They kicked kids out when they turned age 15 - that's pretty metal-like. Either that or Logan's Run-like.
meh, they were nickel & dimed by their management.

Have lived in SC for 15 years, can confirm![]()
Bet the whole reckon thing was said differently down South.
"Boy, I reckon you listen to that Satan music from up North!"
Well, you are dumb, and bad, and wrong.A few maiden songs came on Sirius, instrumental stuff is solid but the vocals just don’t work for me

including Flight of Icarus, a personal favorite.
This is also the first Iron Maiden song my 10-year old son listened to, and liked. Wasted Years, 2 Minutes to Midnight, and Run to the Hills are on deck.![]()
"Flyyyy as hiiiiigh as the ssuuuUUUUUUUUHHUHHHHUUUUHHHNNNNNNNNN! AAAAAAAAAAHAHAAYYAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAA!"

It reminds me of Jack Black doing his Tenacious D shtick. They sound like they should be headlining the local renaissance fairWell, you are dumb, and bad, and wrong.
"WOooooaaaahhhOOOOOaaahhhhhooooooooOooooooaaaah!"
Bummer , had to do that myself on New Years EveGreat write-up, thank you Herb!
A sad weekend here where we had to have an old dog be led off to pasture - in much gentler fashion than these things were handled in my redneck childhood, happily enough for that - - I am only a bit behind and still hope to get an 'M' band out tonight, let's try and remember the good years!!!..
we had to do our the day after Halloween . It suckedBummer , had to do that myself on New Years Eve![]()
I'm just happy to meet some fellow Ratt and Tesla fans.![]()
I thought I was on an island with these two...or at least on an island with relatively few. They appear to be more well liked than I anticipated.
This is my wheelhouse, and I am embarrassed to say I am not sure who's left. 1 obvious one, and I have a guess at another one but would have to look at the playlist to see if I missed them.I have no idea who the final three are, which gives one an excellent idea of how shallow my time spent in this category (categories) is, but it is bugging me that I cannot figure it out the top-ranked easily.
...Wait, pretty sure I just figured out who is #1.
Ah, I've now figured out two of the top three. This is my wheelhouse, and I am embarrassed to say I am not sure who's left. 1 obvious one, and I have a guess at another one but would have to look at the playlist to see if I missed them.![]()
Yeah, I think the top 3 are pretty obvious. All have already been discussed pretty extensively in the thread.
Ranked way too low at #28 imo. We've already had Motorhead, haven't we?
Not sure either about the last one, but think I’m going batty about it.This is kind of funny. I only know two of the three. We've already had Motorhead, haven't we?
It may seem crazy, but I think Maiden is underrated. As well-respected as they are, I don’t think they are widely recognized as “the best metal band in the universe.” And that’s precisely what they are.Iron Maiden is the best metal band in the universe.

not familiar with it. For as popular as they are I don’t really ever recall them being on MTV/radio growing upWhat do you think of early Maiden with Di’Anno singing?
16th video played on MTV on August 1, 1981not familiar with it. For as popular as they are I don’t really ever recall them being on MTV/radio growing up
They are the godfathers of epic, prog heavy metal. It may seem crazy, but I think Maiden is underrated. As well-respected as they are, I don’t think they are widely recognized as “the best metal band in the universe.” And that’s precisely what they are.
Top 10 Maiden tune for me......lord man. Has any hard rock band from the 80’s aged as well as these guys?Pretty sure one of the greatest feelings that exists is you're rocking out to some cool metal song, then it ends and all of a sudden the opening riff of The Rime of the Ancient Mariner begins, and you're compelled to turn it up to 11.
That's value based purchasing. Those are the only 4 albums of theirs that I personally care for.My 13 for a penny Columbia House collection included their first 4 albums on cassette.![]()
Epic really is a good song. I also dig Introduce Yourself and We Care A Lot (both versions).Honorable mention, the perfect time for the perfect crime, FAITH NO MORE was on this list but I decided, no, they belong on another list, another time
But they jumped right into the MTV hard rotation in 1990 and were tightly aligned with Metallica
You could put Zombie Eaters on this playlist and it wouldn't seem particularly out of place
But their two albums from that period aren't quite in the same conversation with the ones I referred to above..
I would listen to Introduce Yourself all the time as even a college student. I dug that record. Pre-Mike Patton days they were an interesting band. Once Mike got there, maybe even more so. Remember Mr. Bungle? They were...terrible.Honorable mention, the perfect time for the perfect crime, FAITH NO MORE was on this list but I decided, no, they belong on another list, another time

Whenever people tell me they like Mr. Bungle, I just assume they're playing contrarian.I would listen to Introduce Yourself all the time as even a college student. I dug that record. BACK TO THE FRONT!!!Regarding Metallica, I like them...I think? But I feel I should like them more than I do.
No equivocating on this though...Master Of Puppets is a masterpiece. I think my favorite Metallica song is Disposable Heroes.
I like their cover of Blitzkrieg. Blackened is cool too.
The UCR piece digs up an old Daily News interview where then-councilperson, now-mayor Jim Kenney calls the parking lot setting of the event a mistake. “Once again, you’re going to have problems with crowds in a residential area.,” he said. “You’ll have noise and traffic congestion. If the heavy-metal rock group wants to hold a concert here, why not hold it inside the CoreStates Spectrum? And if you’re putting all these Beavis and Butt-Heads in the parking lot, where are you going to park the cars?”
Can't believe it's been 30 years since seeing Faith No More open for Metallica and GnR at RFK.
Oh, and Falling To Pieces just fits perfectly into that scene in Black Hawk Down.Epic really is a good song. I also dig Introduce Yourself and We Care A Lot (both versions).
But my favorite is Out Of Nowhere. They killed it with this song on SNL.
