Any updates on McKelvin? This scant "limited in practice on Thursday" was the best info a quick Google search turned up.
Do you guys think this is going to be an every week thing or is it just until Manning's back is better?Snipped from this article:Wide receiver Johnny Knox will return kickoffs again this week in place of FS Danieal Manning.manning bruised his back in week one, and before this past game had made some comments that he might not be on returns because of his stiff back that week.
so, I think I'd wait and see on that one.
I'm not even sure why these guys say anything to the media about injuries, but whatever.
No citation though...
anybody ever wonder how these guys can run full out on sprained ankles, etc?if I had most of these injuries, I don't think I'd want to leave the house, let alone play football.jbz said:Friday injury update

Both of Buffalo’s starting cornerbacks are nicked up, but Terrence McGee and Leodis McKelvin are expected to be ready for game day Sunday against the Saints.
Leodis McKelvin participated fully in practice Friday and is listed as probable. McGee practiced on a limited basis according to **** Jauron and is listed as questionable.
Also questionable is WR Josh Reed (ankle). He was limited in practice for a second straight day Friday.
Shawn Nelson (shoulder) and DT John McCargo (calf) are both doubtful, which could leave the Bills with just two tight ends on Sunday.
Starting center Geoff Hangartner practiced fully on Friday and is probable for Sunday’s game. Roscoe Parrish (quad) also practiced fully and is probable.
Found that on Bills website
I think he played on defense because Finnegan got hurt and didn't come back.As far as returns goes, I'm just as puzzled. I thought Ringer was the regular returner and he was active yesterday. Anybody have any insight? What does anyone know about the DB, McCourty on Tennessee? Will he be the regular KO returner now? And how much does he play defense? Looks like he had three tackles today...were those on kick coverage, as a nickel back or what?
I sure hope Manning gets that job back -- our KR points are generous. Still, he outscored every IDP in my lineup except Cole this week (7-0 and FF) without KR points, so he stays on my roster...manning bruised his back in week one, and before this past game had made some comments that he might not be on returns because of his stiff back that week.so, I think I'd wait and see on that one.I'm not even sure why these guys say anything to the media about injuries, but whatever.
I don't know about TEN, but they just brought kr/wr mark jones back into the fold after cutting him loose a while back.keep an eye out for blurbs.canuck king said:Does anyone know who will return kicks for TEN going forward since Mouton fumbled twice...also wondering who will return kicks for Oakland now as Nick Miller is out as well...
Well in a very short time we lost the big 3 DB/return men, Mckelvin, Wilson and Manning (not lost, but not returning kicks either). So it does feel different this year, usually my league leading DBs are return men as well. Wilson may come back, but I think his value won't come back this year, since he'll lose his starting CB job to Marcus Trufant coming of the PUP.My team just took a big hit with McKelvin going on IR. Is it me, or are there not quite as many DBs producing as return guys? The top scoring DBs in my league so far this year are big play guys. Looks like WRs and RBs are producing more as returners this year.![]()
Looks great on paper, though he didn't do much against Cleveland despite the six catches by their slot receiver.Might be worth keeping an eye on Captain Munnerlyn as a matchup play down the road. Looks like he's beaten out Sherrod Martin for nickel snaps and is on PR duty now, too.at the risk of jinxing myself, I will tip you guys off on a play this week.......chriscarr
that was actually a concern, but he did manage 3-1 in week one on about the same couple dozen snaps, and I think he will see 2-3x as many snaps vs the pats.week one, the pats had 3 wr on the field 50/82 snaps, I believe, with corner (buf ncb) logging 5-2 on twice the snaps carr's been seeing, and in week 2 you're looking at 6-3 from that position, while the jets were in nickel/dime pretty much the whole game, as the pats fielded 3 wr just about every one of their 77 snaps.as for returns, balt logged 6 kr's vs the chargers, while the pats have given up 4, 4, and 5, in weeks 1, 2, 3, respectively.edit psand that's ignoring the punt returns.more edits:I did a little more sleuthing, and while furrey caught 4 balls on 6 targets, it looks like carr was covering him on just one of those catches.Looks great on paper, though he didn't do much against Cleveland despite the six catches by their slot receiver.at the risk of jinxing myself, I will tip you guys off on a play this week.......chriscarr
Yeah he has been on my radar since the preseason wrapped up but so far his returns haven't been very good.Usually PR duty falls to WR/RB types who typically have better hands than DBs.Jene do you think the rule changes for KR this year have made NFL teams treat KR duty more like PR duty, thus minimizing the amount of DB KR guys?Might be worth keeping an eye on Captain Munnerlyn as a matchup play down the road. Looks like he's beaten out Sherrod Martin for nickel snaps and is on PR duty now, too.
- While neither team has been gangbusters at kickoff returns, the Patriots have been brutal at defending kickoff returns this season. They’ve allowed 6 of 13 (46%) to be returned for 30+ yards, the highest percentage in the NFL
PR-KR Chris Carr was replaced by rookie Lardarius Webb as the team's primary returner. Carr fumbled the first kickoff of the game and has been ineffective this season.(Yahoo! Looks lke Knox is likely to keep the job...Bears offensive coordinator Ron Turner indicated in his post-game press conference that the shin injury Johnny Knox suffered Sunday isn't serious.Soooo D.Manning took over KR dutes with Knox hurt Sunday...any chance he holds onto the job?!?!?! That would be HUGE!
Thanks for the info. I see that Rushing had his first two tackles of the season yesterday. Were those special teams tackles or is he getting some pt on defense?Add Colts' DB TJ Rushing to your rankings...
Colts waived RB Chad Simpson.
Mike Hart will replace him on the active roster. Simpson had been handling kickoff returns, but he suffered an abdominal injury in Week 3.

I'd like to know too."DB Josh Wilson is expected to return to action this week after missing two games with a high ankle sprain."(Yahoo! Sports)Any reason to expect he won't be returning kicks his first week back?

What about Cincinatti? Has B Scott officially taken over for Caldwell at kr?Miami? has been Cobbs but coaching staff said they may look to Ginn again (since he's totally useless doing anything else)Lardarius Webb BAL - Coach won't comment on whether he or Carr will return kicks this Sunday.Brian Witherspoon JAC - It seems the Jaguars are giving up on him.T.J. Rushing IND - see Withersoon, Brian. Chad Simpson is the Colts' KR.Ryan Mouton TEN - Yes, he is out for good.Tramon Williams GB - I haven't even heard it mentioned that he will compete with Nelson.Joe Burnett PIT - Who?
http://blog.thenewstribune.com/seahawks/20...rough-practice/He sounds like he's good to return if the coaches let him.Cornerback Josh Wilson was a full participant in practice today and looked like he’s close to being ready to go. Asked if he was planning to return kicks on Sunday, Wilson had this to say:
“I expect to catch some passes, return some kicks and play some quarterback if they let me,” Joked Wilson. “I’ll do whatever I can to make sure I can help this team win.”
This thread is for defensive kick returners. There is a thread for offensive kick returners in the shark pool.aerolaw said:What about Cincinatti? LINKThe Ravens plan to alter their return duties for Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals with Chris Carr retaining the punt return job and rookie Lardarius Webb handling kick returns. "If you’re a competitor and you’ve been doing it as long as I have and had success at it, you want to be out there," Carr said of relinquishing kick return duties. "The more things you can do, you want to do that. But at the same time, you’ve got to know how to be a professional, and if you’re not the guy out there, you’ve got to be like, 'Hey, I’ve got to focus on what I do have. I can’t sit here and pout about this and that. I’ve got to go out there and play 30 snaps on defense and worry about receivers and worry about this and worry about punt returns.' You’ve just got to be professional and go out there and play and support your teammates and support your team." "I don’t know for sure," Webb said of taking kick returns this Sunday. "I’ve been working at it, but other than that, I don’t know yet. So I’m not going to say something and then it doesn’t really happen." Carr ranks seventh in the AFC and 15th in the NFL with a 24.5-yard average on kick returns, but he was stripped of the football on the opening kickoff of Sunday's 27-21 loss to the New England Patriots, which led to a Stephen Gostowski field goal. Webb returned just one kick against the Patriots, but it was good for 38 yards and set up the Ravens' last-gasp drive.
As a Panthers fan, let me just say...Hopefully, Jake Delhomme. That way, he can finally suffer a career ending injury and the Panthers will be forced to replace him.with goodson out, who is returning kicks for Carolina?
