and part time nose tackle. I was calling for their 2nd rounder to be cut or traded. He's fourth sting. Well the other day I saw a video and kind of fell in love with that big dude. He is always at the sideline or down the field when the RB is tackled. Obviously not a play, but since when do NTs run that fast and get there? I still think Al needs to go. You don't keep four NTs and they seem ready to.

I think Avery Williamson is a special player and the world will fall in love with the guy, if the NT can hold his own and he is allowed to play ILB not just do the same thing over and over. I mean teams just pounded and pounded the run once they realized the Titans couldn't stop it up the middle.

OLB depth is stupid deep. Studs in Orakpo and Morgan, veteran backup in Bass, then typical hungry youngster that can all make plays.

Everyone say DaQuan Jones is wayyy better and I've yet to see it in a game, but every reporter says it like it's a done deal-he's a stud. I never thought he had "it" and wanted Blackson there.

Kevin Dodd is very curious. He's going to be backup OLB and DE, put in like a weapon for Lebeau. I imagine that is still the plan but he has no time to learn the OLB position so he might just be a DE this year.

They have four starting caliber safeties and should trade one. So many teams suffered injuries to safeties this summer and they don't need four that good. A career backup like Huff that does well on ST, he should be the backup.

Cox was phenomenal to start 2015 and then got banged up and joined the party of CBs allowing big plays. He allowed one catch or zero? through the first 4-5 weeks. They're really lacking at CB and they won't be a top 5 D (like Lebeau's goal is) til McCourty plays like the stud they claim he is. Brice McCain is meh but he's probably fine as a slot CB. It just all reverts to can you stop the #1 WR and they can't. The entire rest of the D is being built very nicely and they look like Lebeau guys thru n thru, but I see no reason for Robinson, TY, and DeAndre to have any concern. CB depth is better, somewhat classic now- young ballhawk who gets burned in coverage yet makes INTs too. Young hustler types that might hit too much. Never gonna escape the lack of a star though.

They needed Ramsey but they also needed a tackle. They had the money for Norman but apparently didn't offer enough. A team like Atlanta or old Detroit would destroy them with the WR1 getting 20 passes. As long as teams try to be balanced, they do have the players to stop the rest. The way to beat them is to just throw all day to the #1WR.

Derrick Henry looks great. If they can run anywhere near as well as preseason, that's gonna help the D too. I don't see any reason for that beast to suddenly be easy to tackle. I think the run success will continue, just probably "very good" and not "super" stat totals.

Flipping furious Antwuan Woods got cut

You've gotta be kidding me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mularkey totally did McCluster wrong. Really rather unbelievable.

If you google all his positive comments and letting him take time off and doesn't need the reps and...you release him?

The trade talk was only surprising, still fine for Dex but to out n out release the guy? Your coach's pet?

This will be a HUGE problem in the locker room. It's gotta be

Shocked by the Dexter cut since he seemed to offer a skillset nobody else did. What do you think this means Titans RB usage?
Andrews is a fine receiver as is Fowler. Both tough runners and good blockers too. It adds to the exotic smashmouth label.

Fluellen was higher than Sankey on the depth chart. Inadvertently, this made people discuss him. He might not clear waivers for the PS now. The Titans have done a horrible job of bringing attention to players they hope will sneak onto their PS.

Mularkey presser-

He is sad, stressed, sooooo obvious.

Tre is return guy. Confident in Byard, needs work though
Reed needed to do well on returns to make team? Yes and that's on me. I didn't have him prepared well enough for that.

McCluster difficult cut

Tanney made it, he and Cassel will run scout team

PK suggest Kendall. He responds  Harry can do returns

Tre plays ST, Hunter does not, but more than that,  consistency

Mehdi has got better and better, brings it everytime every practice. He's a load to handle. He's got a bright future ahead of him. Not a lot of guys his size. Got in backfield alot last night

Austin has played better the last two weeks and if you put a depth chart together he would have been ahead of Woods(Antwaun)....bs he ran with 4s Antwaun with 2s

No position or set number of players they're going after on WW

Doesn't say be here today gone tomorrow to guys that could be cut due to WW pickups

Camp very positive experience

Comfortable with roster? we are

Moves made for flexibility on WW? We did

Monday morning meetings

We gotta stop Adrian Peterson. Whoever the quarterback is. He is, as I call them, game wreckers.

Murray and Henry can go the distance, idk if you need a scat back

Robinson and he "pretty much" on the same page.

We'd like to have some PS guys back Sunday

Praising Huff and Turzilli, numbers would have liked to have them, Gave it their all every day

No trades. There's been discussions with that but nothing til we look at the waiver wire.

Position group most happy with- the OL

INTs on Alex but they want the depth and complimenting rest of Alex's offseason.

Can't hear Q something like but that affects Hunter didn't it? Hunter making the team did not come down to two throws. Looked real annoyed. Says "is that it? OK?" (no pause) presser is over.

After presser tweets-

Terry McCormick tweeted Mularkey said they were not close to trading any players.

Said that he should have said pleased with defensive line too

Another reporter says he excused himself

Wow he's upset. I guess that's good, cares about em' all

Keenan Reynolds to be released by Ravens. Devin Hester working out.

I hear his name on the radio all the time. Guy is super popular in TEN

What position did he play besides return guy in Baltimore? QB? WR?

ETA I see he grew up in Tennessee

Quick google reads like he stunk at WR, light came on last couple weeks, too late to make roster.

Titans sent bunch of gifts to STL Titans fans.

Usual fan stuff and some old signed items from meh players. Perfect way to clean out a closet.

"Thousands" as per twitter.

TEN fans annoyed they've been fans for X years and they got nothing.

They are rrrrrrreally going after those fans

How did they get addresses? A message here N there would make sense but for thousands? Someone in their PR dept is genius and needs a raise

I forgot to post here...

Amy Adams Strunk had a meeting with NFL. She has been living in her house in Tennessee and they cleared the air. After the meeting, she was named to the HOF committee(it's a planning committee, an overseer not a voting one).

So all that Titans ownership issue stuff seems to be behind them now.

I was kind of hoping they wouldn't and Peyton would buy the team, to be honest

Happy McCluster got the axe, unhappy Dóuglas didn't. Not happy with Turzili and Antwuan Woods cuts. Don't know what to think about Fluellen and Poutasi.

Oh and they listed Bleeding on NFL.com as cut again to make it to 53

I see more of a Jets connection than a Pats one from Robinson. I wonder about that some.

Amaro is someone the jets had real high hopes for. Following Cunningham to Ten is odd
