Tom Coughlin's Presser on Jacobs, Ward, Etc. (1 Viewer)

At this point I think we know all we're going to know. If I had Jacobs, I'd be sitting him no matter what. I think it's is extremely unlikely he's active. If I had Ward or Droughns and not the other, I'd sit them as well. I think Ward has a decent chance to play, but I wouldn't want to risk it; too much conflicting information. If I had Ward AND Droughns and my lineups didn't lock at 1:00, I'd just simply put one in and check back in later to see who's playing. Not much else can be done before that.

you have a link for the CBS story?
this is what's posted on CBS....Derrick Ward, RB NYGNews: According to ESPN, Giants RBs Derrick Ward (knee, questionable) and Brandon Jacobs (knee questionable) will both be out for Week 4 vs. Philadelphia. Rueben Droughns is expected to start in their place.Analysis: Start making lineup changes accordingly. Jacobs will likely be ready to go for Week 5 vs. the Jets, but Ward's Fantasy usefulness is about to take a big hit. He likely won't be the main running back again while Jacobs is healthy. He has, however, carved out enough of a niche for himself while Jacobs has been out to be used more than lightly the rest of the way. It looks like you'll have to reserve both Jacobs and Ward. Droughns can be used as a bye-week or replacement. He'll have absolutely no competition for all the carries now.

someone says this is from espn

" Brendan Roberts: (11:16 a.m. ET) Newsday is reporting that Brandon Jacobs (knee) is "highly unlikely" to play Sunday night versus the Eagles. It sounds like the Giants will rest Jacobs one more week so he can be 100 percent for Week 5. Derrick Ward is expected to start despite an ankle injury and is a safe fantasy start."

More from Clayton this morning on ESPN.com:

"The most interesting development involves the running back position. Derrick Ward is questionable with an ankle injury and didn't practice Friday. Brandon Jacobs is coming back quickly from his knee injury and was on the practice field on Friday. While he's trying to convince coaches he's able to play, he might only be available for backup duty. Veteran Reuben Droughns is the likely starter."

this from my CBS league website. though i just watched the ticker on Countdown and there was no mention of these guys being out.

James Brown just said Jacobs is OUT while Ward is a GTD.

i think that's the most accurate report we've heard so far.

well i'm a huge underdog with no better bench options because of Bye.

in goes Droughns even though i expect Ward to play.

The latest from Rotoworld:

ESPN's John Clayton is reporting that Reuben Droughns is likely to start for the Giants on Sunday night.

This may be speculation on Clayton's part. He suggests that Derrick Ward (ankle) may sit out the game, and Brandon Jacobs (knee) has a chance to play, but that goes against everything that's been written during the week in New York and indications from coach Tom Coughlin. If we had to guess, we'd still believe Ward will be active and start against the Eagles.

What a mess.
