1. (5) P. Manning QB

2. (16) S. Jackson RB

3. (25) T. Holt WR

4. (36) D. Driver WR

5. (45) W. Parker RB

6. (56) R. Bush RB

7. (65) K. Jones RB

8. (76) L. Smith TE

9. (85) C. Taylor RB

10. (96) E. Kennison WR

11. (105) T. Glenn WR

12. (116) Ma. Jones WR

13. (125) J. Feely K

14. (136) Miami DEF

15. (145) P. Rivers QB

I couldn't believe it when Jackson fell to me mid 2nd ... then I couldn't believe it when holt fell mid 3rd. From then on, everything seemed to go my way. Maybe I'm too optimistic, but I'm really excited about this team. Don't regret taking Peyton 5th pick at all. What do you think?

Edit to add - this is starting 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR - NO PPR - Low performance with 6 pt passing TDs.

well thats ok ... i kind of did it as a test. normally i wouldn't ever take a qb in the first, but for people considering taking him early, this is what they may expect to get in the later rounds ..
No, they can't expect to get Steven Jackson in the second round, Holt in the third, Parker in the 5th, Bush in the 6th, Kevin Jones in the 7th, etc. You draft was an anomaly.I'm not sure how this helps anyone that might consider drafting Manning in the first.

Actually I think it was a fantastic draft. None More Black must be one of those people who will not draft anything but RBs for the first 3 rounds no matter what. SJax is FBGs #5 RB, to get him with your second pick is highway robbery (along with most of your other picks) . Your Rbs look very strong, WRs are good, QB the best. Some guys slipped a little further than they would in a ultra competitive league (SJax 2nd, Bush 6th, KJ 7th, Chester 9th), but that is not your fault, your team is destined for the playoffs.

I would be interested in seeing the whole draft if you could post it.

GREAT DRAFT (in this case) = lucky draft (but that is not knowing the scoring system/starting requirement..etc)

Nevertheless, this belongs in the Assistant Coach Forum

SJax was top6 in almost every magazine...why would he drop to 2.6? I did have Lamont Jordan fall to the 3rd round in a redraft leagues last weekend but that's another thread.Parker in the 5th? What 25-30 RBs were taken b4 him?Kevin Jones in the 7th? OK...this is flat out :fishing:

In my experience, it's hard to draft in a 10 team league and not have your roster look unbeatable. The problem is that everyone else's looks the same.

I'm not sure if I'd say it was an anomaly as much as he just drafted with a bunch of idiots..I too, can't stand these types of posts and think they add absolutely nothing to this forum as 80-90% of us draft with other reasonably intelligent fantasy players (ie sharks)...

There is NO WAY Steven Jackson drops past 8th overall (maybe 9th ---- 16th is ridiculous) in ANY draft I'll be taking part in. Period.

I'm in a 1-team draft and I took Manning in the first. Here's how the rest of my roster filled out:

1.01 P Manning

2.01 L Tomlinson

3.01 A Gates

4.01 L Johnson

5.01 T Holt

6.01 C Johnson

7.01 L Fitzgerald

8.01 J Sorgi

9.01 S Alexander

10.01 T Brady

11.01 Panthers DST

12.01 N Rackers

When Gates was still there in the 3rd I just had to grab him. I was a little worried that it might hurt my depth at RB, but luckily I was able to grab Larry Johnson in the fourth. I felt like I had to get some WR's before they all left the board, so I took a chance on Holt, CJ and Fitz in rounds 5-7.

At this point in the draft I got a little nervous that Manning's handcuff would go off the board so I picked up Sorgi in the 8th. I'm starting to think that might have been a little early. But I was able to get Alexander in the ninth to round out my RB corps, which IMO is still pretty solid.

I grabbed Brady in the 10th, figured I could go QBBC with him and Manning. I always wait until the end of the draft for kickers and defense, so I just grabbed the best remaining with the Panthers and Rackers.

So if you're in a 1-team league, don't hesitate to take Manning in the first. You can still get some good value at the other key positions later in the draft.

Pathetic!!!!! Obviously you have not done your reading. How do you not take Bush or Mike Bell before Peyton???? Freakin Guppie! ;)

Yahoo Public league?
how did you guess? :D i chose 'competitive' and not casual though i swear!ok - this is how the first three rounds went ... there are three picks that really stand out as bad picks in my opinion ... marked below.the reason SJAX was available to me in round 2 is because:1) the guy who picked mcnabb and ward is dumb2) apparently the last four guys thought edge, rudi, portis and ronnie brown were better picks than SJAX (i think it is very feasible that any or all of these 4 beat out SJAX)3) they also wanted to go RB/WR and followed up with four stud WRs at the start of rd 2 allowing me to grab SJAXi don't disagree that i drafted with some chumps, but i don't think this was quite as ridiculous as some are describingRound 1 1. S. Alexander2. L. Tomlinson3. L. Johnson4. T. Barber5. P. Manning6. D. McNabb *** bad pick IMO7. E. James8. R. Johnson9. C. Portis10. R. BrownRound 2 1. S. Smith2. T. Owens3. L. Fitzgerald4. C. Not everybody is in a shark league. I also took Peyton at the 5 pick in my 10-team money league, which we've had for about five years. Similar results:

01.05 Peyton Manning

05.05 Reggie Bush

06.06 DeShaun Foster

07.05 Jamal Lewis

08.06 Dominic Rhodes

09.05 Thomas Jones

02.06 Torry Holt

04.06 Reggie Wayne

10.06 Terry Glenn

03.05 Antonio Gates

11.05 Shayne Graham

12.06 Miami
