He's been weird with the TE all year.
In preseason it came up over n over how Cincy didn't use one but Jax(OC) did.
Games would open with Whyle getting 1-2 passes on the opening drive. Other than that it was usually "oh he threw to the TE" small surprise like Cincy.
The last few weeks, Callahan seems to love sending the WRs deep and Chig open underneath. Other times the D is in prevent and the QB just takes the gimme pass to Chig.
He still can't block inline but he is better and better blocking on the run FB style. He's made a few nice blocks the last few weeks.
Rookie DMR seems to be the only one that can both block and catch well.
Since Jonnu left, they've also had new yuck RTs. Everyone's eyes are there at some point and maybe more than any other TE in the NFL- we see him not doing much as a blocker.
Whyle looks quite capable and then whiffs and idk about his blocking.
Odukoya is a tremendous blocker and I even wonder if the best in the NFL but there's some hangup for the international player because he never gets in and it's been years. I have an irrational love for his pancake blocks after watching the RT and TE struggle. Why can't he be in on first down and take it from there?
Anywho...it's a real shame to see his stats and still not think he's finally arrived. I don't think he had a single catch til the game was out of hand
