LaDainian Tomlinson pulled out of February's Pro Bowl due to a torn MCL. He will not be recovered for the next six weeks. He was replaced on the AFC roster by Willis McGahee, who will make his first Pro Bowl appearance. LT doesn't need surgery, but will be sidelined longer than original estimates. Still, he should be ready for spring work. This is the first significant injury of Tomlinson's seven-year career. He might not really be all that injured. It would not have looked good if he played in the pro bowl after sitting out the AFCC.

To those asking about the mileage adding up, just one statement from me.

The injury wasn't a case of degenerative tissue or constant nagging hamstring issues. He sprained/tore a ligament after being tackled awkwardly to the ground. Also keep in mind that this injury occurred two weeks after WINNING the rushing title.

It was an isolated play and the first time he's ever been hurt. Those who want to say it's the beginning of the end certainly have that right. While I'm no doctor, it wouldn't be a complete shock to see him take a step back next season coming off the first injury of his career. But to suggest that it's a case of wear and tear is, to me, completely erroneous.

I had all these same thoughts about Shaun Alexander last year. Hopefully Tomlinson is cut from a different cloth.
