I read today that Jerry Garcia's Wolf guitar sold for $1.9 million at auction. That made me think "What are the top 10 most famous guitars?" Anyone’s top 10 would obviously be slanted towards their genera of music.

- Bo Diddley’s rectangular Gretsch - The cigar box “Twang Machine”
- Jimi Hendrix’s Monterey Fender Stratocaster - The original guitar god? Jimi was a lefty who played a right handed guitar upside down.
- B.B. King's "Lucille" - As legend goes a fight broke out at an early gig and the building caught fire from toppled kerosene lamps. King went back into the building to retrieve his guitar and later found out the fight was over a woman named...Lucille.
- Brian May's "Red Special" - IMO the most recognizable tone of all guitars. May built the guitar as a labor of love with his Dad built from whatever they could scrap up (i.e. wood from a neighbors mantle, motorbike valve springs, mother of pearl buttons, etc.)
- Paul McCartney’s Höfner Bass - The infamous violin shaped bass.
- Jimmy Page's double-neck Gibson EDS - I could have went with his Gibson Les Paul Standard used for the majority of songs but the double neck used for Stairway sticks in my head.
- Les Paul 1952 goldtop - Had to include Les Paul's original that has become one of the most used models of all time.
- Randy Rhoads’ polka-dot Flying V - Crazy Train.
- Eddie Van Halen’s “Frankenstrat” - From strictly a looks perspective EVH's vintage red Kramer with black and white stripes stands out.
- Stevie Ray Vaughan's Fender Stratocaster - Saw Stevie play in 1990 and can still remember the weathered and worn Strat with the SRV emblem.
