Did it look like Pickens could have given a better effort on that deep ball and had a shot at bringing it in?
not really. If anything the effort would have clued the defender in that he had an easy pick if he turns and looks. Ball landed on the other side of said defender from Pickens
I like that interpretation.

Still feels like, considering the circumstances he should have made the effort and played DB if necessary.

IMO I think he simply didn't track the ball well.

It sure as hell did.
again...look where the ball landed and where the defenders were. If Pickens goes for that ball, defender likely catches it.
I agree, Pickens was bracketed.

OMG what an adjustment. Oooo maybe not.
I agree but, consider the circumstances down 14 with 2 minutes left. Try to make the play and turn DB if necessary seems like a viable option.

Disagree. If Pickens went for it he either would have gotten hands on it or, more likely, gotten a DPI. He was looking at the ball and the DBs were not.

Yeah, coulda drawn the DPI. It did look like he kinda quit on it at the end. You’d like to see him play to the whistle, which was a constant complaint about him in PIT IIRC.

No garbage TDs for me when I have the guy and need a late TD that won't matter nope just throws an INT to lose 2 more pts :kicksrock:
Can't wait to watch Mahomes blow up on my bench vs #1 pass D in primetime

Dak charged with 2 INT and neither were on him.....
Yeah, poor Dak, he had a stat go against him, like all QBs. What IS on him is 10 years of AVG.

Dude still didn't know enough to not take a sack late, btw. Didn't simply throw the ball away. Dumb. And yeah, not once but twice, on plays that were easy to recognize as much (he was already on the run).

That is not close to a $60 million a year QB. It's wonderful.

So @Grahamburn what is the actual case for no kickers or D? If its because they are swingy then I think that's a weak argument.
I don’t think there’s any strategy to it. There’s already significant luck in fantasy. Rostering and starting a kicker and defense just adds to that variability.

Most players who are any good at this wait until the last two picks of their draft (or don’t draft either at all) and then just stream them all year.

Sherm ripping Pickens on the post-game for lazy routes... lack of interest... etc.

Herbie was all over Pickens last night too, and rightly so.

Pickens has a lot of talent but too many plays off, lazy routes, and looks like he does not care half the time. Looks like a losing type of player.
It's pretty much why the Steelers let him go even though they could still use him badly. He is amazing receiver when he's all in

It's continuing this morning on Get Up! They did an entire segment on it.

Last night's game tape will probably cost him some off-season leverage unless he plays hard ROS.

Agree, but why is he not "all in" all the time? Especially last night. That game was the biggest game of the year for the Cowboys and his effort was substandard. Then you have St Brown out there who was on crutches Monday busting it all over the field, running hard routes, blocking anyone in sight.

There were a couple of times Dak looked like "come on" to Pickens.

That one go route and stop Pickens never ran hard and then just stopped and turned never had a chance. Herbie said he did not even try to sell the go route and just jogged. Pickens getting lit up on ESPN Radio this morning.

I don't disagree, it was frustrating as a Pitt fan

I think that question in your first sentence is what defines Pickens' NFL career, so far, and is why he is so frustrating. If you could put that ARSB commitment and heart into George Pickens combo of body type and physical abilities... he's Randy Moss 2.0

I agree! Some guys just don`t have it in them to compete every down.

What position does Pickens play on Defense?
Was he not a big part of Dallas turning their season around and expanding the passing attack?
I don't think it's fair to start pinning the blame last night in a 44-30 loss on Pickens. Dak was putting a towel over his head to hide the frustration with the defense after every chunk play or big TD so if we're gonna go on body language and taking plays off, let's start with the field general on the sidelines looking defeated while he sat on the bench

78/1,200/8 TD, likely gonna finish around 100/1,500/10+TDs, I'm sure it's gonna cost him big time in the off season, Herbstreit can jump into a frozen lake, he's pitiful and knows ZILCH about Professional Football, he never took a single NFL snap and his color commentary is more like a description of a pep rally, he is clueless about the nuances IMHO

'This is not directed at any one in particular, just a general collective feeling and I disagree, teams will still line up to put him into their receiving corp

The thing about Pickens is that the lazy routes and such will be particularly worrisome to any team that wants to pay him to be their WR1. Ironically, the best situation for him is probably to stay in Dallas and be the Higgins to CeeDee's Chase. But if he signs a $40M/year contract or whatever to go be Cam Ward's No. 1 option in Tennessee next year, I don't see it ending well

refs say we ****ed up the call on the field so you get penalized 10 secs
A 10-second runoff isn't a punishment, it's what would have happened if they had called it correctly to begin with.

A few years back, the Lions lost a game when Stafford completed a pass to Golden Tate on the goal line that was originally ruled a TD. Got overturned on replay, and because there were less than 10 seconds left, the game was over. Which kind of sucked because if it had been called correctly, the Lions might have been able to get up to the line and run one more play. But generally, the average is around 10 seconds
