Titans 2018 (2 Viewers)

Have you noticed Lewan next to Conklin? They did that this summer. Spain was a college T. Ya know they've lined Lewan up as a TE a few times in his career and they've done that in 2017 too.

I wonder if they don't go at JJ Watt like this- like that's why they've been working on this.

Watt has dominated the Titans but there was a full calendar year that many Titans fans thought Mercilus was a DT. He lined up one the line so often and did so well against us. I wonder if Fowler plays a bunch one more week before resuming his limited role. They could really use him to pickup a LB that sneaks in there.

Watt has never played against Mariota. I wonder if running him a few times helps to slow them down so maybe they don't pin their ears back and just burst ahead.

Fuller could return this week. I don't know who the Titans speed CB is. They haven't really faced a burner. I'm half-afraid of him if he comes back. The Titans have always been suckers for the deep ball

Something like "he was limited" then onto next question. No one asked how he's doing or outlook for sunday
He's listed as full participant, sat out a little bit. I thought if they sit out anything it's limited. Either way very much not concerned here

Getting death threats I read.
If a genuine threat, and not to say anyone should ever get death threats- Of all people, the super generous Walker gets them. Good luck to the shooter when he realizes members of the 101st are in the locker room with the Titans each week. Pretty sure all of his American pride thoughts are going to be confused when he sees them down the sights of his gun, not to mention the Marines on the field before the game either

@Bri do you see any hope of them utilizing Taylor?

I want to pick up this JuJu dude from Pitt and I will drop either Ginn or Taylor. I want to believe in Taylor but the coaches seem to be holding him back playing inferior players.

Mularkey corrected his statement yesterday. Mariota DID go into the game after injury and couldn't step into throw on INT. Got some work on it during halftime and was ready to play

Avery too much hesitation- no word of a change

Spain turf toe, getting wednesday off. Came in today with it, not a concern yesterday

Mularkey taking the blame

Mularkey did notice big efforts but execution was poor. Saw great effort in the 4th Q which caught his eye

Watson rarely had an easy first read, did well anyway. Looked off Byard well

Re-evaluating corners and changes

Mularkey is so new at this coy stuff

One reporter quoted him also saying about MM8 "He's a pretty fast healer"

Any other coach would say, "We have the top-rated FB in football, so we'll play Jalston more to protect Mariota."

Mularkey didn't say that tho

What is rotoworld talking about on their Brandon Weeden signing update?

"the Rotoworld records are shaky before 1960 — it's believed Weeden would become the oldest professional athlete to appear in a game in American history were he to take snaps on Sunday."

He is only 33. If this post by rotoworld was sarcasm I don't get it.

they're failing to be funny

Mularkey looked like a man that just got divorced. I thought he was gonna cry and at the same time frustrated as all H. It occurred to me after that I've watched pressers with him during a two win season and he never looked that bad.

He said he was glad Mariota didn't play when he someone brought up the six sacks....kind of a duh what did you think he'd say response

MM8 leaped for balls in warmups and played something of tag with Lewan. Fans that made the trip were not happy he sat.

Texans lost Watt and Mercilus yesterday. Brian Cushing can come back week 10 or 11. That LB Zach Cunningham that many Titans fans wanted will be playing a big role in Hou.

Williams being put back in for the stoppage with 2:30 left was as dopey as could be. Titans rush D was gassed at the end. They only allowed Ayaji to get 27 yards at the half, he wore them down some.

Still angry that the gameplan wasn't as advertised where they would run early and often. To rely on Cassel's arm is one of the most foolish game plans I could imagine. 4 carries for Henry when he's been filling in great and they needed a pile mover? Maybe worse is when the stat count comes out and everyone sees how many snaps he played and only got 4 carries.

Taylor started in a 2 WR sets. Good for the rook. Decker played more, just some sort of "I started" claim I guess.

With the short pass QB Cassel in, it was such an oversight to not utilize Taylor. If there was a game that his short catch n run ability would have been big, it was that one.

As for Weeden, I listed all the backup QBs here https://sports.yahoo.com/backup-nfl-quarterbacks-053128915.html

Yes, the pickings are slim, but we all knew Cassel stunk. He stunk with the Cowboys when he went 1-6 and stunk with the Titans last year.

I would rather a Thad Lewis Joe Webb type of street style QB. I would rather just about anyone so that I do not know before the game started that the QB is gonna play poorly and cost them the game.

BIGGEST wait a sec? Jacoby Brissett. He's not great. He's fine, but just fine. JRob's old team traded him to the Colts for a WR not living up to the hype and Reiss indicates the Pats were looking for a fourth for him and happy to get Dorsett. With Tajae Sharpe how did the Titans not make this trade? If they didn't want Tajae then why not give the fourth round pick next year?

The Titans are probably going to spend a 3rd or 4th on a backup QB in the next draft. Why not just do it and have the guy now? Also have the guy BB decided to keep and trust his instincts on a QB?

I don't know if they'd have won with Brissett but I knew they'd lose with Cassel. My only hope was Cutler could be worse.

Rookie 4th rounder will have no experience. Brissett has some preseason experienced nitpicked by BB and will be entering his third year next year.

***************

Joe Webb practiced against them. Cam didn't take snaps those days. I think it was Anderson and Webb. When Tanney broke his leg and Webb was cut, why not make that move?

See there were options. Not ideal options, but better than Cassel options

One thing that was classic. After Mularkey's presser, most of the reporters removed their recorders from the podium. Then Matt Cassel came out

Brissett to start versus Titans. They really expected Luck back by then so that's a bad sign for the Colts.

Mularkey's presser was everything obvious. Henry needs to be more involved (4 carries)

Davis coming along, Cyprien out. No timetable on Davis just that he's improving

He did confirm Taywan Taylor played FS on one snap yesterday. How bout them apples?

Did y'all notice the Giants? 4 WRs hurt and Eli getting an MRI on his neck. Oh and their starting RB sat yesterday

This proves what I've been saying for months. PUT DENZEL IN!

If a coach is so worried of the deep pass that he has the DC put a WR in at FS...cmon now

It also lends to his confusing comments of Taylor. He always praises the guy and trusts him to throw him in like that, but where are the offensive reps?

ETA I also wanna know how Lebeau and the secondary coach feel about that too. I hope the reporters catch up to them wednesday

They won't throw Mularkey under the bus. It'll be some yada yada yada we practiced it yada yada

I've heard a wonderful suggestion recently and it's almost so good that JRob ought to explain why he's not on the roster: Keenan Reynolds.

There are articles where he had great moments in camp with the Ravens. He played RB in those predraft "bowl" games.

Navy guy probably has the pedigree of respect and work ethic that the Titans command. A tennessee native. A widely famous Tennessee guy. Scored more TDs than anyone in NCAA history.

Titans have no confidence in Tyler Ferguson- so why isn't Reynolds (at least) their practice squad QB? I'll take a wild guess that he would look better imitating Russel Wilson and Deshaun Watson than Ferguson.

Kordell Stewart, Randel El....Reynolds. That sure fits Mularkey's prior experience.

Darrius Jennings has been praised for playing RB, WR, CB, and S in practice. Wouldn't it be handy to have an offensive guy that can play 3 spots with the scout team?

2 springs ago, Belichick and Reynolds had a long meeting and BB flat out told him they would sign him as a UDFA. How does that not have weight with JRob?

************

Brissett is a good point. Pats wanted a player (Tajae?) or 4th round pick in 2018. Everyone projects the Titans to use a 3rd or 4th on a backup QB. BB influence again here. I'm not saying he's good but for a nobody he's been fine. Fine is better than Cassel and he has future which Cassel doesn't since he's old.

************

No confidence in Ferguson to even really play him in preseason, so where's the corresponding move? Tanney breaks his leg, so where's the reactionary move?

************

Joe Webb rocked in practice against the Titans and did real well against them in preseason. He was cut about the same time Tanney broke his leg. Why not sign the guy your D struggled to stop?

*************

There's a whole "you did nothing" here, by JRob that is puzzling. The biggest issue with Cassel is after going 1-6 with the Boys and stinking in 2016, everyone has no hope when he enters the game. Are the above guys any good? Maybe, maybe not. Fans would have hope though. A loss wouldn't be a foregone conclusion. That's the biggest oversight by JRob, he angered the fans that adore him. Their phenomenal OL suddenly allowed 6 sacks. One could make an argument that they played without hope too or lacked inspiration or drive or somesuch. He seems ignorant of the affects his moves have on the fans or the team. I'm not expecting him to answer all the fans wishes or go to that extreme, but ya gotta give them hope. That's vague enough- he should be able to deliver that. We've had false hope during 2-14 seasons.

The only thing Cassell brings this team is a guaranteed L every time he starts or subs.

What a waste of a roster spot

Such a sign of prior frustration with the previous GMs-

Jurrell Casey, Klug, and Morgan(switched to OLB) will be the first Titans DL to play 100 games

Washburn was so good that they always felt they could "make" another. That's only 4 games past 6 years and many rookies get 4 year deals

Rumor is Titans turned down a 5th for Dodd from Texans and that the Texans put a claim/request for Carraway or Woods. If true, Titans have 24 hours to make a move and guess which PS player they're interested in. Titans denied Dodd trade offer. No comment on Carraway or Woods

Titans practice at night and it's closed to the media. Probably not going to be much news to report for FFers.

JRob didn't confirm this on the radio but didn't deny it. He said "We're gonna see Dodd through here" like he's gonna either bust or do well here, not be traded.

Thanks Bri.

Care to speculate some more about Henry and Jonnu Smith?

Smith does have two TD already in his short career. Walker obviously playing a lot more and getting more opportunities still. Smith is delivering some meaningful plays though.

Titans are expected to make two moves soon.

Weeden to be released but set up in a hotel or somesuch so he's on standby- because MM8 returns. Releasing Weeden before the game would be telling of Mariota starting so maybe not. He does look mobile in ESPN's video though. I don't know but, seems certain Mariota plays the week after. His progress just doesn't "fit" him sitting next Sunday.

Jennings to be released for the PS because Davis will return next week or week after(bye)

Mularkey finally mentioned Taylor at FS. He said Jennings and DJ (Denzel Johnson) weren't available. Jennings inactive and Johnson on PS. So 6 weeks later, it is finally an issue he's starting to admit- that they need a speedy outfielder. Pathetically, no reporter seems to think a FS will be called up (or Jennings stay and play D) because Mularkey is stubborn

Thanks Bri.

I wouldn't start them.

Henry and Jonnu were commonly on plays together during the summer- Smith was always praised for his blocking. Titans reporters act like it's a dumb question to ask if those plays aren't for Murray, but they don't call em'. We rarely see Jonnu in the backfield or wider than Delanie because a screen is coming and he's gonna block. If he does that, Henry is in. I was able to find the plays where Henry lines up as a WR and Jonnu (not Rishard) is opposite him. I'm starting to really think those two are connected.

Delanie ducked at a pass last week. He has been in an awesome mood all year. His interview was cheery but he was hyper-critical of missing that catch. The Colts have had a lot of turnover in the secondary but I don't know that they can cover him. They're 6th worst against the TE. If Mariota returns, he's gonna probably throw to Matthews and Walker early to get comfy. If they worked on anything with Cassel, it would be "use Delanie as your panic move. That's how we do things here."

Sean Spence was terrible (as Titans fans predicted) and cut. Things are so bad though that some Colts fans are almost saying they should bring him back https://www.fanragsports.com/why-have-colts-lbs-been-floundering-in-coverage/

It really looks favorable for Delanie.

Could Jonnu get some passes if the Colts adjust and smother Delanie? Probably but I wouldn't start him in FF for that.

*******************

Conklin isn't dominating this year. He's doing fine. Some are saying he's struggling but statistically he totally is not. One could argue though that Supernaw needs to play more

As far as I can tell Walker is doing fine. I do not expect Smith to push him for playing time at all. Just curious about Jonnu's progress and I did note that he has scored twice already which is a good sign as far as his development.

Looking at Smiths snap counts I do see that his playing time has increased over each week.

Wk 1 35.9%

Wk 2 54.4%

Wk 3 65.8%

Wk 4 53.7%

Wk 5 61%

He is playing a bit more than I expected actually without looking it up.

Walker of course still playing more and getting a lot more targets.

I saw that you posted in the Henry thread so I will just read your comments about him there.

Few things are more entertaining than **** Lebeau being asked Qs by an inexperienced reporter

DC **** LeBeau, asked how Monday night football has changed the game of football, replied: “They play on Monday instead of Sunday.”

Sylvester Williams inactive, 7 mil well spent
D was better. If only Mularkey listened to me....:-) But seriously, that they played better is a big big deal. "Everyone else" at NT was able to do their job and Avery had a very good game. His job is so difficult when he has to shed linemen constantly, most NFL ILBs get a lineman a handful of times a game, not him.
