The Sporting News reports Brad Johnson will start for the Cowboys Sunday against the Rams.Jerry Jones made the announcement to a throng of reporters Saturday. Tony Romo will be active for the game, but the Cowboys don't want to risk further injury to his broken pinkie. Romo owners who have handcuffed Johnson need to make the lineup switch. Other owners will want to consider Johnson as a bye week fill-in against the porous Rams defense. Oct. 18 - 10:09 pm etSource: SportingsNews.com

Tony Romo will not be Dallas' backup quarterback Sunday, according to NFL Network's Adam Schefter. He'll be the emergency third quarterback.

We reported the news last night that Romo would not start, but this should ease any concerns of Brad Johnson owners that Romo might come in if Johnson is struggling.

ESPN's Wirder just reported that Brad Johnson was on the first team bus to arrive, not Romo andthat Romo is expected to be the 3rd qb and is available for only about a quarter "and then, only if things go really haywire"

Cowboys inactives: QB Brooks Bollinger (3rd), S Pat Watkins, RB Felix Jones, CB Terrance Newman, G Kyle Kosier, G Joe Berger, OT Doug Free, LB Anthony Spencer.Analysis: QB Brad Johnson will start, and Tony Romo will be the No. 2 QB. RB Tashard Choice will backup Marion Barber with Jones inactive. With CBs Newman and Adam Jones both out, Rams QB Marc Bulger and WR Torry Holt are better starts this week.
