Top 10 Rookie PPR RB Rankings (1 Viewer)

Whoosah

Footballguy
Well with the draft done, I am trying to see the top 10 RBs for upcoming rookie drafts. It does not seem like the draft ranking is any different than the order they were drafted:

1. Trent Richardson - Browns

2. Doug Martin - Buccaneers

3. David Wilson - Giants

4. Isaiah Pead - Rams

5. LaMichael James - 49ers

6. Ronnie Hillman - Broncos

7. Bernard Pierce - Ravens

8. Lamar MIller - Dolphins

9. Robert Turbin - Seahawks

10. Chris Rainey - Steelers

Thoughts?

About exactly as I have it except James a bit lower. That backfield is something I want no part of.

My tiered top 10:

1) Trent Richardson

2) David Wilson

3) Doug Martin

Huge drop

4) Robert Turbin

5) Bernard Peirce

6) Ronnie Hillman

7) Lamar Miller

8) Cyrus Gray

9) Isaiah Pead

10) Bryce Brown

Why do you have Wilson over Martin? Do you not think Martin can't beat blount or that it's an RBBC? Or do you think Bradshaw's foot will allow wilson to be the guy?

10. Chris Rainey - Steelers
As a Steeler fan I think Rainey could be incredible for us.But for fantasy he offers incredibly little. I know ppr makes it possible, but I dont see how he will be on the field enough.Maybe he could get a good number of catches (as much as 50?), but his ceiling is so very limited because he wont see the field on typical run downs or in the standard set. Better off to take some lottery picks elsewhere imo.

My rankings are significantly affected by how talented I think each player is instead of simply how good of a situation each player is in. Martin may be in a better situation for immediate success, but I think David Wilson is a better running back and can be a top 5 RB in both the NFL and in fantasy leagues; whereas I don't think Doug Martin has enough talent to do something like that.

Love how miller was a top 4 RB yesterday and now he's behind guys like pead, pierce and turbin.

I think Pead is a very special back - burst, vision, balance, elusiveness and receiving are all there. However, he cannot block to save his life so it will be awhile before he sees much action. Long-term I like him better than Hillman.

This one but you got to switch Martin for Wilson in the rankings. Martin has gone to the better situation. Miller is going to be great value for owners in rookie drafts I think.

1. Trent Richardson

2. David Wilson(talent over opportunity)

3. Doug Martin

4.Ronnie Hillman

Huge drop after those 4.I like Rainey's ppr potential. Pead has big play ability and will see a few snaps, but I don't view him as a big threat to Jackson's workload.  Boom Herron fell in a good spot, as he should be able to compete for carries right away. Ganaway, Turbin, Miller, James, Pierce offer little without a significant injury, though Ganaway has the best chance to compete for carries.  Michael Smith is a wild card. He put up big time workout numbers and was effective in limited touches. He does make me a little uneasy about Martin until I see them on the field.

I think most of you guys are underestimating the role that Hillman is going to have...
I like Hillman but with Manning he gets to watch the stat whore throw short TD passes and throw way more than run the ball, without Manning, this team stinks bad.

Not a bad list. The top 3 should definitely get their opportunities to play. The wildcard I'm liking here is Isaiah Pead. S Jax is getting older and if he misses any time Pead will get his shot at RB and do very well. His outlook is better for the future but if he's needed to come in and play extensively this year I think he'll get the job done. I also like Hillman's chances of success in Denver as early as this year.

I'm a 9ers fan and fine with the LaMichael James pick. Right now he's buried on the depth chart behind Gore,Hunter & Jacobs.Surely he'll get some punt returns courtesy of Kyle Williams :lmao: , but with the 3 in front of him he may not get many carries this year. He's a little lighter than Hunter and it'll be hard for him to take carries away from him unless he is hurt or underperforms. Doesn't matter to me if it's Hunter or James as long as they produce.

Not really sold on James, Hillman, and Pead. I don't like small backs, and I don't see any of them having the bulk needed to be a regular starter in the NFL. The draftniks on TV will inevitably throw out Darren Sproles when talking about these guys, but Sproles actually has an ideal BMI. He's not thin. He's just short.

I have my top 4 as:

1. Richardson

2. Martin

3. Wilson

4. Miller

With a big drop-off after that. Pierce and Turbin have some starting potential, but are stuck in bad situations.

That's generally how I see it as well, those 6 backs + Bryce Brown late are likely the only RBs I'd bother drafting. Although I really like where Hillman ended up, so if I was gonna take a small back it'd be him.

Lamar Miller is a straight line runner who dropped significantly because of injury concerns. Even healthy he doesn't offer much in terms of being a 3 down player.

1. Trent Richardson - Browns

2. Doug Martin - Buccaneers

3. David Wilson - Giants

4. Isaiah Pead - Rams

10. Cyrus Gray - Chiefs

1. TRich

2. Wilson

3. Martin

For this year, I like Martin better, but I disagree that Wilson is in a worse situation. He's on an offensively potent team that has a history of success (last year notwithstanding) with the running game. I don't think it's long before he supplants Bradshaw as the primary back and I think he can have a lot of success there. It's quibbling a bit and I wouldn't be upset to get Martin at all, but it's just a personal preference.

4. Miller. Like others, I'm scratching my head at how far he has fallen. If you want production this year, notsomuch, but if you're relying on any backs after TRich to be major contributors in dynasty this year, you're in so much trouble, you might as well start planning for next year, which is when this pick will pay off.

5. Pead

6. James

7. Hillman

I got these three really close as I think all could contribute this year and be major players next due to the age of their respective incumbents and their talent levels. To me, it's pretty clear that the order is Pead, James, then Hillman.

8. Polk. I just don't think that much of any of the other RBs picked to go with them. I'd prefer to swing for the fences on someone like Polk, who I think has the talent to be a very good NFL RB rather than a bunch of guys who aren't likely to be much more than career back-ups or role players.

9+ Whoever got drafted by a team whose RB is already on your squad.

Yeah, I like your list especially fellow 49er rookie LaMichael James. As I posted earlier he's a little mired on the depth chart behind Gore,Hunter & Jacobs but I'm just gettin' a feelin' he's gonna get some opportunities to shine and when he does, pardon the pun, he's gonna run with it and not look back. Mr. Kendall Hunter might get a little peeved but if LaMichael gets hot whatcha gonna do,bench him just because Hunter's been there and Jacobs a vet? No, I guarantee you if he starts to outproduce Hunter when he's in there he's gonna keep gettin' carries. Yeah he's supposed to be smaller than Hunter by a few pounda and Hunter may have the better looking frame but Coach Harbaugh likes this kid and don't be surprised if he turns out to be a sleeper and puts up good numbers. We know Gore's gettin' older and can get a little dinged up and if he misses any time I say Harbaugh's gonna give him some carries. Now if he fails to capitalize on those opps he could be in for extended pine time while Hunter & Jacobs get to be Thunder & lightning. I'm not saying he's gonna be rookie of the year or anything but rather he just might open a few eyes and surprise the hell out of some people. GO LJ!!!

Rich - 1st round startup pick

Martin - 2nd round startup pick

Wilson - probably a top 30 dyno RB

(after the top 3 I'd rather move back to the middle of the 2nd than pick late round 1 and see who among these guys fall)

James - safest of these 5, he will get the ball, he will make big plays, he is the best back on the team (once Gore is done), and he will score, but...he doesn't have 20 touch upside

Pead - best situation among all of these guys, but I like the talent the least (committee back). Fish sees a future featured back, obviously lots of value in that.

Hillman - highest upside of all of these guys and I think he's an under rated talent, pass pro is an issue with Peyton QB'ing that must be remedied though

Miller - could be the feature back in Miami to start 2013, just needs to overcome shoulder and mental hurdles

Turbin - could be the feature back in Seattle sooner than most think

Pierce - Ray Rice hold out wildcard, like the talent too

Ballard - might be the best back on the Colts roster

Polk - I like Dion Lewis more, but talent is there...if his hip allows

Alfred Morris - Shenanigans!

I think a lot of guys are overlooking Boom Herron at Cincinnati. He should be in the top ten rookie rankings and should have no problem stealing carries this year. If he would not been involved in tattogate he would have put up 1500 18TDs last year. I have never been impressed with Green-Ellis, Scott, or Leonard. The guy is solid.
