TO to the Pats (1 Viewer)

Saw that sound bite TO put out (of course) that he'd like to play for the Pats.

Could this even work on and off the field? I didn't hear much from Buffalo and that was on a terrible team... but on the other hand maybe that lack of spotlight was part of it. He might not be able to tone down the doucheness on the better Pats. But the Pats do run a tighter ship than most and TO wouldn't be a #1. Like Hasselbeck believes TO could still be a #1 on more than one team and could still be very productive. I'd like to see it happen and the Pats make a run at the title.

Like Teddy Bruschi said on NFL Live today, the Patriots don't have the veteran leadership right now that they did a few years ago to be able to take on a head case and locker room cancer like Terrell Owens. Plus, he isn't the player he used to be, so the risk is no longer worth the reward.

I'm not gonna lie.... when I saw this news, I was like :blackdot: but I know how he is as a person and all, and know he might not even be a huge contributing factor. But still, TO, on the Pats, 3rd WR, WHAT?!?!?!?! Maybe it is the inhibition talking, but I totally would be down. :pics:

Brady to Moss, Owens and Welker would be pretty insane. Why the heck not? We said pretty much exactly the same stuff about Moss to the Pats a few years back...

If Owens wants a shot at a ring, his options are kind of limited. SD and NE both make sense. NE more so because they've actually won a title and might be able to use some help if Welker is limited.

Not that NE really needs him at all, but if they can get him cheap I don't see why they wouldn't consider it. Owens might have to trade some dollars for a shot at a championship. I know most teams would consider anything, but I think BB would really consider just about any move.

I thought that since Welker is a question mark that TO would make perfect sense, but they already have a washed up vet on the team in Holt. So probably not

Sorry my friend, TO is not washed up. He caught roughly 50% of his targets in 2008 with Dallas, did about the same in Buffalo, his ypr are identical, adn his Tds dropped to 5 because he played for Buffalo. The bigger question is this...what was he doing on the Buffalo Bills? This was like a VP taking mail room clerk job, it really hurt his resume and it seems the NFL doesn't want him anymore. Are you telling me that he couldn't start for at least half the teams int he league? No coaches want to deal with him, it's that simple and I doubt Norv and the GM in San Diego are much different. TO can play but he can't function with a team, that's the real problem. Buffalo proved he'll play for anyone as long as they pay him.

In the past Owens' talent always outweighed his flaws. That's no longer the case. He now has trouble getting off the bump and run coverages. Terrell Owens is no longer worth pursuing to most NFL teams.

I would welcome him to San Diego with the VJ nonsense. If we can convince mcneal to suit up on time, bring in TO on a 1 yr deal and move VJ for something, it would help us short term.

While the idea of Owens as a WR3 is great, it's not really feasible for the Patriots from a talent standpoint. They've already taken in Torry Holt as their older veteran who can be relied on and Owens would largely be similar in nature from a production standpoint. Welker is coming back from injury but is slated for the slot position.

Also remember that Julian Edelman came on hard in place of Welker last year so he would likely be the WR3/WR4 role inside on 4 wide formations until/when Welker comes back. Also Brandon Tate is coming back from injury and the Patriots are expecting him to get healthy and hopefully become a potential WR2 opposite Moss outside.

That right there is 5 players that the Patriots will have to try and get on the field. Why would they complicate development (Edelman, Tate) and playing time for a WR who may/may not be a locker room cancer and has struggled in certain aspects of the game on the field?
