Titans 2018 (1 Viewer)

Reporters are not allowed in practice this year.

It was confirmed though that Woods will get reps with the ones and it is still possible he's active on game day

There has never been a coach like Mularkey on cutdown day. I've never heard of such a thing

After the Colts cut him, Titans have brought back Schwenke. Lelito cut.
Levin will be cut and moved to the PS then. Gotta be something with Levin now

They had an issue with no quality backup center. They don't need two backup Cs. It's not like Jones is injury prone.

Ya know I love Matias, but one of the waiver Gs would be better.

Levin was pretty good week four and otherwise had a bad summer with just a few good days. That should put him on the PS with hopes for the future. It shouldn't put him on the active roster of a top NFL team. It would have put him on the active roster of our bad Titans teams, but the bar is higher now.

Another way to look at it is, they have two poor backup Gs. Gotta upgrade there.

Spain missed time last year and was booted from a game in preseason. If any spot is likely to play it'd be the backup G. Schwenke and Levin aren't that guy.

If Conklin or Lewan go down, they like Kelly. He played well last year but he had a bad preseason allowing five sacks in less than full games. Regardless, they need a guard that they trust as they do Kelly.

Tanney was initially misdiagnosed and broke his foot.

Tajae is going to a specialist

This spring or the previous spring, the Titans longtime team doctor retired

Dodd, Tajae, and Williams all seem to still have issues with their feet and ankles after surgery. Davis took longer than expected to recover. I wonder if there isn't some closed door hmmmm going on

Davis is too excited in the video on Titans site. "This is my dream, it's what I worked for. I'm so amped up...." calm down rook. Congratulations but I'm now expecting you to be super nervous or one of those guys that couldn't sleep all week.

Preseason action would have helped with this too

There's some debate whether an NFL team has to designate a player for return. The IR rule was changed to allow two players to return this spring, but it's unclear of the designation.
There's no debate.  They don't have to designate him for return, but only players put on IR after the season started (were on final 53 man roster) are eligible to return.  So all those players put on IR before final cuts are done for the year.  This is why a bunch of teams kept guys, then put them on IR the next day only to re-sign someone to take that roster spot.  Rico Gathers for sure, I think Edwin Jackson was too.

Yeah we've been feeling through the rule change. I went deep into google and couldn't find squat a few days ago. Everything focused on the change from 1 to 2. It was frustrating.

I do know this now. Few threads here, didn't come back to update this one. Should have.

Tanney has since been announced as having a broken foot.

Douglas has a six week injury and can return as per Mularkey

Mekale McKay signed his injury settlement and is officially waived.

Can the Titans sign him to their PS tomorrow? I realize other teams can sign him, but I couldn't be more confused about whether the Titans can.

They really liked him until he got hurt

The last PS spot was filled by Kenneth Durden, a Raiders CB.

No Matias.

If you're a dad, family guy, etc You might look for Titans yesterday on Instagram and social networks. Yesterday was their last day off (Saturday isn't much) and they all seemed to have spent time with their families and posted pics of it and all.

I imagine their families know life is about to change as their hubbies fly city to city for a few months. Anyway, I like the human angle of it all. It's nice to see them turn into regular guys pushing their kids on a bike or tossing a ball with their kiddo

Mularkey presser

LeShaun injured groin

Lewan twisted ankle

Not concerned should play

Davis more reps in practice today than any day since injury

You don't want a guy to fail. We're gonna be smart with him. We're not gonna expose him to thing he can't be successful with

Raiders, good test, nice compliment of skill player

Lynch we're not gonna take him lightly, I promise you

All red zone scheming tonight. (Marcus' success....) Yeah but gotta run the ball there. Strong down there last year. We've got some different weapons. Hopefully we can continue that, but that's not a given. We've gotta work on that

Both teams rush 5, design of the defense

Jayon- He's been impressive since the day he got here. It's gonna be a good test for him as well

Watched enough tape, Mack not always opposite Taylor but he'll be there

Presents unique challenges? He's a hard guy to block

Mack- He's powerful for his size. The speed. He just makes some plays. He's out of it, you blocked him, and all of a sudden he makes a strip sack. Gotta block him til whistle

Dopey Q about how important game is

Decker's precision make it easier for him to get in rhythm with a QB? Yeah, that's a veteran receiver lining up in the right place, etc. If you do it right, it's pretty evident that Marcus will get it to ya.

Tim Shaw to be at every game and represent at coin toss

Davis did not stay late with Decker and Marcus and Davis was not planning to go to Marcus' to go over plays tonight.

Good luck with Marcus' guilt trip tomorrow, rookie. Marcus will cast his spell on you soon enough

WTH.....seems to be the theme with Davis. What is wrong with this guy? I thought character/workmanship was one of his better traits. Maybe Taylor will be the guy to own in Tennessee.

No kidding. It might not matter long term but I want my rookies to be extra motivated to work with my qb. Especially when that qb is one of the really good guys and on his way to elite status.

Mack provides a good test of the line and crab/coop could have big games.

I'm not remotely confident about the Titans chances this weekend. But it should be a really good game.

Marcus will get him.

Davis (or any injured player) isn't allowed to do squat without seeing a trainer both before and after. It could be he didn't know how to pull off an extra workout and follow the rule. It could be that his wife/gf had something planned. Before camp and before week 1, NFL families have goodbye get togethers of sorts because they'll be gone a lot for the next few months. It might not necessarily be "bad work ethic."

He was the only one I can recall that didn't get together with Marcus for his between camp unsupervised practice. It could be him.

No one from the team says bad work ethic stuff about Davis. It could also be he's of the mindset that he gives his all in practice and his free time is his time.

I don't know, but Marcus gets everyone. He'll be doing extra soon enough.

Mularkey complimented Davis on his work to get ready today

I think it's just he doesn't do the extra.

Mularkey said Taylor has practiced more reps than anyone every week since rookie camp AND most snaps in preseason

Didn't say squat other than "it's good for him"

I see him playing almost the whole game.

Yahoo has his projection way wrong.

I can't project them.

It's nearly impossible at this point.

I'll be using Taywan in DFS for a week but for regular FF I only have Rishard.

The Titans are an FF nightmare this year.

Mariota went in the third a couple times and before me in the fourth. I don't like QBs that high but he is the only one I'm confident in for FF. It's much easier to go with that guy that throws to the weapons than have to pick which weapon

Hroniss Grasu is a player I only just learned about. On the Titans site, Marcus called him a godsend for his help overcoming surgery this offseason. He's his former oregon teammate and a backup C for the Bears.

Always good to make a mental note of guys that Marcus adores.

Raider fan here coming over for a visit. Not super pumped about having to start our season against you guys. Our secondary is looking shaky at the moment and I expect Marcus to be quite efficient against us.

How is your guy's D looking this year? I think the best chance we have to win is to try and turn it into a shootout but you guys can definitely ball control the game.

P.S. due to OBJ's injury and Evan's hurricane induced bye week I'm starting Taylor this week for the extra sweat

Good luck!

Both teams secondaries looked weak in preseason. We have better players but they didn't act the part.

Lebeau sends the kitchen sink at passers. If they can pick it up, teams destroy the Titans deep. If they don't, their QB gets sacked. It's been that way for a zillion years wherever he goes. The Raiders are well built to burn us. They put our best outfielder on the PS.

Donald Penn's late return might be bad for Carr though

It's interesting how Conley and Obi were both interests of Titans fans before the draft and neither will play.

Sims is hurt and looking not likely. That's not good news for a team facing two excellent WRs. Adoree is an unpolished gem. It seems awkwardly right to predict he'll give up a big touchdown and have a big interception

Jayon Brown is the fastest LB around and will cover Cook. That's an interesting first matchup for him.

Still weak up the middle, where the Raiders love to run, and where the Titans allow 6 ypc

Smile of the day- People asking if Mariota is OK, if his family is OK due to Hurricane Irma or will he be distracted

No idea where Hawaii is :-)

What a bunch of idiots.

But seriously I hope his family is ok after that big earthquake

So it sounds like it's going to be a dog fight

I think so but since I think both teams can run well, I'm not sure if it'll be high scoring. I totally lean that way though
I know it's a new season and all, but until the Raiders show me they can defend the TE, my money is on Walker to absolutely stomp some ### Sunday. I'm all-in. I'm a lot-in on Mariota too.

This could very well be a big Derrick Henry game
Yeah, reasonably so too. And I don't think it means he is the new back if it is. I think it just means Murray needs to shake off rust and he's most prepared.

I think this was a trap last year for teams. Throw 8 yard passes to the TE while they're throwing 20 yarders to their WRs. But I am hypersensitive now (as the game draws near) to what I consider some poor play calling last year.

"we" don't need to be a run first run often offense. The Titans can be a balanced offense. I don't wanna be having a nice short game and pounding the RB, while the Raiders are airing it out. I'm a little worried of the play calling.

Further, it's been years (decade?) since Mularkey had a team even remotely as talented as this one and ran a balanced offense.

Conversely, the Titans stunk against the TE too. They improved a lot when Rashad was deep and Byard covered the TE. Byard is the only one capable of being the FS outfielder this year. Searcy and Cyprien are notoriously bad at this and were bad in preseason at this. Brown has to cover Cook well and that's a hard test for a rook. We know he can handle athletic TEs for a play here n there, but can he for a whole game?

I'm thoroughly annoyed Woods and Denzel are on the PS. They need them already

FWIW, I'm not convinced Mariota has all that many weapons to throw to. I know I'm largely alone on an island, but the Titan WRs don't impress me much. Decker is good at what he is, but he's not a WR1. I don't think there is a WR1 on the roster. Typically rookie WR do not make big impacts (aside from hugely talented guys). I just see a LOT of balls going Walker's way.

The guy that was all smiles throughout the game said this after.

Delanie Walker said "If there isn't a sense of urgency in you, we don't want you on this team."

Certainly a hmmmm reaction. He won't call anyone out publicly, so that's all we'll get

Kept 11 linebackers, used 7 in the game. Need a whole corp as depth?

Trawick 83% of ST Bates 65% Weems 43%. Is it just me or should they all have 100% since they got paid to be ST studs?

Casey 6 ST snaps WHY!

Jonnu 24 snaps Supernaw 9

3 WR set 76% of the time as per Harmon

Tye Smith only two snaps on D. I mentioned him in the game thread making a couple good plays. Wow covered well on both then

Decker 60 of 64, Matthews 52, Davis 42, Taylor 6

Jayon Brown 37 snaps, 56%. That's one of those "nah" feelings. I swear he was in all game or almost all game

Walden 30 snaps, 45%. Guy did nothing and got a good grade from PFF too. He's on the weakside and he has no effort if the play is ran away from him. I was never allowed "hands on hips" or to jog after a play just in case. He bugs me. 2 tackles, 30 snaps.

Back to the ST guys

There is no total, no one played 100%. There were 9 snaps that Beau Brinkley (LS) was in for. Those would be punts and FGs. Absent from that would be KR, PR, and kickoffs. Maybe those guys should miss the FGs. Hmmm I don't know. It's hard to do the math and decipher those, or maybe I'm just not used to doing so

66 snaps total for D

Williams 14, Klug 15, Johnson 17, Jones 34, Casey 50. That's only 130

3-4, three linemen spots times 66 is 198.

If I can watch again, I'm gonna guess Morgan on the LOS. I did not notice a ton of 1 and 2 DL sets like in preseason. That's odd. Pretty huge difference there

Cyprien out few weeks

Tye Smith broken hand, no designation

Sims will return

Searcy replace Cyprien

No conversations with Jax people yet, just friends. No people in charge of Jags. Mularkey son was evacuated. He has a home there.

Re-Dodd, he doesn't play ST

3 OLBs together is just a different package we have now

Storm is still there so can't make decision on game til after

Tenn now expecting weather. (Hurricane headed there, weakened)

Taywan did some good things in limited reps. Packages. Hard to get everyone time. Maybe that's different this week.  (Now Mularkey has a tone where he's being coy. Did you teach him this cr JRob. I liked "open" Mularkey)

Totally heard his voice change

Raiders tackled better and broke tackles better, stats close, came down to a few plays

There's a fine line in the NFL. Score doesn't show how close of a game it really was.

"I'm not giving the scope on our special teams" Compliments their energy. Each guy not doing their responsibility...individual fine details they gotta work on

Blocked into punter, didn't agree w call. Close to a blocked punt twice yesterday, little things

Mentioned run pass ratio for gameplan Q

Now he said "I didn't think so" when asked if Davis played more than expected. I guess he should listen to himself yesterday

Davis complained of fatigue. Got some work to do getting in shape. Pretty good on assignments.

Ran a 5-6 yard route only 1 yard oops Would have had first. Not an excuse but it's a great thing to teach from.

More issues with Titans than Raiders....shot self in foot

Would have liked to see more runs, couldn't convert third downs

Ooh he stopped short of saying he'd pull players for not converting. Mid-sentence

Jumped up at 27 and came down at 35. Adoree

Will it be a goalline play? Laugh, maybe maybe laugh

Thinks Adoree's flop made official discard late hit

What has Daquan done to get more snaps at NT? He can be disruptive, very good against the run, holds the point, played pretty well.

Like to have him slide outside? No. He did pretty well. (empty sets, 3 4 wide) He will be in there more. He's a good pass rusher. They play a bunch of empty sets. He will be in there more. I guess we've got our new NT

Jonnu couple key blocks, played good

Lewan? Fine. Played pretty darn well

Decker ran a route wrong that was there

We are onto Jacksonville, already had a team meeting and pretty lengthy breakdown of their team. Onto the next one(opponent)

"That position is about as important a position on our football team as there is" Who do you think he said that about? GUess!

FOWLER! He had 3 snaps and didn't play STs for the first time ever

feed cut off midsentence. all he said was excessive celebrations issues around league and he's not concerned

Updated the missed parts

Is this why Byard had a bunch of tackles? Who to own for FF purposes?
It's the junk I've been speaking of.
The plan was to have Byard develop as an outfielder FS. Midway through preseason they realized Byard is still the best SS and possibly a future star so they began using him as a SS like last year. That pushed Cyprien to 2nd string and Searcy to third.

Denzel Johnson was the best outfielder this summer. Jeremy Boykins and Kalan Reed were good n bad as the outfielders, but had their moments.

They entered the season with 3 SS and put Cyp at FS. That is exactly what they looked for when they would pick on him with Jax. It's dopey

It's almost a good thing he got hurt. (You know I'd never, just saying) Now they need to replace the FS.

If not Denzel, Rashad Johnson (last year's starter) took some time off for the birth of a kid and family time. He was in super shape in June and no NFL team picked him up. He is 31,32ish. I know for a fact, the Chiefs are talking to him today to replace Berry.

Daimion Stafford was an odd one to not re-sign. He was player of the week or somesuch one week last year. I'd only call him good, but he was useful as their dime backer too. So SS, FS, and dimebacker. That upset him and there were stories. He was signed by the Steelers and then I read that he didn't report and may retire. I can't find nothing on him today. He is NOT on the Steelers.

If Byard and Woodyard are the on field leaders calling stuff out, Lebeau sends the kitchen sink at the QB, I question whether the outfielder is really that difficult a spot to fill. They need to have blazing speed to get sideline to sideline so that limits it, but I really really wonder if they can't just plug in someone with outfielder experience. The way I understand it, this is the easiest spot in a Lebeau D

Wyatt has amended Mularkey's "fortunately we have depth at the position" sentence to include Curtis Riley.

Oooh idk if he's the answer at FS

They're talking about the possibility of the NFL switching the Jacksonville to Nashville this week over at Titans Report.

I will be pissed if it happens. Got a plan to be at the last 2 games and stay in Nashville for a week.

Flooding in Jax is called 100 year flood. Gotta figure not playing there. Jags said they were returning via their twitter- had stayed an extra night in Houston. I wonder if they actually returned
