Titans IDPs (4 Viewers)

Jim Wyatt thinks they'll be patient with Winston and that he gave them a good scare. He was surprised he wasn't on IR DTR like Spears.

He brought up conditioning and Sweat being ready for Denver's altitude.

He said the staff has been complimentary all off-season of the effort Jaylen Harrell made. He may have been a bubble guy but not to him. He thought he earned that.
Now could he be cut? Sure but that was a message to the team on work ethic and coaching and they're proud of him.

Shy Tuttle will be signed tomorrow and someone released

Schefter tweeted it out. Interesting that Rosenhaus can have the Titans on speed dial for a few weeks about his clients.

The DL has a 42 grade on PFF. I don't know him but that's underwhelming and it was so quick after his release. Why did he make them leap?

Per TD
Here are the four #Titans waiver wire claims:

CB Jalyn Armour-Davis (Ravens)
LB Dorian Mausi (Vikings)
DE CJ Ravenell (Ravens)
CB Samuel Womack (Colts)

All defense

Titans 7 IDL is odd- something coming probably
7 CBs, maybe a Snead to IR update coming? I just have no confidence, no word on Snead in week

Otis Reese tried out with Steelers, Colts and 49ers and then signed with CFL.

Still wondering a story there.
He didn't even give the teams much time to sign him

Fluffy everything is wonderful presser today that left many not believing truth was given.

One of those, that Snead is playing week one

So who won the camp battle, Gray or Williams?

Or will they have 1 of them on early downs, and the other in on passing downs?

They just signed Kyzir White apparently. May not matter who won the battle between Gray and Williams. Its getting cloudier.

It would have made more sense had he gone somewhere that needed the help. They have two promising young LB's that can both start. Maybe he is just depth? Who knows.

That doesn't make a lot of sense. Very strange.

It would make much more sense for him to go back to Arizona. I think one of his former teammates was basically pleading with him on Twitter to do so. They've got Simon, Davis-Gaither, and Pappoe as their weak side linebacker and apparently none are doing that good of a job.

He's a backup.
I think PS
He hasn't been practicing and needs to get in football shape
Dorian Mausi is Barton's backup

Gray won the starting spot off two weeks of stellar play.
Surprising
Would you happen to know if his spot is a 3 down spot? Or is that Barton's role? Assuming they only keep 1 LB on the field for passing downs? Or do they keep 2 LBs? And would Gray be one of them?

Callahan said a few minutes ago they'll both play a lot.
I would guess Williams is definitely in on third down since he's a former safety. Idk between Barton and Gray.

He also said when Kyzir is up to speed and in shape, he will mix in.
(The team seems to have NOT made many decisions and WR and TE are about the same "everyone is playing")

Ugh. Sounds like a LBBC. :sadbanana:

Hooker got extended 3 for 42 but only 29 guaranteed and some applied to this season

So the new GM did finally extend someone but it's also a tradeable contract too

I didn't like the ILB play.
Barton was pushed aside when it mattered and they ran right at him for the biggest play of the day.
A lot of times they each ran out wide like they're funneling in but aren't they supposed to be at the opening of the funnel?

They hit gaps and....do something! Why did they stop?
The three safeties seemed like ILB that started deep and crept up.
It was a weird weird plan by Wilson.

The defense looked great and got a lot of love nationally.
Brownlee got a few penalties called on him and one was legit.
The secondary was excellent. They were all smothering and Nix had to make a few great throws to even get them moving.

Sweat and Simmons were problems. Sweat got hurt and the Beoncos ran right where he would have been. Big Jeff regularly got in the backfield.
Femi wasn't much. He had a nice rush and went unblocked on another but otherwise he was just good at holding the edge. It was interesting to see him next to the others and all. He really has freak qualities. He's so raw. The former ILB really needs to be a backup that rotates often and is coached every other play. It's madness. He needs technique and it's like we're watching an athlete wing it.

There was a 50 yard run and a couple drives where they'd stop the Broncos but oh here's a penalty type gifts.

Brownlee and McCreary both had good weeks fantasy wise. Which is a better pickup in dynasty.
Brownlee is the real deal.
Love watching him. He's so close smothering he gets ticky tack penalties that idk if you can coach out of him with his style but when he is real good.
I think 400ish yards allowed for the year last year.
He irritated Nix and Sutton plenty. He flashed in and got a big TFL stop when they needed too.

McCreary is a free agent in 2026 that they haven't offered a contract too. They like Harris and Denard seems to like their waiver pickup he used to coach with the Ravens.

For IDP though now that I think of it, they might start throwing away from Brownlee later this year or next. That'll impact his value.

Callahan said some ambiguous things today. I think he plans to play Williams far more next week.

The gist of it was he apologized to some players for not using them and in a way that he discussed all off-season. Reporters will definitely jump on this topic so there should be some clarity soon

Everyone seems positive on Femi
Held the edge well, able to show a couple moves but definitely needs to ramp up the pass rush.

Sweat is out
Winston probably is, we'll see
Diggs came off injury report

Forgot to say Snead is expected to play more snaps.

Replacing Sweat is probably a group effort. They've got some rock solid journeymen backups but they're not a human wall. His loss will be felt.

I can't believe I didn't even notice or hear about it on the radio but apparently Snead didn't play the second half.

#Titans L’Jarius Sneed played on 19 of the Titans’ 71 defensive snaps (26.8%) in Week 1, all of which came in the first half.
He was targeted 4 times and allowed 2 receptions for 17 yards as the nearest defender in coverage. H/T
@NextGenStats

#Titans CB Jarvis Brownlee has played 128 snaps and only allowed 3 of 4 targets for 61 yards.

Yes that's a 156 rating and 20+ ypt but if you "go there" you're missing that the league (Stafford and Nix?) now clearly considers him elite and is avoiding him.

The older I get, the less inclined I am to post Wednesday injury "news" that my gut says doesn't matter or is false or...some of you longtime FF guys probably think identical to me.

I used to get really into it but Friday is the big day.
I'm gonna try to use a grain of salt this year on Wednesday

The IDP radio talk and bits in articles pertain to-
A lot of us are noticing the ILBs not doing well on plays that everyone else is.
In general they're not reliable and that's a mandatory reliable position.
I am curious if James Williams and Kyzir White.

DC did NOT give quotes indicating this.

Some on X are saying Hooker is playing ILB on a handful of snaps but film guys are saying no it's a three safety look. One of my fave callers replied with "I don't care if it's peanut butter n jelly or jelly n peanut butter. He's in there spot😊."

I think this lends towards a change too. A sign the staff lacks total confidence in them.

Barton has been a lot like Ridley in that he's a camp star that fades in the regular season. If he keeps missing tackles, he's going to look out of place as a leader in D.

If one old safety isn't having a good game then the other is. As Winston heals up, I keep thinking they're fine at safety he CAN be sprinkled in. Why treat it like he has to come back and play every snap?

Femi is still holding the edge pretty well. Still looks like a big boy freak. Teams go right at him and he can get the RT and TE on pass downs. He's done next to nothing on passing downs but he's getting used to it. He's getting past his OL late. He may be starting to win. They need pressure badly from the edges and I'd rather he played a little less til it all clicks.

Adams was 2 of 6 on a drive Snead covered him. I dont care. It's been talked about how teams are targeting Snead and he hasn't done well. My head doesn't give him that bad PFF grade until late when he looked gassed. Davante is gonna win some. I don't have an issue with a CB holding him to 2 of 6. I'm more inclined to think where's the help.

Yep! My wife asked me who to start on team d this week. I asked if Buffalo was available. She said no. Then I responded that's a great question for Saturday morning.

Brownlee tweaked his ankle Thursday and is questionable leaning towards our. Jalyn Armour Davis is interviewed as how it feels being bumped up.
Sweat is out. Callahan said how he missed too much time in summer and needs to (as a start) log a full practice before discussing him playing again.
Winston is doubtful
Snead who sat this week with a back injury due to inadvertent knee from Simmons is questionable but he says he's playing. He only played the first half week one and looked gassed in second half so...kind of annoyed no one asked him "how much"

Baker, McCreary, and Snead should be starters at CB.

Harris will be active and was mentioned as the replacement at gunner if Oliver (who didn't practice) doesn't play.
I do not know if "depth rookie they like" gets more work than "waiver CB the DC likes"

Maybe next week on Winston, I'm really antsy to watch him

@glennonsports
#Titans inactives:
CB Jarvis Brownlee
LB James Williams Sr.
RT JC Latham
RG Kevin Zeitler
WR Bryce Oliver
S Kevin Winston
CB Samuel Womack III

So Williams is benched after last week's 2-3 ST penalties 🙃
Kyzir White was elevated

I would expect Jalyn Armour-Davis to possibly leapfrog Darrell Baker and get the start today at cornerback.

Tuesday pressers don't happen yet Titans are having one today. 👀
QB coach is going to be calling plays....then when Denard got up there he called the defense out for bad tackling and that their play was unacceptable last week.

It was a total collapse for a unit that's been good for a long time even when the offense stunk. They did have a lot of injuries to overcome but he's clearly not having it.

Of course my head goes to James Williams subbing in as a change.

The former Ravens CB was pulled for poor play last week so I wonder if he's even on the team by Friday.

He specifically mentioned safeties missed tackles but idk that he can make any changes. Maybe play Mike Brown. Amani isn't sitting and the old guys seem on a good rotation and he can't make em younger.

Oh the HC is getting more involved

Dennard Wilson said Brian Callahan was in the defensive meeting this morning and will be a great voice to have in the room going forward. Wilson said he loves having Callahan around and enjoys talking football with him.

is it ok to drop Williams now. He was inactive last week. I can't seem him having any meaningful FF IDP impact anytime in the near future. He is also my LB8

Brownlee has been playing great so the Titans traded him to the Jets for a late round pick swap 🙃

J-E-T-S

Jets Jets Jets!

Welcome, Mr. Brownlee. The Jets quickly realized that Stephens was a disaster as a CB2 playing wide. Oof.

Agreed. We know almost immediately if a player may have a serious injury. Monday injury news is the serious stuff. Wednesday injury news can just get the blanket label of Veteran Day Off, even if it's a young player.

Wow... that's really strange. Young, playing good ball and under contract for a while and you don't even get the original round the guy was drafted? Does he kick puppies all weekend long?

There's a lot coming out as strife between the defense and offense and Callahan deciding to "get involved" so...idk much facts really yet.

The Sweat to IR stuff was unreal
James Williams inactive for poor prior tackling when he didn't take a snap on defense and was complimented for his special teams play

Idk...starting to seem like taking the ship down with him

You are the only source I go to for Titans info. I don't get to watch many of their games but had heard Brownlee was doing well and was a promising young piece. When I saw that he was traded I was confused. For a lowly pick swap? Doesn't add up. The stats I saw said he's a middling corner, with a 60% coverage grade...which does seem middling. He's been scoring well so I assume he's being picked on for his middling coverage "skills". Hopefully he'll continue to score well in NY across from Sauce.

Today was called a walk thru on the injury report. (This is team portion if ya didn't know)

There was a drill today that a big deal was made of. Ball carrier is coming, where should you be and how should your body position be?
Some players absolutely bombed

The whole team tackled poorly so I consider me all guilty.
I'm curious if bombing today hurt anyone's playing time or just a teachable moment.

The mood is exceptionally tense and .... remember I have been saying I love DC Denard? I'm trying real hard to stay unbiased but Callahan keeps hammering the defense.

On the other side- I don't mind the process. You're pros, do it the right way. Show pride in your craft and work hard in practice. Maybe he sees that he can make an impact on defense?

He's exceptional. He's my favorite NFL CB period. I wish game pass had focus on just one person. I'd totally watch him. The way the rules came, the primadonnas, idk it just came to be that I love an in your face CB I guess.

The locker room was absolutely crushed today and the Jets are elated. It was robbery. There's a slew of videos on social media of players that can't believe it. The fans are very angry.

It's an identical trade to Kenneth Murray. 7th and starter for a sixth. Callahan mentioned it was good value and that was throwing gas on a fire.

I mentioned on a call in and the radio has been rolling with it on many shows: the whole summer they spoke of talent they'd acquire on the WW with priority the first three weeks. Well times up, what do they have?

This new GM doesn't look good in season. He was said to be good with the draft and he was but what's going on? A lot of teams have even claimed guys off PS and not us.

Houston is a good team. Tough to get healthy going there.

Not much news

The loss of one of their captains and a shut down corner- Brownlee- was enormous and they looked terrible. He's not Deion or Revis but the team played as if one of them was elsewhere. I'm hoping it's a morale thing and next game they're fine.

Armour Davis is a chump. Harris has to play. Has to! I don't like all his talking and smiling and waving hands after allowing a pass. He's a chump or a punk in my day. Do something worth celebrating.

Key needs to have someone in his ear about this too. Little too happy for one good play when you're down 5000 points.

Gray had 17 tackles but making them 4+ yards past the LOS is not good. Barton continues to make a nice play and a boneheaded play each week. Every fan is about sick of wondering where the heck James Williams is.

Big Jeff rocked and has glowing quotes about him but who else?

Funny video of a blown OL adjustment coverage audible in which four linemen blocked Lynch as Simmons ran right past his man. Oops.

Callahan being involved with the defense has been like throwing a grenade in that room. It doesn't even feel like Denard's defense. The CBs aren't slapping pushing smacking hands at the LOS (probably Cally about penalties) and they all stunk. Ya can't add a bunch of dawgs and expect them to be choir boys.

Quandre has been too vital. He made 4? huge plays on deep routes or screens when they would have definitely been off to the races if he didn't.

They looked awful.
