Torrey Smith (1 Viewer)

Nice premature bump :lol:2/57 on 3 targets, with Flacco looking quite good and having tons of time all game. Still looks like he'll be an inconsistent fantasy guy to me.
If Clements doesn't absolutely mug Smith in the endzone, he would have ended up with 90 total yards and a touch. Can't hate on this game at all for Smith. He is involved in the offense and has potential to score on any play.
Yeah, lets start adding PI plays to WRs final stats and see how they all might end up

Buy low and wait until they play a real team
This game was close at halftime (shouldve been closer as Boldin's TD was a drop) and still a game until Reed's pick-6. Bengals are a real team, they didnt lose anybody from last year of note, BJGE looked like an upgrade over Benson, and the rest of their young players have more experience. The Ravens will play plenty of better QBs this year, but Cincy will be a .500 team at worst.People have started multiple threads on buy lows the last couple days. Maybe its just the leagues Im in, but theres no such thing after week 1. People will not be selling Smith right now, especially since he did have 1 big play in this game. If after week 4 he has 210yds and 1 TD, yes, I will try and buy low.ETA: I mean after 4 weeks, on the season, his totals are 210yds and 1 TD

a little concerned. it's not that the Ravens aren't throwing a lot. they are, even though they shouldn't be.

it's that they are throwing, but they're not throwing it to Smith.

Jacoby freaking Jones??

Yeah, I am concerned, too. Pitta is getting a LOT of targets. Smith looks like he has the same limited role he had last year, but without the element of surprise. Flacco is hitting the open guy, not forcing it to Smith. Not a recipe for fantasy greatness.

I'm not all that concerned. Smith is a home run hitter and he will have his share of big games. I still think he will have a 1000/8 season at a minimum.

he has and will get his occassional deep shots, but the targeting of the TEs is more what has me

The problem with that, as is the case with most home run hitters, is that it will be very inconsistent. That's so frustrating for owners.

I think you'll see more consistency than this. He led the team's WR in targets and yardage (tied in actual rec. with Boldin who got a whopping 7 yards on 2 rec.) Jones had 1 catch on 2 targets, it just happened to be a TD. It was a tough game going against the Eagles with DRC and Nnamdi. In 2 supposed bad games, he is still on pace for 800 yards in 2 supposed bad outings. I think you will start seeing some more 5 catch/75 yard performances as the Ravens are in closer games not against the Eagles.

He'll go off for 7-188-2 as soon as you bench him. ;)
I benched him last week and he didn't do ****. I'm selling high as soon as he blows up. I think Flacco is still Flacco and that's what's going to hold him back.

Thats a nice way of getting around not mentioning Pitta getting double digit targets and looking like a key part of the passing game 2 weeks in a row.

I thought so too but I don't expect Pitta to be a double digit target a week guy. Do you? If so, you should probably get him in every league you own. Pitta will be a part of the passing game but I wouldn't look to the last 2 games to dictate things. Week 1, the game was over so quickly, they didn't really seem to press the passing game. Yesterday they went against those 2 CBs. I think you'll see him with more targets when they are in a close game not against one of the best duo of corners in the league. Additionally, they should run it more which should put a safety in the box which should open it up for Smith.

:goodposting: That is why I own both in all leagues i own Torrey. it could be a situational thing between their matchups all year.
