Top Ten Reasons (1 Viewer)

Do I think Tom Brady choked tonight? No.

However, I do think if that had been Peyton Manning having a game out there like that, people would be coming out of the woodwork and accusing him of choking. Patriots fans, some of whom would be leading the charge. cannot deny that.
Funny... Ghost Rider called it alright...
Big difference. After a player has proven himself repeatedly in high pressure situations, an off game isn't considered choking except by those who don't wish to see otherwise. Brady wasn't at his best but his second interception was akin to a Hail Mary down by 2 scores with that little time left. Whether fair or not, Manning has a long history of not winning the big game.
So basically Brady and Manning's performances for their games didn't really matter, just the teams results. If Brady had a poor game and the team lost he wouldn't have choked b/c he's already proven himself as a winner, but if Manning has a average game and the team lost he choked because he still hasnt' won the big game yet? Doesn't this seem very hypocritical...

OK, I know you're talking about the pass interference penalty. Technically speaking, according to the rules, a defensive back cannot get in front of a wide receiver and impede his progress toward the ball. Good call. Pass interference defense. The only "bad" part of the call is that I think the ball should have been placed at the 3 or 4 instead of the 1.
I was waiting for someone to support this brilliant call by the back judge. Keep it up. Its hilarious.Throw out Brady's last INT since it meant nothing....down by 2 scores, trying to get a ton of yards at once....so they basically turned it over 4 times. Any competent playoff team should score at least 17 points off of those turnovers.WITH the PI call, the refs gave the Broncos the ball at the 1-yard line twice. Even the worst NFL team could score 14 points in those situations.Please carry on though...I digress. I'd love to hear how Bailey's left foot hit the pylon and the ball, which he is carrying in his right hand, gets knocked forward WITHOUT it being Leon Lett, Part II. I could use the geometry lesson.

Feel free to comment with your own...here's my list(s):

Top Ten Reasons the Broncos beat the Patriots

=============================================

10. The Patriots had their "swagger" back

9. Belichick is a genius

8. Denver is 29th in the league vs. the pass

7. Only the Browns had fewer sacks than the Broncos this year

6. Tom Brady doesn't lose in the playoffs

5. The Patriots never lose to the same team twice in the same season

4. The Patriots started 5 players that didn't play Denver earlier this year

3. Brady vs. Plummer? I mean JAKE PLUMMER?

2. 90% of "experts" picked the Patriots to win

1. Shanahan can't win a playoff game without Elway  :eek:

OK, THE REAL REASONS:

======================

5. It takes a team to win and the Broncos have a well-balanced team!

4. Shanahan owns Belichick like nobody else in the league (4-1 since '01)

3. THE FANS AT INVESCO!!!!

2. The Broncos offense scored more TDs than FGs and the Broncos D rocks!!!

1. Forget sacks - Brady was on his ### all game!!!!!

Honorable Mention: Sauerbran (the Broncos punter) can tackle!!!!

GO BRONCOS!!!!!  :D
I'll give the Fans at Invesco an "A". The crowd noise was definately a factor as NE had at least 5 procedure calls.I'll give home field advantage an "A", as the altitude may have been a factor in some of Brady's overthrows and even Brown's muffed punt.

I'll give the Bronco's D an "A-". NE was able to move the ball well at times but they tightened up in the red zone, pressured Brady and forced turnovers.

I'll give the Bronco's offense a "C-"; with the exception of great field position given by bad calls and turnovers, they were underwhelming.

I'll give the officials a "D". The pass interference call was offensive interference; Samuel had position on the ball and the receiver initiated the contact. Horrible call that was a gift TD in a (to that point) great defensive battle. Who knows how the half who have transpired but I don't believe Denver scores 10 points in the last 2 minutes without the benefit of that call.

The failure to recognize a touchback gave Denver another TD as well. A poor play by Brady but also a little too much showboating by Bailey. Correctly called and Watson has a play for the ages while Bailey is forever lumped with Leon Lett.

Bad calls happen.. but when a team gets two TDs directly from questionable calls??? :no: Get the calls right and maybe NE can overcome the crowd noise, an off night and some turnovers.

Sour grapes? Nope. But nobody likes to walk away from a game thinking the officiating played a major role.

I know there would be many Steeler fans (especially if Indy had come back) with the same opinion after watching the refs fight to keep Indy in that game yesterday.

What don't you understand? It's the cumulative body of work that is being examined. If a guy has 10 good games and one bad one, only the biased start screaming "choker". Lose repeatedly in the post season (college and pro) and you're bound to get labeled. If Philly made the Superbowl this year, and McNabb had an off-game. What would EVERYONE say about McNabb?
