I disagree.1. Anquan Boldin
2. Steve Smith
3. Santana Moss
4. Darrell Jackson
5. Roy Williams
It's as good of a list as any. Wideout turnover in the top 10 is almost a given.
i agree, they are a crap shotWideout turnover in the top 10 is almost a given.
Hence your own unorthodox list, which an be classified as basically a crapshoot. I don't personally see much point in picking the "turnover" list without expalanation, for example how Santana Moss is going to be top 3 wih Jason Campbell thowing to him, why no WRs of Manning, Palmer or Brees are listed; etc. Do we dare ask for your QB ranking? The groupthink on the pool is hilarious.
I think we are talking about top 5 drafted. I highly doubt darrell jackson will be drafted 4th WR off the board. however, if you think he is this good, then he will present great value when you can get him 2-3 roiunds later than a real top going into the season.1. I thought we were trying to prognosticate how the top 5 would finish. It's pretty easy to figure out how they will be picked with all of the ADP sites out there nowadays.I think we are talking about top 5 drafted. Jason Campbell? You mean the first round draft pick? The one who is coached by the NFL Hall of Fame coach who coached Mark Rypien to a Super Bowl win? The coach who was at the helm when Mark Brunell happened to have the best season of his long career? Why can't he make the jump? As far as Manning, Palmer, and Brees, I hemmed and hawed about including Reggie Wayne. Outside of a few games, CJ is ordinary. I don't know why I didn't include Brees. I need to see Colston do it for one more year before I annoint him. There were reasons he slid as far as he did. How are the other lists not a crapshoot?Hence your own unorthodox list, which an be classified as basically a crapshoot. Yes, also the same Jason Campbell who was apparently deemed ill-prepared to start his initial 1.5 seasons, and who narrowly exceeded 200 passing yards in 3 of his 7 games. I'm not sure what Rypien does to support Campbell, he threw over 22 TDs just once in his career and that seems to be more an argument of NFL winning than FF production.Jason Campbell? You are obviously ignoring downsides to certain players you've named, though. As far as Manning, Palmer, and Brees, I hemmed and hawed about including Reggie Wayne. Because they appear to be based on last years production/results. I'm not disputing that there will be turnover; I actually had no issue with your initial list until you used it as a springboard to scoff at those taking less chances with their own rankings. Personally, I don't see naming currently productive WRs as being group mentality at all; collective hyping of a non-productive guy would be more indicative of group mentality. I guess the question is whether this thread is to establish an anticipated top 5 [with perhaps 3-4 being right] or whether its a thread where guys make unorthodox predictions in hopes of being able to bump this next year when a couple of their odd predictions were right, while other unusual guesses completely miss the mark.My own list would resemble many of those in this thread. Not exciting, but probably using the best assumptions one could make in May.How are the other lists not a crapshoot?
I said mine would be similar to those other ones listed. If you are that interested:(1) L.Fitzgerald(2) R.Wayne(3) M.Colston(4) T.Holt(5) Chad JohnsonSabertooth said:Oh, you haven't made a prediction yet? Why is that? Are you just in here to dog mine?I never said Jason Campbell would be in the top 5.
Nice list. Bigjim® also has a good list.Adre Johnson is going to enjoy his best season as a pro,now with Shaub at QB, and Green at RB.100 receptions, double digit TD's
Thank you!Sea Bass, I tried to configure a poll to capture what I thought you were trying to get here.I hope it helps.
I agree that Moss has the skills to make it into the Top 5 but he could also end up outside the top 20. Even in 2005 when he finished 3rd for WR he scored less then 10 points 10 times. He had 3 monster games. In 2003 when he finished 8th for WR he again scored less than 10 points 10 times.Just not a guy that I want to depend on week in and week out!for those doubting Santana Moss, did you watch him in 2005? He has the closest skills set to Steve Smith in the league. Just needs solid QB play. Brunell had that magical run of good games in 2005, thus Moss was a top 5 WR in many categories. Brunell clearly ran out of gas last year, stayed the starter for about 6 weeks too long, and that hurt Moss' numbers. Yes, Campbell was green, and then Moss hurt his hammy. But make no mistake, Santana is as explosive as any WR in the league. Just watch him play, you'll see it too.
