Torry Holt released by St. Louis (1 Viewer)

I'll tell you what I love about Holt...the guy still has the fire to win. Many HOF'er potentials begin to worry about their personal accomplishments over team accomplishes as their careers progress. Not Holt. This guy wants to win. Because of this, I really like him as a rebound player in '09.

(KFFL) The St. Louis Rams have announced they have released WR Torry Holt.
M. Smith (ESPN) also reporting. i know the cowboys are in the mix for this guy.
How do you know this. I was hoping Dallas would pursue him but really did not think they would and if they did, do not think they will be able to get him. I think this guy has something left in the tank and will help whatever team he goes too.

The Hoodie's already in his driveway. Yep, ringin' the doorbell right now. Moss, Welker, Holt. That sounds nice.

I don't know for sure if Carolina wants him, but I think they have the best shot. Home sweet home for sure.
I believe Philly has the best shot unless they are looking to get Bodin cause they got like 40 mil to play with. If Philly does not go after Holt or get Boldin I would be surprised and Mcnabb should be pissed

Chicago, Jacksonville, Houston, Miami, NYJ, NYG, Oakland, SF, TB, Tennessee, Washington
That's 1/3 of the league...not saying all would be interested, but just throw a couple of teams out there, so when you bump the thread when he lands, you look as though you hit the nail on the head.

Not quite 33 yet. Still medium rare.

He signs with the Cards, to be united with Warner, the Cards trade Boldin to Dallas for MBIII and draft picks

The Titans were reportedly on the verge of trading for Torry Holt on Thursday before the trade fell apart.

According to the National Football Post's Michael Lombardi, the deal fell through after Holt refused to restructure his contract. Appearing Friday on NFL Network, Lombardi said he suspects the Titans are still the front-runners to land Holt since they were the only team interested in trading for him.

The Charlotte Observer is "nipping in the bud" all talk of Torry Holt possibly signing with the Panthers.

Holt, an N.C. State grad, has expressed a desire to finish his career in his home state, but his brother is no longer with the Panthers. More importantly, Carolina is up against the salary cap and wide receiver isn't currently a position of need.

I heard this also but if Holt wouldn't restruture the first time for the Titans why would he do it now when he has the chance to play for way more teams.

Is there an echo in here?Would those writing off Holt please explain why? Has he lost a couple of steps, poor work ethic, etc.???

WOW. :goodposting: That is not gonna happen. :bag: Holt isn't worth MB3 & draft picks. He's not even worth MB3. imo

No matter who signs him, he'll be restructuring.

Is there even a contract to restructure once you're released? Wouldn't he just have a brand new contract with whatever team he signs with?

Well he was historically good in '03, elite in '04-'05, very good in '06-'07, and then average last year. He's had knee issues and he's not that young anymore. I think it's legitimate how he'd do his first year on a new team at the age of 33.

Aside from seeing him come home to play in Carolina, it'd be great to see him in San Diego, catching passes from another former N.C. State grad... Philip Rivers. I remember Holt torching Florida State (when they were unstoppable) for 5 TD's at Carter-Finley Stadium and Rivers, later setting NCAA records there as well. I'd love to see that match-up.

However, I'd say at least a third of the league is interested. The guy is just a positive, motivated, hard-working winner... life, career, etc.

Sure the Rams were horrible last year, but Holt was still top shelf (even though they put him on the bottom shelf). He's still got the gas to last (2-3 years)... IF the knee still does...

Peyton needs another target to compliment Wayne. Peyton and Holt both only have about 2-4 good years left - that's assuming Holt's degenerative knee condition won't hold him back. The other place I see is Arizona if they do trade Boldin. Eagles might work as well. It will be interesting to see if he can be fantasy relevant again.

How did you highlight "the Cards trade Boldin to Dallas..." and read it as "the Cards trade Holt to Dallas..."?And there's a 0% chance that a trade like this is going to happen. First, trades of big names like this are extremely rare in the NFL (and much more rare than we seem to think they are in the Shark Pool). Also, Boldin and Barber's contract numbers don't work. And, indications I've read on the Cowboys' blog on the Dallas Morning News is that the Boys are very committed to keeping Barber, but more likely to use him as they did in 2007 rather than 2008.

That's pretty old for an NFL wide receiver. Holt's best days are behind him. I'm sure he'll land somewhere this year but he won't amount to much.

(KFFL) Bob Brookover, of the Philadelphia Inquirer, reports the Philadelphia Eagles do not have any interest in free-agent WR Torry Holt (Rams), according to a team source.

Could his recent performance outside of injury be mirroring his QBs performance? I've seen Muhammad and Proehl do well after the age of 33 so I don't see 33 as an age where you automatically put a fork in someone.

His best days may be behind him, but at age 33:Cris Carter, 1011, 12Donald Driver 1012, 5Harold Jackson 1013, 7Jimmy Smith 1027, 7Derrick Mason 1087, 5Charlie Joyner 1132, 4Marvin Harrison 1146, 12Terrell Owens 1180, 13Tim Brown 1344, 6Henry Ellard, 1397, 6Jerry Rice 1848, 15That's a partial list, and sure, these guys are the elite. But so is Holt, having gone to the Pro Bowl 7 times, and being a workout warrior. In the right situation, he could be productive.
