What position does Pickens play on Defense? It's continuing this morning on Get Up! They did an entire segment on it.It's pretty much why the Steelers let him go even though they could still use them badly. He is amazing receiver when he's all inSherm ripping Pickens on the post-game for lazy routes... lack of interest... etc.
Herbie was all over Pickens last night too, and rightly so.
Pickens has a lot of talent but too many plays off, lazy routes, and looks like he does not care half the time. Looks like a losing type of player.
Last night's game tape will probably cost him some off-season leverage unless he plays hard ROS.
Was he not a big part of Dallas turning their season around and expanding the passing attack?
I don't think it's fair to start pinning the blame last night in a 44-30 loss on Pickens. Dak was putting a towel over his head to hide the frustration with the defense after every chunk play or big TD so if we're gonna go on body language and taking plays off, let's start with the field general on the sidelines looking defeated while he sat on the bench
78/1,200/8 TD, likely gonna finish around 100/1,500/10+TDs, I'm sure it's gonna cost him big time in the off season, Herbstreit can jump into a frozen lake, he's pitiful and knows ZILCH about Professional Football, he never took a single NFL snap and his color commentary is more like a description of a pep rally, he is clueless about the nuances IMHO
'This is not directed at any one in particular, just a general collective feeling and I disagree, teams will still line up to put him into their receiving corp
Yes, Pickens is absolutely a big part of why the Dallas offense looked unstoppable for most of this season. And I think everyone was excited to see, what we thought was, Pickens finally turning the corner and matching the effort to the ability.
Having said that, he was also a big part of why Dallas lost last night. It was a classic shoot out and you're correct - DAL defense let them down - which is what brings Pickens play into focus. Look at the DAL possessions that did not end in points last night and how many ended with a Pickens low-effort play favoring the defense.
This is exactly why PIT traded him. They didn't see him maturing and when the game plan didn't feature him (like last night), he throttled back his effort.
