Relax, guys. Our boy is not going to let us down in our hour of need: http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/10311/tj-yeldon
Same folks who thought it was a good idea to kick a FG because they didn't have enough confidence they could gain six inches.Futz said:First Gerhart attempts to vulture and now they let Denard freakin Robinson (a former college QB) take 5 carries inside the 12 including 3 in a row inside the 5 which lead to a FG.
This coaching staff has no clue.
I'm an owner and don't disagree with this but as long as he doesn't get hurt or forget how to block he should be the starter for most of his rookie contact. Not going to light the world on fire but should be a decent rb2. Took him over Gordon in the draft and feel ok about it but Gordon does seem to flash a little more. Wouldn't shock me if Gordon ends up as the better back by year 3.Yeldon is nothing special. JAG. His success will depend entirely on volume. Lots of folks have said that in this thread going all the way back to the draft. Nothing has changed.
I think he's been the victim of a poor run-blocking unit, a horrible defense that leads to negative game scripts, and a lack of opportunities near the goal line more than a lack of talent.Alex P Keaton said:Yeldon is nothing special. I don't think he an elite RB by any means, but he looks like a good starting RB to me. I agree that his performance this year is greatly impacted by the poor supporting caste and usage. The Jags have great skill players to build around but they desperately need help on the oline.I think he's been the victim of a poor run-blocking unit, a horrible defense that leads to negative game scripts, and a lack of opportunities near the goal line more than a lack of talent.Alex P Keaton said:Yeldon is nothing special. Put him on KCC or DAL and you don't think he could equal or better what CWest and McF have done?
Young and clear 3 down lead back on an offense that is showing huge improvement this year. Potential franchise QB and strong WR/TE corps.FBGs has him ranked as the #4 dynasty RB. I don't see it.
makes a lot more sense than gordon at #3. gordon has a lot to prove before i'd think about taking him with a first/early 2nd round startup pick.Young and clear 3 down lead back on an offense that is showing huge improvement this year. Considering the lack of those in the league, having him at #4 makes sense.
Wow. I wouldn't debate that for more than a half second.xenith said:I'm in a 1 player keeper league, a "Franchise Player" if you will. Any rankings that have Nuk behind Moncrief can't be taken seriously.Where do you see this?FBGs has him ranked as the #4 dynasty RB. I don't see it.

Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times Union expects T.J. Yeldon to serve as the Jaguars' primary third-down back.
O'Halloran envisions Yeldon and Chris Ivory sharing the backfield, with Yeldon hogging passing-game work and Ivory finishing with "more carries on first and second downs." That doesn't mean Yeldon will be eliminated from early-down work, of course. Although Ivory struggled in short-yardage situations with the Jets last season, he is going to bring a power element to Jacksonville's backfield and will be the favorite for scoring-position touches. Yeldon has more value in PPR leagues. It could be a tossup in more touchdown-heavy formats.

For a while anyway. I would expect Yeldon to be the Alpha in this timeshare. Just read an opinion that he will be locked in as the 3rd down back as well. His value is dinged by Ivory but I don't think it should be.
they gave Ivory a pretty decent chunk of change. even if you thing jags overpaid, they're going to use him. also speaks to how jags view yeldon. to me, yeldon's dynasty outlook took a pretty big hit.For a while anyway. I think their running game really suffered when Yeldon was out and they were determined to avoid that again. They also had a good chunk of cap space to work with and needed to make some moves. I think Yeldon will see plenty of work and historically Ivory has not been the most healthy of backs.they basically gave up on him being a featured rb after only 1 year.
They will use him. I'm betting that Yeldon is better than Ivory in most facets of the game before too long. I don't think this is going to be as much of a time share as many are anticipating.they gave Ivory a pretty decent chunk of change. even if you thing jags overpaid, they're going to use him. also speaks to how jags view yeldon. to me, yeldon's dynasty outlook took a pretty big hit.
He's only ranking sophomore RB's so I think they are fine. Others may have them ranked differently but these are not out of line anywhere.I understand why you quit ff.. Those are some pie in the sky rankings.
No. How do you figure? He got hurt and the realized the depth behind him was insufficient.they basically gave up on him being a featured rb after only 1 year.
The Florida Times Union expects the Jaguars to start Chris Ivory over T.J. Yeldon.
They're certainly paying Ivory like a starter, signing him to a five-year deal worth $32.5 million. Based on OTA reps, beat writer Ryan O'Halloran believes Yeldon is "ear-marked for a regular third-down/fill-in early down role" with "Ivory as the initial starter." The Jags refused to give Yeldon the ball in scoring position last season and may envision him as more of a finesse back. Power runner Ivory is the heavy favorite for goal-line work.

T.J. Yeldon rushed four times for 26 yards in the Jaguars' preseason opener against the Jets.
He also caught his lone target for eight yards. Yeldon got the start on Thursday night, but Chris Ivory was quickly in the game and handled all of the goal-line work. Ivory cashed in with a one-yard touchdown plunge. The red zone is where Yeldon struggled as a rookie. These two figure to form a timeshare as long as they're both healthy. Yeldon doesn't have much TD upside.
Aug 11 - 11:00 PM
T.J. Yeldon rushed twice for 15 yards and added a 14-yard score through the air Saturday night against the Bucs.
Yeldon started for the second week in a row, but he rotated fairly evenly with Chris Ivory. It is promising Yeldon saw the red-zone target, but his scoring opportunities will likely be limited while Ivory is healthy. Yeldon is no better than a FLEX option in PPR formats.
Ivory is a brittle 28. I really doubt he's around for 4 years. And fwiw, I'm a fan of Ivory as a runner.3 weeks in everyone, obviously not much of an option unless Ivory isn't playing, and even then his Y-P-C is B-A-D (granted behind a terrible O-line). His only value comes in PPRs. And it's tough to be optimistic with another 4 years of Ivory. Even still, he's only 22.
Specifically in dynasty formats, how does everyone feel about him long term? I'm torn between opportunity/skill and age.
I agree with you but get the feeling that the jags will seek out players to replace yeldon and he will never be entrenched in as the guy. I think he could be the guy but they obviously see something they aren't in love with.FF Ninja said:Ivory is a brittle 28. I really doubt he's around for 4 years.
