Titans IDPs (4 Viewers)

Game stuff-
Chance was outstanding. Ourlads has him like 5th or 6th ILB so he's certainly going to be in a position to move up and possibly make the team. He's probably at least a lock for last LB spot now.

The main guys didn't play so starters is a loose term.
The DL and LBs were largely uninteresting but the depth guys all fought and each caught my eye at different times. 3rd 4th quarter of preseason is way down the depth chart but I often felt like woah they've got some tough boys.
Simmons and I assume Sweat are phenomenal. I've really questioned the depth a lot. I think there just might be a few no names that pop up.

DC Dennard Wilson is so well regarded for pressure and sacks and inventing ways to get someone after the QB. I thought one sack was pathetic and pffff. I really like him and now want to make some wild prediction like a dozen sacks for the next preseason game.

Joint practice with Seahawks

McCreary made some notable stops in drills and scrimmage but DK and JSN lit up the Titans backup CBs.

Both DLs dominated and each struggled to run against them. Keondre Coburn is a DL often mentioned as one of the other guys in TEN.

Adams practiced very little. Maybe he was to sit and begged since former team. Everyone noted he talked curse all practice long.

Diggs was on the field a lot and with the days the WRs has, I'm figuring he wasn't enough help for the CBs.

Hawks CBs didn't do well in drills except Woolen who held Ridley catchless

Any LB updates? Really wondering about Cedric Gray for this year
Otis Reese and Gibbens started- of sorts
Murray sat. Reese made a TFL and big hit.

Campbell on with second group and had an INT.
I don't see any Gray notes.

McKlendon had a sack
****
Marlon Davidson biceps injury
Coburn left sore
McCreary battling well. Allowed some, had PBUs
Brownlee got singled out by Metcalf and Diggs(new) as impressive first time they've seen him stuff. Definitely feel good about him as first sub at CB.
Big Jeff lifted and threw a Seahawks lineman.
Sweat dominated two snaps day one and the Hawks struggled to double Big Jeff and Sweat ever since which is how everyone predicts the season playing out. Sweat still was disruptive and that's a great sign.

I still am wondering where the safeties are if (regardless of offense) they continue to complete many deep passes

How is Harrell looking?
Barely a mention after doing so great. He needs to step up
And almost on cue- two sacks in the game is exactly that.

I think he's probably a special player. Surely plenty of rough edges as every rookie but ya can't just brush past that when he's hot he has multiple big plays whether it be a sack or INT or blowing up someone. Normal players do normal things.

Edited- there's plenty of videos on X today.
Come from the right, from the left, couple sacks +FF, couple pressures, see the tackle pushed wayyy back.

His post game interview is very matter of fact, very humble, keeps mentioning learning....exactly what ya want to hear. You can't tell he had a great game.

Looks like he is worth hanging onto. I have him on the bubble in nearly every IDP league.

Mostly facing a choice between keeping him or Kneeland.

I think so.
I can remember rookie Shariff Finch having a heckuva preseason.
It's like any position in FF. For me, I've got some stats some way a guy looks that I (pretend to) believe means he'll be good or not

See this
I don't think James Williams has a prayer here but he has made plays often. The Titans have way too much depth at ILB. As I've said in other years when a position was oddly deep, I'd cut some to enhance the competition because how much time are 8? 10? guys really giving you to evaluate?
All we know is he does well against other teams fourth string.
Williams could very well be cut and do well for another team and the Titans will be fools.

"I'm not surprised," Callahan said of Harrell's success. "He played in a similar style defense and he's been coached. He came from a blue blood program. Those guys tend to show up. They play in big games. They played in winning programs. They know what it takes. So, we've seen all that. He played a physical brand of football in college, and it turns out he plays a physical brand of football here. He's been really, really good in the run. I think he's developing as a rusher. He's shown up, he's got production on the quarterback, but he's learning how to rush the NFL way, which I think he's going to improve rapidly in that way too.

"But he's risen as a seventh-round pick that nobody thought much of to being probably a pretty strong rotational player for us. It's been good to see."

DC Wilson doesn't seem to be very impressed with Key and Landry and Weaver. When he was asked about the edge he was yeah maybe them but it might be Harrell or a DB like Adams on the edge.
Here's him on Harrell

Both starting CBs will be available week one as expected.
Gray...I think he sounds like an IR candidate. They don't do PUP in season anymore right? I think he's a short term see how it goes candidate for IR.
They really like their ILBs and have unusual depth. Chance has been bragged on a bunch, Williams recently. Otis had a bad spring but then a very good camp. Maybe he could steal a S spot but then numbers there aren't good to do that.
Here he's talking Gray and I agree Bush has done a fantastic job coaching since suddenly they have all this depth.

Harrell back with the ones today (note how close to week one we're getting) had a would be sack and a TFL splitting reps on each side.

New member who has been reading for a while now. This thread has caught my attention a lot for my IDP leagues, so thanks to all of you and the dedication you show in keeping it alive and updated. I’m a fan of Gray and have him stashed on couple of taxi squads, but I’m seriously intrigued by Harrell now. Going to grab at least one share

Key tweaked a hamstring and will be questionable for week one but they're hopeful.
Harrell came in and got past Latham for a sack right away.

The focus has shifted towards "who makes it" in discussions and coach questions even if they are thinly veiled questions.
Harrell and James Williams came up a few times today.
Coach talked Harrell and Weaver and said Weaver has been very strong against the run, Harrell has been very good with both but clearly better on passing downs. How will they rotate them with Key and Landry? IIRC he got the same Q on the radio. Idk why 3-4 year player Weaver is being framed in the question when clearly we all want to know Harrell. Answer was usual coach speak type.

Coach said something like the sky is the limit for James Williams. He went on about the switch from S to LB and how he gets better every week. He said he believes all the other players know the sky is the limit with these two.

Sooo whose cut at ILB?

Unlike Vrabel days- there isn't a love for a one dimensional UDFA edge that'll crash n burn in-season. That's a little interesting. I'm not sure any individual is safe but they'll have to keep some for depth.

I expect the Titans to be weird on cut down day and maybe be a bit lean or a bit too many at some positions and then a day later even out so definitely don't think too strongly of the day one roster.

Campbell has a knee, no details and Molden also got hurt.
Anyone dinged up last week of preseason that had any sort of roster question usually goes on IR to save spots for the 53

What is Sneed's outlook IDP wise? I am not familiar with the Titans defensive philosophy. Is Sneed going to be up in run support and have potential for good tackle numbers? He is listed as CB1 on the FBG site but not sure if that is warranted. Any insight @Bri ?

It's Dennard Wilson bringing his D over. You've seen it, just transplanted.
He tries to manufacture sacks and needs the top CBs to often be on an island so he can send someone.
The Titans have a loaded secondary all of a sudden and questionable LB corps. Teams will run and throw to the TE since a soft middle but they think they've got that handled and...there's a chance they're a real good D this year
Idk re tackle numbers sorry

So this is usually when the hype ends but it hasn't for Harrell. There's talk of him starting and talk of him subbing an awful lot. That probably means he's the real deal and not preseason splash. Again we never know, but he keeps checking every box put forth.

A decent amount of people have Murphy over Weaver for the 53. Idk about that but I think that talk translates to the Titans making a move for Edge if they can and after- maybe Weaver/Murphy is at risk.

Coburn didn't have a stellar week of practice or week three preseason game. I never know how to judge the guys that do well as surprises and then flop at the end. I usually slot them as backups then and figure they couldn't hack it without more starting time. Some have him being cut and that would be absurd given how much he practiced and played with the ones.

Harrell is the one I’m holding my cards close over, he’s got no buzz within my IDP league and I’m hoping he stays that way for now.
Any news on the safety positions please Bri. Adams in particular?

Quandre and Hooker starting
Adams is to be a sub, a type of pawn for the DC.
Most people said something like "yeah they did that when he was in Seattle, fine backer, blitz, whatever the DC sees."
I take it as a part time role but if you'll allow me a real world example the guys getting nearly 40 hours per week anyway.

His backups have been Otis Reese (converted S at LB) and Elijah Molden (an athlete first that happens to play S and CB)

Matthew Jackson had a great off-season and kind of lost his fizzle at the end. He was good for a notable PBU or INT every day and then pffff. He's more of traditional safety. Two of the three above probably make it

Great trade for Ernest Jones
So is it Speights or Rozeboom in LA and how big of a hit does Murray take?
You would think Boom with experience. I know Omar had nice camp

Only quote found
Jones has no obvious replacement at middle linebacker for the Rams. Veterans Troy Reeder — an improbable starter on the Rams' Super Bowl-winning team — and Christian Rozeboom could both step up, while undrafted free agent Omar Speights also made the roster in training camp.

For Titans, Gibbens value probably took a huge hit.
I expect they don't change how curious they are of Williams in a limited role and if he can become special

Radio has said a UDFA beat him out. Not claiming to follow Rams well but I've heard it a number of times today
I heard that too which is why he became expendable. But I was wondering for IDP purposes if it was a simple as plugging in Speights to Jones' projections or if Rozeboom was set to take more of the pie.

Speights is a UDFA, and maybe he goes all Ivan Pace, but just making the team is probably the goal.

I had to make the call, and went Rozeboom in one league. Speights was already picked up.

Speights getting the starting job will be fan blog speculation. Mystery Box!!!!

My guess is they keep Rozeboom where he is and Hummel gets a promotion. Hummel is the best coverage LB the Rams have after Jones.

I can also see Speights taking over for Rozeboom later in the season. A combo of Hummel (green dot) and Speights may be the best combo they have now.

Jeff McClane was first but the rumor of CB turned " S James Bradberry could be traded to the Titans" seems to have some legs.
He was expected to be cut but then kept so...maybe.
If with Titans he'd be a backup CB that used to play for their defensive staff

Titans only kept four CBs (and BTW four DL) so that might lend to this too

Depth Charts (if you believe them) have Speights and Rozeboom as starters

Un-official Rams Depth chart does have Hummel behind Jones and Speights behind him. Other charts have it the other way around. I actually like Speights and was hoping he would make the team. He could very well start. I have heard his coverage skills were average at best though. According to PFF,
Speights and Hummel both graded over 90 for the preseason. Thinking Hummel gets the chance over him because of his coverage ability. Who knows, maybe they throw Reeder in there instead. I am hoping for Speights or Hummel to take over.

Tough to imagine Speights starts from the opening gun, but my assumption is his ascent shoved Ernest out. Hummel probably gets first shot, but it's with a sprinkling of the udfa and hopes he eventually takes the job.

I agree with this but It looks like Reeder is going to start next to Rozeboom. McVay press conference not long ago he named his two starters about midway through it. Reeder and Rozeboom. He did not mention who will be wearing the green dot. When asked, he said they are still evaluating the situation.

Titans expected to meet with Rock Ya Sin not confirmed. Idk what that means exactly.

Tyus Bowser to visit Cowboys then Titans.

The defense is really coming along.

Titans claimed DE Ali Gaye and CB Julius Wood. Wood was listed as a safety. Titans listed him as a CB
Molden traded to Chargers
Now Wood is listed as a safety
