To those that tried 3RR or banzai! draft methods ... (1 Viewer)

I'm planning on changing this year's draft in one of my leagues from the normal serpentine to the banzai method for drafting. I'm curious to hear from people who recently tried this method how they think it went.

How did your leaguemates take the news that the drafting method was going to be changed (if it was the first time trying this)?

Were people pleased with the results?

Did it seem to make the draft more "fair"?

How big is your league?

Instead of the typical 1-12, 12-1, 1-12, 12-1 Serpentine draft, you reverse the 3rd round. The draft would be like this... 1-12, 12-1, 12-1, 1-12, 12-1, 1-12The third round is the same as the second round, after that each round alternates just like the typical Serpentine draft. This is supposed to help make up the advantage the front end of the draft typically has.

Me too. I'm going to go ahead and have my 14 team league use the banzai method.To Penguin:

The way I understand it, is the banzai method would go like this for the team with the 1st overall pick ...

1.1, 2.14, 3.14, 4.14, 5.1 & snake

And the third round reversal method would go like this ...

1.1, 2.14, 3.14, 4.1, 5.14 & continue to snake

I was going to use the former.

Thats the 3RR.Banzai is 1-12, 12-1, 12-1, 12-1, 1-12.... all you change is the 3rd round, flipping it.

1) In the mainlleague, since it had no internet breakdowns back, they wanted more info and it took a year to look at it. Even though it had been explained in full, they just wanted to see for themselves. Then they decided it was about as fair as anything they had ever seen. So we gave it a go the following year.2) Ecstatic. Because in a 16 team league they now are willing to draft from any position. No longer is "up top" the end all. Being at the 12-14 spots can be just as good as any other and they know it. People still have prefrences, but its all over the map. It certainly helped open up draft day trading even more.3) It was a unamious vote to keep the Banzai Method when brought up at the owners meeting. 16 yes - 0 no.4) 16 teams. (My main league)

Overall, I'd say using the banzai method in my 14 teamer evened things out quite a bit. I was stuck in the middle (the DREADED 8th pick), so it didn't affect me quite as much, but when it was all said and done, the first few teams didn't appear to be as stacked as they usually do.

Although, draft dominator did say team 1 (LT's team) had the most value, but only 1 more point than my team!
