Today was a good demonstration of how overrated stats can be (1 Viewer)

Look at the numbers of Matt Cassel and Ben Roethlisberger, neither of whom played well at all until their teams were down by 20+.

Note that this is not about fantasy football numbers, but about how good players are in general.

This is false. Ben played well but his team let him down early on with drops and incorrect routes. Also, it is hard to underrate how much the illegal hit to Ward, taking Ward out of the game, hurt Ben. What he accomplished with Ward out of the game and no running game to speak of was very impressive. Just because Chris Collingsworth says it, does not make it so.

Good thing I didn't say it did. Roethlisberger is a very good QB, but let's face it, he put up most of his numbers in the 4th quarter tonight after his pick basically ended the game at 29-10. And Cassel was awful today until the Chiefs were down 35-0.

I love having QBs and WRs when their teams are down by three scores. Garbage points are points.

This is why FF for the most part is just flat out luck.

Let's be honest. This is coming from a 20 year vet. The skill is getting to the post season year after year (which those of us who know the game well do) but it is all luck after that. Garbage fantasy points have been around since the games inception.

So much luck goes into every week. Everyone in the world was calling for a 50-48 game with Buff vs Det but the weather had other ideas. That game alone probably derailed alot of teams playoff hopes.

We seem to rarely agree, but you are spot on here.

Couldn't agree more with this. The trick is just getting to the playoffs every year and just hope for the best.
